Yeah I was surprised to find that in the SE++ thread about the comic everybody seemed to think the game sucked. I kinda thought it's terrible performance was due mostly to the price but people seem to actively dislike it.
Hopefully they put out a little bit of awesome DLC before they put the game to pasture, hehe. On that note, who's stoked for David Guetta next week?
I still think it's a worthy purchase at around 70-80 bucks, which it will likely hit after Xmas. I haven't picked it up yet but I had a blast when a buddy brought it over a few weeks ago.

I'm actually hoping someone might have it around there for Black Friday.
Thinking about it, I haven't really seen that many copies of DJ Hero being sold used. Then again, only a few specialty shops and pawn shops sell used games over here. Maybe it helps that we didn't get raped on the price this time in Europe. Only 89 euros! Which is still roughly $133. That's only 20 euros more expensive than most PS3/360 titles over here though.
It's nice to see that the game has found at least something a niche, but it seems to be one of those critically acclaimed but complete retail failure cases. Bit of a shame. Personally, I've really been enjoying it and haven't regretted my purchase once. Although some other games (just Fallout really) are consuming my precious free hours right now, I find myself popping the game in for a few quick sets constantly.
Expert is still beyond me after the first 2 setlists, but I'm chugging along on hard nicely. It'll probably last me quite a while until I'm completely done. Meanwhile, the music still hasn't gotten old yet, the first DLC was actually pretty good and I'm not having that much of a problem finding players online, as long as I'm hosting (PSN).
Hmm, have there been US vs EU numbers released? If price was why it did so poorly maybe it'll do better there? (though it's still more expensive there than here, but apparently relatively cheaper?)
I finally found some online games tonight and got my platinum trophy! I dunno what was wrong before, I never found a single game and tonight I found like 15.

They didn't release sales numbers, but we know that it opened at #31 on the UK's top 40 sales chart. It stayed at #31 for two whole weeks before dropping off the chart entirely.
Maybe it did better on the rest of the continent, but those are pretty terrible numbers for a big release.
Edit: Looking at the latest charts, it seems that it's made it back onto the UK charts at #35.
Actually DJ Hero sold 125,000 in the U.S. in October... though that was spread out over four systems.
The UK charts can be a little weird, because prices tend to plunge within a month and big sales can cause games to leap back onto the charts. It's not unusual for games that have been out for months to suddenly lurch back into the top 10 due to a big sale. So my guess is that prices on DJ Hero are being slashed.

Asda (walmart) just slashed the price to £75 (3/4 the original price) and it's actually getting some prime time tv advertising due to this sale as well. Probably explains why it took a little jump.
If anyone is still interested in this I just found out EB/Gamestop sells this for 59.99 used for the mixing deck and game. Call around, they'll usually send it to a closer store if the one near you isn't carrying it.
So my fiance bought this as an early christmas gift for me. I wasn't supposed to know about it, but she used a shared email account to buy it off craigslist for 60 bucks. So she let me have it early
Actually really enjoying this. Didn't figure I would. Honestly thought I'd sit there playing it comparing it to real DJ'ing the entire time. But it's actually really pretty goddamn fun. Expert is pretty challenging too. Not so much the cross fading or button hits, but the scratches. Not having much time to read the longer scratches makes life a bit difficult. Especially since they're all directional on expert.
Overall though good game. Some damn fine mixes in there too. I came in my pants a little when I fired up Daft Punks record bag.
Hmm so Gamestop is doing this random "these games trade in for $20!" thing, and they also have DJ Hero for $99. I also found $20 today.
So by trading in L4D1 and using my new magic $20, I could get a brand new copy for $60 out of pocket.
OR I could get that game "Wet" for free. (Its on sale today for $29.99)
I have a feeling BOTH game will be dirt cheap eventually. Its a mental battle of "free is free" vs. "something I really want but will kick myself if it even hits $40"

I did this yesterday and got nothing but assholes. No one via phone would look up other stores inventory for me. I was just flat out told "We dont do that" by 3 people. The one guy who did said one store had it in stock - a store I had previously called, who said they DIDNT have it. I drove out there, and it was sold earlier in the day apparently.

Gotta love those guys. I'm going to see if the place across the street has it.
Yeah the guy at the local EB checked, told me they had it at a store further away but they couldn't send it over anytime quickly but they'd hold it for me if I called. I did and went and picked it up, 59.99 used, came in the original box with all the manuals and works perfectly.
Uuuuugh so jealous. No place within 30 miles has it.
So so tempted to take advantage of the whole $20 trade credit for Left 4 Dead and Beautiful Katamari and knock a new copy down to used price, but I'm having a bizarrely weird time parting with Katamari. It was so damn fun...
Must stay strong. A used copy will show up soon...

My gamertag is in my sig, and I'd love to cut some phat beats.
Only problem is, I'm still on MEDIUM. This game is totally like the very first Guitar hero to me. I can 4 star and 5 star everything Ive done on Medium, but I havent gotten above 2 stars on anything Ive tried on hard. Its a whole new learning curve and I just have to be patient.
I also wonder about calibration. I didnt even THINK about it until about 20 songs in, and then after calibrating, I couldnt hit anything, so I went back to 0/0 because thats what I was using at first. Im so spoiled by Rock Band's auto calibrate, that trying to calibrate with the turn tables I always get random numbers, and then cant tell if Im failing because Im actually bad, or because the calibration is off. So Im just leaving it at 0/0 and continuing to learn off that.

When I tried doing the actual calibration system in DJ Hero with the tuntables I got some whacky numbers too. Technically you should be able to just use your RB numbers, but I found the DJ Hero calibration to be a bit different so I'd suggest using the RB manual calibration method:
1) Pick a song with taps at the beginning on Expert (Tiesto vs Benassi or Noisia maybe?)
2) Mute your TV
3) Experiment with hitting the taps as early and late as possible. The two extremes should be equidistant from the line - if not, adjust lag. Turning lag up moves the hit window toward the bottom of the screen.
Then just use your audio lag number from RB2 and adjust it if needed.
Forcing yourself to learn on bad calibration is a huge handicap in the end because you will never be able to reach your full potential, no matter how used to it you get. On the easier difficulties the calibration differences probably won't matter but you will eventually get to a point where you're mentally/physically able to play certain patterns but the calibration will prevent you from hitting them, and that is extremely frustrating.
On another note I've been making quite a few DJ Hero vids for Youtube lately, http://www.youtube.com/user/midgetspy if anybody's interested. I've gotten a lot better since I first started playing - I've got some videos of FCs and #1 PSN scores up there :-D
So does that mean I have to get 5 other mics in order to properly do the rap songs? One guy doing the yea yea yeas, one guy doing the uh uh uh uhs, another to do the break it down... etc?

i see it used at a local shop for $30 regularly, but really i have a few other games coming soon i want before going back to that one.
it's funny, this is probably one of the few games where i decided i wanted the game based on the demo alone. i was entirely disinterested in it until i tried it at best buy. i really like the controls even if the cross-fader is a bitch to learn.
I wish the sample song for DJ Hero 2 was still there for download. It looks like they took it down from XBL for some reason.

The reason being timed release.
I was tempted to sell my table and game a while ago, but after I let my ex borrow the setup and somehow the battery door went missing when I got it back. Which means there is now no way in hell anyone will take the turntable so I'm stuck with it.

Used copy at gamestop + Left 4 Dead trade in = $35 DJ Hero!
Oh my god the 50 Cent/David Bowie was worth every penny of $35 already
Add me and we can DJ battle as soon as I got my copy back from a friend who's borrowing it
Also, does the PS2 controller work with the PS3 like with rock band?
And Unbreakable, Marks, we should totally get together and cut/scratch some jams.

It was kinda "meh", and that's coming from a Lady Gaga fanboy
I can't wait to see what they do with her in the full game though
