I've been playing (cheating kinda, have laptop mode and casual mode turned on) for awhile now and I'm on level 46. I just now figured out how to buy chickens and sisters. Like just this very second when I was reading this thread. I didn't know what the fuck you guys were talking about when you said you were buying chickens lol.
I can't get past level 12, no matter how hard I try.
Are you guys just restarting when you lose? Or do you continue, despite the fact that some medals are made unattainable?
I just start back from the menu, not much changes.
I just unlocked Noble class by beating Sheriff class, and it's a LOT easier with the massive XP bonus. I'm on Day 5 and level Lv. 7 with 2 other recruits. I haven't lost a HP off the castle yet.
It seems like the weapon drops conspire against me, no matter what class I pick i'm always stuck using the level 1 starting gun at day 12+. Right now my sheriff is still using his level 1 shotgun at 13, although both my helpers have grenade launchers which is kinda cool
Any idea what those statues are for? They say stuff about the enemies; I wonder if they give you some sort of protection, or if they're just supposed to be sold.
I'm up to Day 32 with a Lv. 38 Noble and interested in what others are doing.
I saved up until I had 3 recruits, then spent most of my money on chickens. Only way I got past lv. 15 was with those bowguns. Right now I'm using a Rapid Bowgun with 2/3 mods (lv. 1 leech/lv. 1 accuracy) which "only" does 14 damage, but I can basically spray the whole screen and hit bosses multiple times. I'll probably upgrade my Rapid Bowgun soon, but lack of mods is not helping.
Main skill I'm using is the bow master which penetrates enemies which I got to lv. 10, now I'm working on accountant.

Active is one of the best skills you can shoot for. If you ever see it available, get it. It's random, but you'll love those days that you have 10+ ap to spend. It's also worth earning the medals for things like praying, robbing the museum, taunting the enemy, and such.. You'll get AP boosts from some of those.
Start turning guns into those mods, and hope for the best. Also be sure to always place a worthless mod in the final slot so you'll keep the better ones when you upgrade. I usually use something a little worthwhile like accuracy or damage.
And yeah, I just found a shottie with four slots on it. Guess they're just stupidly rare. Keep them if you find one, and grind it up.

If you load your savegame, it's not. Usually if you can't beat a level, you can hire a henchman (free, but your next map's reward is at 50%) to get past it. Every hench I've seen so far fires freaking grenades.
So...it turns out despite being a frickin' laser pistol the laser pistol..well..sucks. worst gun i've seen yet..and i sold all my other guns to get the money for it..ohnoes?
Anybody know how to get the Unseen Hand medal? I kill nearly every enemy with criticals and still haven't gotten it. I figured it was 50 crits or so but unless I miscounted last round this wasn't it.

geeze, you guys weren't kidding, bowguns are the best thing ever. I'm on day 26, can take down an entire row of anything short of tanks in one shot, and heal the castle walls about 5 hitpoints per shot thanks to the insane damage + life leach, i tried out ragnorak and took out all the dragons myself before any of them could get a hit off, i don't even need helpers.

Pretty sure your ally criticals count, too.
I'm pretty sure they didn't when I was trying to get the Assassin medal. I counted only my own and as soon as I hit 30 (my ally had a few himself already) I got the medal.
edit: what's this latest update?? "fixed stats for the rapid bowgun"
I also forgot to mention that it was only counting the critical hits that resulted in a kill, not just ones that make the screen flash. You have to shoot an enemy and it has to actually say "x Shot"
How do you guys determine which guys you want to recruit? I've just gotten anyone I can, but now that I'm full, I'm thinking of dismissing one or two for some more favorable class types.
Get a guardian. They have the defender skill, which has a chance to null damage to you castle. maxed out, the chance is 25%. I'd also recommend a militia. Free grenades are always a good thing.
You know, I was just quickly playing the rogue to 10 to unlock his extra class and get the Robber medal, so I dumped all my cash into Little Sisters. Those things are fucking brutal. 1 isn't very useful, but once you've got half the map covered in what are effectively land mines, things get pretty simple.
Also, I have to wonder how they're still alive after suicide bombing.
Oh man, I bought a rapid bowgun with 5 mods on it. It already had a lv. 3 accuracy mod, but a lv. 1 anti-air as well, luckily it's in the last slot, and I have to upgrade it anyways. Then just now during mod shop day, I found a lv. 3 leech mod.
>.>
For party skills like Active, it's pointless to level it if your party member already has it maxed right? It just takes the highest skill level of the party?
For those who've gotten the Unseen hand medal, any tips? I've been using a bow gun mostly, so that might be it.
Once I get the Sister medals, I'll probably check the Bosses only drop mods option. Hopefully I won't have to recycle as much to get lv. 3 mods.

I'll try that.

I actually have a pistol right now that has four slots.
Sheriff -> Noble
Rogue -> Duelist
Militia -> Sniper
Ranger -> ???
Hunter -> Ranger :P
The shotgun the Sheriff starts out with is pretty rad, its got 4 upgrade slots.
-edit-
Humm... level 16. Got there with a sheriff with 4 damage mods on a shotgun.
No shit? I'm almost at day 80, and I don't think I've seen a single one of those.

damage you do heals the castle walls

Yeah, I haven't come across another leech mod yet, but even at level 1, I rarely have to repair during battle.
I also upgraded to a Rapid Bowgun MK-2 and it kicks ass.
One of my recruit has a "Breeder" skill which I've selected, which gives out more eggs, >.>
And just as I say that, I see a leech mod for sale. Awesome.
I see a Bowgun with 5 slots, but I'm not touching it. I

Also, make it bigger? It's uber tiny on my screen.
