Are those weapons concept art for a game? I know Guild Wars had a competition for fans like that once.

I really love all of this, especially the rendering on those weapons

I love the warm palate and strong sense of motion in that first one. And those weapon renders are pretty damn sweet - except I'm not really feeling the sword. Maybe it's too rounded - it just doesn't feel very blade-like to me.

    Thanks for the comments.

For the weapons, I made them on Second Life. I was bored and wanted to try Second life building system and these were created as a result. Some were dismantled and recreated due to errors in the original construction.

Here are some my older pieces. These may not be as great as the one's I first showed.

Posted some more art. But apparently it has to be approved before it will show up on the forum.

updating midnight sun. It still needs some fixing, but its practically done.

But not too sure about that, considering I'm the type who constantly revises his work.

That one thing that looks like it's some kind of wing attachment collar looks really, really cool. How did you get the blue things to look transparent like that? It's an awesome effect!

  • FrozenTempestFrozenTempest Registered User regular
oh, you mean the wings from weapons and wears?

I created the stuff in Second Life years ago. I was curious of their 3D building feature. Its transparent because the I lowered the transparency of the texture. You can also used transparent textures.

Really like these two a lot. What I particularly love about the second one is that the woman could be 22 or she could be 48. There is flawless skin but also hints of grey in her hair. It adds a layer of mystery which is very engaging. Really like the textural quality of the shawl too.

I feel like in a lot of these you are letting your smaller brush strokes get away from you a little. Sometimes they seem controlled (like in fur and feathers) and sometimes they seem a little out of place and wild.

Are you in school or anything? Do you have areas where you are looking to grow? Is art a hobby or a career?

That could be because of my ocd. I tend to obsess over the details to the point that I sometime overlook obvious mistakes. I also find doing clean lines challenging. My drawings and paintings tend to look sketchy unless I take allot of effort.

I'm not taking any classes at the moment as I currently can't afford to take any. I'm planing on continuing my education once I can afford so.

I'm looking to grow every aspect. My paintings usually end up being a learning experience in themselves due to my curiosity and my overambitious nature. My current WIP is a practice piece with doing a painting completely black and white first. I threw some color on it to see how it would look so far with some color.

Art is definitely a passionate hobby at least. I enjoyed painting and drawing before I started any kind of schooling. I find painting drawing fun and relaxing most of the time, but It can get frustrating at time, especially when it feels like I'm not making any progress with a piece.

But I'm still not sure whether to pursue art as a career. I considered being a professional artist since kindergarten, but I'm not sure if I'll be successful in the field. I tend to take a really long time on my pieces and I heard that speed is essential to be a successful graphic designer.

Sorry I haven't update in a while. Haven't been painting much. I been busy helping around the house and looking for a job.

Have this for now. At least this is in time for halloween.

I'm thinking of trying to paint this piece again in a year or 2, with ghosts instead of stars in the sky.

That's a pretty cool take on Starry Night with Jack in it. Did you use the original while you were painting? I assume you were. I think it'd have been a bit better if you used more of the same style from the sky on the graveyard below. I think putting ghosts in the sky instead of stars would really defeat the purpose of the exercise. But that's just my opinion.
