The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
So I was listening to a favorite recording of Holst's First Suite in Eb, rejoicing in the recording, and specifically the huge, rumbling bass drum that I have pretty much never heard in any other recording.
On a whim, I decided to go look at reviews of this album (Cleavland Symphonic Winds with Fennell), and one of them mentioned the TELARC Bass Drum, and naturally I was curious. However, I am unable to find anything of real substance on this magnificent sounding drum, only vague mentions as to it's low end prowess, often in speaker reviewing.
So, what exactly makes the TELARC bass drum special, are there multiple versions of it, basically, what makes it special? Also, what does it look like?
TELARC is a record label. I'm quite positive you're just hearing an exceptionally well recorded and produced recording of a standard orchestral bass drum. The reference to "the TELARC bass drum" is just a recognition of this very well done piece of audio engineering.
