Why? I'm playing sword & board right now, so I'm kinda curious how the two-handers work.

I only have that problem with the person I'm currently controling. I just pause the game and select a new target manually.

I believe there is a "Party Hold Button" or something like that under all the portraits. If it is set to "Hold" instead of "Free Move", they will stand around like a bag of dicks. I ran into that problem last night.

It is, however, extremely useful when you want to go exploring with your rogue character on stealth and get a backstab in at the beginning of the fight by using your other characters as bait.

I may or may not be making a rogue next play through :P

I'm loving two handers myself, since they don't need dex at all (unlike some of the shield skills) I can split those points between strength and Con, the increased Con seems to be making me have even more survivability than Alistair with his shield and the strength means i'm doing 3-4x his damage.

Next level i'm going to need to pick another skill chain for my warrior though (just maxed combat training) and i have no idea what to go with..i guess poisons since you need it to poison weapons and that seems to be the only thing party members can't take care of

edit: also leliani is the most annoying party member ever, she seems to spit out -5 or -10 influences whenever I do *anything*

Played a couple of hours last night as a human noble; I've just headed out on the Darkspawn blood/old treaties quest - good times so far.

Combat controls on the 360 are a bit annoying, but I've actually started playing with the tactics for the other party members, so we'll see if that helps. Also, being a bit of a pack-rat, I wonder: are gems, wolf pets and the like worth keeping, or should I be selling that junk for better gear?

I played a bit on the 360 yesterday. Haven't even got out of the castle on my human noble warrior. Like the art style of old fantasy RPG so far. It's done well, although I do think my "sudden monster rats in the larder" was worth an eye roll, it was a nice intro to combat. It was pretty tough finding something to hit with the dog running around though.

and afterwards coming out totally spattered with gore from the giant rats was hilarious.

Man making Morrigan happy is a pain in the ass. BAsically have to be a dick to everyone. But shes hotter than Leilani so it must be done.

Wish the party could be bigger, there sa few good characters here Id like the chance to involve in conversations. This is one negative to a very long rpg, replayability chances are low.

Yeah, good times until you start getting ambushed by 5+ darkspawn popping out of the fucking ground every 10 feet and then wailing on the puny mage and you don't have a taunt ability yet on your tanks and graaaaaaaah!

The frost tree is a thing of beauty. I have Frost up to cone of cold and stone for stone fist. Shattering a frozen target is awesome. I've also got that PBAoE mind blast spell. It helps stun everyone, and also helps me get into better position for a cone of cold.

I think I'm going to go down the Mind Blast line until crushing prison, giving me another disable and another shatter spell.

Also since I'm rocking an MC mage with frost and Morrigan, I can have morrigan pick up tempest while I grab blizzard for some tag team Storm of the Century action.

Anyone know if the heroic line of spells can be self applied? I'm looking for a few spells that can either self buff me, or regenerate my mana. I was sad when regenerate could not be self applied, so I had to skip it.

I can already tell that my first playthrough is going to be over 100 hours. The codex is like lore porn. I've already found a few hidden sidequests and spawnable monsters from it.

Another thing I like is the little summary on the loading screen. I do not think I will play any other game for a long long time, but the reminder is nice for people that play several games at once.

So I played a female elf warrior. What a damn good origin story! Fucking awesome!
The description in the character generator is about how you are getting married, but a Human Noble crashes the party to take you to his palace for some raping. Little does he know you are awesome.

But God Damn! The story is well-done. The dialogue is superb. I got choked up at one point due to it.It is pretty unfortunate that character animations are so terrible.

If I remember my loading screens correctly, Spell Bloom should help your mana regeneration rate.

Don't know if you can only apply on others or on yourself as well, though.

Then there's also... what was it called... Spell Wisp or something? An early spell in the Creation field, I'm pretty sure. It makes your spells a bit more powerful.

The weapon has to have an empty box in it's description, and you have to have a rune. If it doesn't have that empty box, it can't be enchanted.

This should seem like common sense, but I just realized that playing tactically really fucking matters in this game. With mage spell friendly fire, you have to seriously think about where you are putting your party members. I just had a fight where I had to pull all my front line fighters back, so my mage could run up and fireblast a whole row of archers. It was sort of my eureka moment in terms of just how tactical this game is. I dare say it can border on near RTS levels of tactics at times.

Only particular items can be enchanted. On the... erm... item information screen underneath its stats, there might be an empty black square (possibly more, I don't know if that's possible). If it's got an empty black square down there, you can place a rune in it and enchant it. If it doesn't have the square, you can't.

If you're having trouble with assigning targets to your party members, change their behavior from default to something else.

Having them that way only makes them attack if they are attacked. So if they kill something, and aren't being attacked, they do nothing.
Now, if they're standing around WHILE being attacked, which I've experienced, then there is not much I can say that will fix that aside from assigning another target.

I'm definitely making a rogue on the next go-round. I had no idea how many locked doors and chests I'd be bumping into and for whatever reason Bioware decided not to include a "smash lock" option for people who aren't/don't have rogues.

Also, I need to figure out how to do the 'pause and command' thing on the 360. Everyone's on auto-fight mode and it's starting to get me killed. Lots.

Also also: why can't I use injury kits from the inventory screen? Grr.

I guess that shows how well the npcs are crafted towards different playthroughs, I'd consider myself as doing a "good" playthrough, in that I tend to kill anyone evil and help people who need it, for doing this morrigans approval is through the roof and leilani is quite deep in the negatives D: The fact that I hate the chantry and tell them to basically fuck off at every opportunity may also be a contributing factor
