Okay, so as spoiler free as possible, I have a question to ask.
I know Justice for All case 4 has two endings. What I want to know, is if the point of no return is the
End of the first day of the trial. Where you have to either press Andria or go instantly for a not guilty verdict. I went for Not Guilty and got chewed out by Edgeworth. I think De Killer just wants the Not Guilty verdict, but I'm unsure about the day one thing.
There is no point of no return. The two endings are if you can figure out the very last evidence presentation correctly or not.
I thought the point of divergence was
when you're asked if you want to push for a guilty or not guilty verdict. If you go for guilty, Engarde goes to jail but you lose the case; if you go for not guilty, you win, he goes free, but De Killer promises to hunt him down and kill him. Granted, I haven't played that case in a couple years.
It doesn't matter what you answer there, although the choice is thrown back at you during the ending (I think, this might just be a "whatever you chose defines you as a lawyer" sort of deal with no actual dialogue change).
JFA Ending Spoilers Ahead
The real split ending is when you have to present two pieces of evidence in order to convince De Killer that Engaurde betrayed him (going by memory about the purpose, it's been a while, but I do know that the two pieces of evidence is definitely correct). If you fail, De Killer protects his client, states that he alone was responsible for the murder, and Engaurde gets off. Maya holds true to her promise to never see Phoenix again if Engaurde gets a Not Guilty verdict, and Phoenix quite as a lawyer and ends up a homeless bum. Get it right and De Killer realizes Engaurde betrayed him, at which point De Killer confesses the terms of the deal, leading to Engarude's breakdown.
Whether you choose the Guilty or Not Guilty for Engaurde makes no difference in the ending of the game. If you choose guilty, Engaurde accepts it as saving him from De Killer and is thankful to be locked up. If you choose Not Guilty, Phoenix first sarcastically points out that De Killer will hunt down Engaurde and then asks for the Not Guilty, at which point Engaurde breaks down in a fit of terror and confesses. In both cases Phoenix is staying true to the truth. The "Guilty" keeps things in the justice system, the "Not Guilty" is more of a "You wanted to get off? Well technically you weren't the murderer so I got you off, have fun with that." The choice otherwise makes no difference at all.

I'd still argue that's the difference between an elaborate Non-Standard Game Over and an Actual Ending, but given that in Visual Novel's there's not really a functional difference it probably doesn't matter
I'm torn on the Delight case. I loved the weak but courageous Ron and his selfish but ultimately loving wife. It was hilarious how NO ONE would believe he was a master thief. But gawd, Atmey was amongst the worst cross examines in the series, along with that lying girl of a Chef in the next case.
I really enjoyed Tiger as a villain, because it was cool to seek Wright take down a scary mob boss with no random Mia intervention, no fisticuffs, and a bit of clever bluffing. No sob stories, no accidents, just murder and crime, which is surprisingly rare in this series. Even Godot mentioned, finally, that Wright is a Lawyer to be feared.
As to Godot himself, after case four, it's blindingly obvious as to his real identify. He sounds like Grey Fox in more ways than one, a final battle to see if he's really alive. His coffee addiction and obscure metaphors are pretty amusing too.
On the final case now, and it's great to see (and play) as Edgeworth for once. A lot of detail, especially the examinations and court scenes, really are insightful into how he thinks. He's really the series' Sherlock expy. The return of Franszika was also a nice bonus, but pretty heavily foreshadowed by the secret ending of game 2. Phoenix Wright is a crazy mofo, and you can't tell me he doesn't have some hidden feelings for Maya.. he ran across a BURNING BRIDGE to try to help her.
And Iris, Iris, Iris. I still have no read on her now. She's a crazy, spiteful demon bitch who killed two people... but this current incarnation of her appears to be at least slightly more truthful. Whether or not this is a carefully calculated plan or not, remains to be seen.
One of the things that's most satisfying about this series is the sense of accomplishment you get when you crack a really difficult piece of testimony or present the right evidence with no errors, or survive a difficult trap of the Prosecution... why its enough to make you feel like a genius!
You gotta replay 3-5 at least once and observe absolutely everything during the investigation phases when you have different sidekicks. Some of them say some absolutely ridiculous things.
I don't mind so much if he ends up with someone else nice, but it's pretty clear right now that he has deep feelings for her. I mean, even Pearls is a shipper.
I know a few AJ spoilers in regards to
how Phoenix gets barred from being a Lawyer and ends up a cardshark with his adopted daughter.
but the rest of his inter-personel stuff, I have no clue about.
You'll like playing AJ, I predict, but you won't particularly enjoy what it's done for the purposes of its overall 'moral'.
And BIGOD I hope you're surprised by the Iris situation.
Throwing Phoenix under a bus to make the new guy look cool?
I think what would even some of that resentment out is the fact that Phoenix is the universe' chew toy to begin with. His success is reliant upon his skills, not his luck. Which is awful.

There's an amusing running gag about Phoenix's luck in AJ that I'd rather not spoil.
Oh FFFFFFFF
I think I just figured how who the REAL killer is. (Maya is on the stand now by the way).
The OTHER OTHER person who wasn't accounted for the day of the crime.
Who no one could get a hold of...
Well, thus far, case 3-5 certainly has had the most twists and turns of any case. But personally, I think all the back and forth spirit medium stuff weakens it a bit and the whole
moving the body with a pendulum from a burning bridge
was pretty dumb actually.
So, for the time being, case 2-4 still reigns supreme as my favorite Ace Attorney case to date.
Well, this is depressing. Final cross examination and it's clear to me what happened. I feel bad for the accused, but a Lawyer's duty is to find the truth. More thoughts after I finish the game.
The only thing I don't get is
Why Godot blamed Wright so fervently for "failing" to protect Mia. Very illogical. Mia herself never told Wright she was investigating Redd White, so how could he have any inkling at all she was in danger?

Emotional irrationality, it's good enough reasoning for me.
Well, a fine case through and through. But it wasn't as satisfying an ending as 2-4 in my opinion. Sure, it wrapped up a lot of lose ends from the origional series, but for some reason the ending felt a bit lacking. We never see any resolution with
Maya becoming a Master, any of the romance triangles, Godot is just assumed as dead since his sentencing, not to mention Morgan Fey.
I just feel like the end of JFA had a bigger single, emotional punch of nailing the villain and saving the day, while this one was more about resolving the series.
The spoiler I referred to above was:
Morgan Fay having THREE Goddamn daughters, Dahlia being one of them, and that Iris wasn't actually Dahlia, and it was all a conspiracy to usurp Maya's position as Master of Kurain.
I think the lack of mention of Iris is worse than the lack of mention of Maya/Edgeworth/etc.
Edgeworth and Maya were both mostly resolved, at least. Phoenix was on given terms with each of them, and each had reasons that they wouldn't have been around at the time which AJ takes place. But the ending of TT, and the whole "I'll wait" shtick just being completely forgotten bugs me to no end.
Considering how popular the series is, I doubt we'll never see them again.
I'm surprised though at the lengths the series goes inorder to preserve its ship-teases though. I mean, other than Gumshoe and Larry, not a SINGLE main cast character has any sort of current romantic relationship. I mean, Edgeworth I understand both for story reasons (He's basically Sherlock Holmes with a fluffy collar and a phobia of Earthquakes), and practical ones (can't dump those Yaoi fangirls!), but the rest are pretty ridiculous.

"In my long career as a judge, I have been deceived by many witnesses."
I cannot express how hard I LOL'ed, if only because I know this Judge well.
Ranks up there with suspecting Pheonix of hiring an assassin to kill him.
This series has probably the best localization I've ever seen. Beyond even Final Fantasy VI.

The head of the team which did FFXII's localization is the same guy who did this series, if memory serves.
They did a talk at PAX.
Interesting turn of events, I'm interested to see how well he does at his latest, 'profession'. :P
Sure, the first game's is iconic and remixed to shit, but this one is insanely catchy.
"A Breach? Here? Bailiff! Get my steed! We need to retreat at once!"
I'm not sure I've ever laughed at a game so hard.
Actually, my favorite music bit thus far is the orchestral medley court suite from the first game. Yeah, that's three songs, but it's hard to pick.
