You know machinegun, you keep talking about how obvious it is that Maya and Phoenix have the hots for each other, but I really never saw it that way. Their relationship always seemed more like brother and sister than anything else.
Maybe the 8 year or so age difference contributes to that impression.
Heh, the Schadenfreude one was the best. As far as arrangements go, the orchestra stuff is all awesome.
Turnabout Sisters theme is my favorite non-court piece.
PW1 has the best 'cornered' music, although all three are great.
PW2 has my favorite 'steadily closing in' cross examination music.
PW3 has the best 'pre-court' music.
Well, I think it's pretty clear Phoenix feels pretty weird about it because it's Mia's sister. I can't remember exactly, but there were a few moments in each game where Phoenix basically admits he's sorted attracted to her, but brushes it off. Same with Maya. The age thing isn't really a big deal. I mean, Gumshoe is 30 and Maggie is 22 fer crying out loud.
After T&T though, I'd be happy with
Iris, since she's the one he actually had a relationship with, not Dahlia
.
Anyway, I may be able to bum Apollo Justice off of a friend for the holidays, so at least I can finish up the series before school starts up again.
Then it's the wait till Investigations and beyond. :P
Maybe, but there is a lot of subtext and ellipses and pregnant pauses slipped in some of those dramatic moments. Ships have been created from far, far less. Either way works I guess, I'm just fond of Maya driving Wright up the wall.
You should also know, I now obsessively scan for step-ladders. Just for the dialog.
I've heard rumors of
hobo Phoenix
in Apollo Justice, but I'm going in with an open mind. It's all in the execution.

It's not 100% accurate anyway.
AJ was weird for me be because case one was the best, I thought. 2 was "okay," 3 was silly and bad and annoying, and 4... I don't even want to talk about 4.
edit: Actually, regarding the thing about Nick and Maya...does anyone else ever get taken aback when they show a non sprite drawing of them? Nick is taller and more built than I'd expect, and Maya is very petite.
Also always wears sandals, no matter what the weather, but that's another story.

The ending shot from the second one where he hugs her really threw me for a loop because apparently the dude is freakin' barrel-chested.

There's can be quite a bit of difference between 17 and 22 though, albeit Maya and Maggie may not be the best of examples.
Also, here's some early concept art before the main characters were finalized:
From left to right it goes defense attorney, prosecutor, legal assistant, mentor, detective. Pretty much none of the designs really stuck, except the detective design looks like it eventually switched over to mentor to become a starting point for Mia's design.
I tracked down two of the official comics which were pretty awesome.
One was Gumshoe, dilligently cutting up confetti before each trial, and Edgeworth stiffing him on the bill for the fireworks and doves.
The other was Phoenix, Maya and Edgeworth at a TV studio. Through some pretty funny mix ups, Wright ends up duped into playing a Prosecutor where he has to solve a murder in 10 minutes on live TV, while Miles gets stuck with Maya on a Steel Samurai quiz show.
Apollo Justice: Rather... bland, okay I get it he's nervous, but he doesn't have much of his own personality.
Phoenix Wright: Holy shit! When did he become such a bad ass mutha? He's freaking intimidating with that "no eyes" shark grin. Definitely the true hero so far.
Kristoph: Scary glasses Euro lawyer, the worst kind.
And thoughts on Case 1:
Okay, so, Phoenix has been disbarred for forging evidence. New kid works for his punk boss who happens to be the murderer. Then Wright comes cruising in like a gangsta and basically wins the case, pwns Payne, and demolishes the true villain without even his Lawyer Badge. It's clear from the get go, Apollo is just Wright's tool in this instance. I thought the fake evidence bit with the card showed that Wright matured from his early days, and made him a bit more like Edgeworth. He forged evidence to get the murderer, even if it was breaking the 'law' it helped lead to the truth. I loved that, "Only the killer has a right to say if this is a fake or not," line.
Wright as a cardshark? Makes sense, he's good at reading people from his time as a lawyer. Also has an adopted daughter named Trucy.
Udgey is back in fine form. The sprites are a bit more detailed, but nothing major. Music is good, the 'cornered' music is great, very different from the others.
The case itself wasn't too hard. But I love the little touches they added, Wright's finger pointing, Kristoph's chakra levitating lobsters during his breakdown, Payne's hairdo which got even MORE hideous.
The single best bit was when I blew one of the diagram analysis' and Wright just does this badass chuckle and is like, "Ah ha! You remind me of the good old days kid!"
So far, Apollo reminds me of Raiden, but without an interesting personality and talents of his own. That's bad.
He doesn't get much better. Phoenix pretty much overshadows everything Apollo does. Which is nice, because, you know, more Phoenix. But Apollo is such a non-character, it's a wonder they didn't just make the game first person and say "YOU are the lawyer".
The gimmick of identifying people's nervous ticks is kinda cool, but it should give some kind of hint on what evidence you're supposed to present, rather than being FORCED to find it each and every time to progress. So you identify a nervous tick, so what? And why did you just BLAB to your examinee that you now know said tick?
It's too difficult as well, because not only do you have to find the twitch or whatever, you need to catch it on the exact word.
Guh, some of the later ones were a pain in the ass to find.
I thought Apollo Justice was alright. I'm just waiting for a sequel to develop the characters more. I have a feeling that I'll really get to like the new characters, but it's just not there yet for me.
Best parts of AJ were definitely Ema and hobo Phoenix.

Trucy is fine, just a lovable, goofy kid with a magic obsession. Apparently, I'm tasked with pursuing a Noodle stand thief and recovering her panties. Oh Japan, you never change.
And I got a chuckle out of how Phoenix ended up in the hosptial. That was the luck joke I assume?

What's that? Are you breathing slightly heavier than usual? Looks like we found our MURDERER!
"You're lying, I can tell because your nose twitches.
"Damn, ok, I am."
Instead it should have been used in investigations like the stone in 2 and 3. Then you'd need to present evidence to get them to fess up.
This would have been a much better implementation of the system.

Also, I just finished the Demo of Miles Edgeworth (demo kept freezing up earlier) and I have to say, I'm excited for this game.

Demo?
Is this something accessible to somebody in the U.S. with a DS Lite?
Which one is he again?
Yeah, if you check the official site for the game, there's a Flash demo.
