How about Halo 2 for the PC? I need some of the matchmaking cheevos, and since they took Halo2 matchmaking offline, I can no longer get them unless its at a LAN.

    .......are you being serious?

Halo 2? For the PC?... What?

They took Halo 2 matchmaking offline for PC? That's precious.

Total Annihilation, 2v2, Gods of War. Because it's Total freakin' Annihilation and it's awesome fun.

Also, +1 for TF2 cevo rules

    I can't believe no-one's suggested these:

    Tribes 2 (awesome multiplayer)
Quake 3 Arena (or Quake Live) (father of competitive online FPS)

    CLASSICS

Also, if enough people have it, Shattered Horizon. Original FPS, great graphics.

    Hey, I'm also a TF2 competitive player.
    [Gamename] Team Fortress 2
    [Mod] CEVO Configurated servers
    [number per team] 6

[Description/Argument Why It Should Be Tournament'd]
-The game looks good and plays good.
-Takes strategy, yet new players can still hop in and enjoy it.
-I wish to see the TF2 competitive scene grow a lot bigger. This game looks really good in action and the competitive community is willing to help new players learn.

    Aliens Vs. Predator anyone?
    Old school style.

Why it should be played? You'll never play a game with your friends that will involve more screaming, yelling, shouting, crying, and cursing than a few hours of AVP at a LAN Party.

I would love to see Left 4 dead, but moreso left 4 dead 2. If L4D2 is being played I'm sure my sponser would want to send our team as well. Maybe a little self serving, but I really would like to go for free ;)

This is actually a pretty good idea. The new one drops on Feb. 16.

    [Gamename] Team Fortress 2
    [Mod] cevo or esea config
    [number per team] 6v6

[Description/Argument Why It Should Be Tournament'd]
The competitive format is very similar to what average gamers play, its exciting to watch and there are many community members in the area.

    [Gamename] Bejeweled Blitz
    [Mod] Facebook
    [number per team] 1v1, 2v2...up to 4v4
[Description/Argument Why It Should Be Tournament'd] First and foremost, ridiculously fast rounds. You can't get much faster than a minute a game. Second, it's ridiculously fun and addicting. Finally, the winners would be the team with the highest summed score after 3 games. And besides, everyone has Facebook ;) right?

Games That NEED to be there

    Counter-strike
    TF2
    Left 4 Dead 2
    Quake Live
    DoTA or HoN

I'd like to see the ball get rolling on this, because a lot of sponsors like to know early before sending their teams out what the games and prizes are. If any admin needs help with organizing this, throw me a PM.

This is NOT what PAX tourneys are about. There are no elaborate prizes (cash or otherwise). Tourneys are mostly for fun. The best prize you will likely get is a PAX medal.

This whole make an account just to post in here is kind of lame. This is not the community speaking but some random TF2 "uber 1337" players wanting to desperately to see their game of choice pushed through. If you had even a clue what was going on in this thread you would not be speaking about I NEED TO KNOW BECAUSE OF SPONSORS AND WHAT ARE THE PRIZES!

So feel free to get involved and participate i would love to see new people come and enjoy pax east but don't expect some quasi-professional gaming tournament its gamers having fun.

none of the uber leet tf2 players are coming to this lan, at least not to win a lan tournament. if you look over at gotfrag (thats where competitive tf2 players are) youll see its just people who were already planning on going to pax east anyways. but yeah as for that guy talking about sponsors, thats dumb, and you dont have to worry about like complexity or pandemic showing up...

its alot more fun for the average gamer to just pick up and play, as well as watch compared to the other stereotypical lan games (cs, cod, dota)

I'm all for people being excited about their competitive game and garnering some exposure for competitive play. But Anyone's expectation of e-sports being anything more than a niche sport (table tennis, foosball, chess) for the foreseeable future is off their rocker.

Korea being the exception. But over there its a national past time. . .in which case we're discussing something completely different.

Give it another generation or two. Given a long enough time line, anything could happen. Especially since those other fringe sports are being replaced by gaming (who plays bridge any more?).

Until then, create accounts and post to your heart's content. I'm here for you baby!
