The problem is you can only have two characters in the demo and if you have more than that (From a full account) you can't make new heroes even if you have slots open.

Make another account and don't make any characters, just save the costumes and load them when you want to ogle them.

^ That's what I do. You can use one slot on the free trial. And keep the other slot free to save/create new and play around with the character creator.

Really, the only penalty between a trial costume creator Champions Online and the paid-for verison is the C-Store items/pre-order items.

i have to say I am once again enjoying this game, rocked through the Vibora Crisis stuff which was awesome, and now switching back to one of my zillion alts in some attempt to make a guy as awesome as my main. So far have been focusing on my CoX main recreation, a single sword kabuki mofo, what are some good single sword skills, I took lightning reflexes as a defensive passive and so far its not too bad.

as well I have a power armor guy I have been enjoying as well.. not sure where to go with her tho.

Pile up some Int, it makes quite a hefty difference (or, did when I still played). When I respecced my Telepathy character into the Int superstat she went from just barely having enough energy to fire off an AoE and get Reverberation to start returning energy on the second tick to "whatever, bitches".

Bill Roper said "Soon" on Twitter the other day. I went ahead and spent my Retcon last night that I had been saving.

Of course tonight is "play with the Devs" night, so I wouldn't think the patch would go live tonight.

I'm not sold on them getting rid of the momentum mechanic for melee. But, the changes/additions to the powers look pretty good.

And, you're right- who gives a shit about PVP? In a game like this, PVP is always going to come down to min-maxing. The developers are wasting their time if they're trying to balance PVP.

    honestly, my metric is this:

am i able to play consistently and intelligently without dying to groups of henchmen?

    if yes: having fun

    if no: annoyed

am i able to completely faceroll or get up and get a drink mid-combat because the game is so easy or i just have to spam one attack

    if yes: annoyed

    if no: having fun

somewhere in there, there's a sweet spot

for a game like champs, it's not hard to hit that sweet spot

pvp, so far as i am concerned, should never be a focus for balance and to be perfectly frank i wish it didn't exist

so if the pvp community cries or feels marginalized

    good.

Momentum is more or less back, as Rush. The difference is you now have to have stacks of Focus to use it, and its a Dex-dependent energy over time thing instead of a power cost discount.

My take on this is- who cares? If someone else finds a way to min-max their build so they can blow through the content, so be it. If that's how you want to play the game, go ahead.

I look for immersion in a game like CO, so my character has to make sense- his powers need to fit a theme, rather than being a hodgepodge of powers picked because they lead to the easiest levelling.

I guess I just don't care how other people play the game, so long as I can play the way I want to.

Seriously. The game is suffering from too many nerfed powers which are lame and gay, and a few that are fucking awesome.

I can barely stand to play my electricity character, which makes me sad because I like his costume a lot, because gigavolt is just retarded overpowered. Yes, I realize that I could simply not use it, but what I'd be left with would be really gimpy. I put him on hold, hopefully when the energy powers get looked at electricity will find some much needed balance, with gigavolt perhaps forming the core of the set, but not being the only power you need to use - pretty much ever.

    -edit-

I'm not very hopeful though... from what I've read about how the fireball advantage stacking + conflagration = god mode is going to be dealt with (advantage nerfed into total, complete garbage worthless) these devs have not learned to swing the nerf bat gently.

Oh man for some reason I just realized that due to me just picking a particle at random for my Force Hero's name, I inadvertently set him up for the greatest nemesis ever.

His name is Neutrino, and science doesnt currently know whether or not Neutrinos are their own antiparticle. I just remembered this. So his nemesis will be like The Sentry/Void- Antiparticle, another force user with opposite colored blasts (red instead of blue, and he will look the same as neutrino but with different power lines, again red not blue) yet it turns out that Antiparticle only exists BECAUSE neutrino exists- he manifests because neutrino is his own antiparticle. He is the opposite of neutrino and he can never really be defeated.
