You guys ever think about how the internet has changed the way knowledge works?

I mean, I can't imagine having to write an essay or study for an exam or build a thing without having the internet. I consider myself a pretty smart / capable dude, but is that so or am I just an extension of our collective consciousness and knowledge viewed through our technological infrastructure? What implications does this have for my individuality?

Well, you know, given that you're going to have effete forest elves and dour underground dwarves and tower mages who keep to themselves and a church with political intrigue and the "civilized" other nation that looks down on your nation as barbarians and orcs I mean darkspawns and dragons.

I dunno. I guess they did fine coloring within the bold lines of Fantasy tropes. Once I got into some of the plots I enjoyed them and saw some of that Bioware brilliance but a whole lot of the dialogue I find myself Xing though because I just honestly don't give a shit about the ancient history of the legendary hero or a treatise on the nature of the Dark Forest.

I'm also going to have to wait and see where they go with it, but in terms of the Gray Wardens:
I am a huuuge sucker for the whole damning yourself to achieve your goals thing. Personally I'm hoping you die at the end since that would align pretty well with the whole unwavering selflessness that the wardens are supposed to symbolize, but we'll see.

The BBC World Service did a story on this last week. Apparently the Danes(?) are now testing for internet proficiency in public schools. A couple neckbeards were ticked off about it, saying it was the end of scholarly research. Someone born after 1970 said that it's a good requirement because holy fuck it's part of today's society get over it.

I support this idea. Rather than knowing minutia of specific subjects, kids need to be taught the basics of how things work, how to distinguish a good argument from a shitty one, and how to navigate the internet. And perhaps most importantly, somehow instill them with a desire to learn more, which is something I think schools today tend to discourage.

It was good. Only Rebecca Pidgin is I think not an actor who consistently plays quirky roles but just a regular bad actor.

Also David Mamet became a big Republican sellout during the later Bush years. So fuck him.

Yeah, Mamet is really into terrible stereotypical ideals of masculinity as only a nebbishy bearded Jewish guy can be. On the other hand I tolerate Pidgin because she is cute in a sort of witchy Renfest way.

On balance, I still love most of Mamet's movies, though, and (her aside) he gets these great casts for them. I loved sinister Ed O'Neill.

Town and Country was fuckin terrible and that one with Val Kilmer (Spartan, right?) was not awesome either.

Really I think I just really like Glengarry Glen Ross, and Mamet wasn't really all that involved with that one anyways.
