Hell, I got a couple of random friend requests just coming third in the crowd. I'd imagine The One is pretty overwhelmed as he's up on screen for ages.

When you show up in the top 3 repeatedly on night during live, you get 20 friends requests.
Also messages telling you to "get a life." Which is a strange position considering that the sender is also playing trivia.

Why would people add the top players? Hoping to somehow leech their knowledge or something?

God knows, do you think I accepted the friend requests from these strangers? :P I would imagine they either want to praise or abuse you for appearing on their screen.
My friend and I both managed to be in The Mob on the same night (Tuesday). She went up against the One who went all the way to 1vs1 and stopped there, while I went up against the One who was retarded enough to think that the I Have a Dream speech occurred at the time of the Gettysburg Address. I'm glad he didn't at least pick the Sermon on the Mount!
It told me that I was a winner and would get emailed about the game, but that has never happened. I don't really care about winning the game, but I'm kind of surprised that there was a problem. I tried emailing them and got back the generic "if you had a problem read all of these rules and fixes" support email. Has anyone else won things and had it work properly? If so, perhaps I should follow up and have them make sure there's nothing wrong with my gold account.
It was a blast to be in the Mob, and definitely added a good bit of tension to the live game. It also shows that you don't need to be amazing to get in there, you just need to play all the time, as I think it was in our case. I think it's interesting that they don't ask you if you want to be in the mob. They just assume that if you're signed in and playing, that you're actually in front of the Xbox. So, if you're playing, make sure you're paying attention at round start, just in case you're picked!
Edit: From what I've read, you can only be The One once a season, but you can be in The Mob one per Live episode. I like that, since it keeps things rotating enough that more than a select few get to play, but it doesn't eliminate you from being able to compete in the mob regularly if you are one of those select few.

It's supposed to take a few weeks for them to get your winnings to you, man, it's not like they have a crack team waiting to immediately send emails out to everybody who wins the second the game is over.
For some reason, that six consecutive instant answers achievment won't pop for me. I'm sure I've got it a few times, now. Finally got a decent streak of 14. That was nice. I have still to crack 40 thousand points in a round, though. That's a little embarassing, tbh.
Last night there was the question "What planet are we on". The Answers were Venus, Jupiter, and Earth. 458 people got it wrong. How does that happen?

Hell, 3 people got "What color is the A button on the 360 controller" wrong. And these were people in the Mob, not a situation where you want to answer incorrectly.
Anyway, Necroposting this because Mike and Jerry are going to be guest hosting this friday on the live show. That, and I've become a pretty avid player of late.

I've fucked that one up when it came up on the UK version. The answer is X - Green but when trying to get as fast an answer as possible the finger just twitches automatically and hits A when you read it.
I have a feeling the first question mob failures have managed to not notice they're in the mob. Theoretically to have qualified they must have played enough to know how the thing works by now.

I'd give that to you, but the answers were Red (x button), Green (a button), and Blue (b button). Plus it had the picture of the buttons on the screen. Anyway, anyone going to be playing this friday? I wouldn't mind joining some people.
I love playing this game, I haven't been selected for the mob yet. I guess you have to play everyday? My level is in the high 20's and I've answered 80% correct. I don't know, it's still great fun. I notice that the same three people are doing well all the time, every day. I see King of Pop every night. These people must be fucking geniuses.

Haven't seen King since he blew his chance as the One last month, which was actually the last time I played. Though I did see a lot of Shadeofblue in the top rankings before that.
Don't think you need to be that good though. I got my roommate to join me for a live show for his first time playing. Second round in, the fucker's in the Mob.
last night in the live show they asked "what company has the slogan 'let us do the driving'?"
and over 50 people in the mob got knocked out at once
it was the first question daaaamn

As you’ve probably seen by now, we are no longer developing 1 vs. 100 for Xbox LIVE.
We're sorry to have kept you waiting in suspense before having to deliver this kind of news. We fully understand how some of you may be upset about the announcement. We hope you understand that it wasn’t an easy decision to make and there was a great deal of deliberation.
Our team really enjoyed making 1 vs. 100. Working on it was unlike anything we’d worked on before. Seeing the passionate feedback and interaction from our players was always appreciated. Even though we spent our days at work bringing the game to you, we still enjoyed playing alongside you. Our colleagues on the writing team made us laugh, too.
We knew starting on this project, that 1 vs 100 was completely different and would be an idea we would continue to evolve. We’ve learned a lot from this experience and we’re committed to applying these lessons to the cool, new stuff we’re working on, but can’t yet discuss.
I'm guessing ad revenue wasn't high enough. About 99% of the time I played, both for standard and primetime games, the ads were just '1 vs 100' placeholder ads.
As I said in another thread, I think not having a lot more standard games throughout the week was a mistake. It limited their potential audience.

being the One now sets you to Busy automatically.
I can imagine some Ones were flooded with messages whilst onstage during the Beta. This makes sense.

Well I suceeded in my ambition and was in the mob!
I got question number 3 wrong...
Oh well, I'm still eligible to be 'The One' right?

streaming 1v100 for the forseeable future
edit: lol, the question was just "Which Wii game was shipped with an IGN watermark on the front cover?". Heh.
Stream's back up for a while.
I've tried dropping the stream quality because 1) 1v100 isn't really a sound centerpiece and b) it's mostly static screens anyway.
It's odd, but I just can't bring myself to care much about 1v100. Did they make any worthwhile changes since the beta?
skips are now "safeties" and will give you the points for a question but not any time bonus
leveling up rpg style
