I must have missed the convo option where she admits to planning this from the very beginning. Still it wasn't hard to figure out that was the case.
To me though, there's just entirely too much trust being placed in assumptions going on with the hellbaby scenario. You're assuming that the corruption will probably be gone due to the ritual, you're assuming that Morrigan won't do somethin entirely ghastly with it, hell you're also assuming that a child with the soul of an old god won't be much cleverer than Morrigan and escape her clutches to do horrible shit all of its own.
There are just so many ways this can go horribly horribly wrong. The achievement for going with Morrigan's plan is called Dark Promise (or something like that yes?) for a reason.
Edit: Lorek also makes a good point about how the Darkspawn seem to sense Old Gods. Fuck I didn't think of that.
Continued endgame/Morrigan talk:
It's a big risk. Just seemed like one my character would take. If he believes Morrigan's come to love him, then he also has to believe she'd come to love the child. Taking it on faith, as it were.
Anyhow, I was under the impression that pre-corruption the Old Gods were good guys. That maybe one of them would be nice to have around, if Morrigan didn't do whatever nefarious thing she's planning.
Continuing with spoilery stuff.
From what I know, the Old Gods were worshiped by the Tivinter Empire. It was the Old Gods who taught them Magic, and then the Old Gods who egged those mages on to invade the Golden City and cast down the Maker, in hopes that it would free them from the prison the Maker stuck them in. The Dark Spawn exist because of the Old Gods originally tricking the Mages to invade the Golden City. I wouldn't call that good.
Hmm. Don't remember reading that, of course I skipped some of the Codex entries. Is that just what the Chantry teaches though?
Even if it has nothing to do with the Maker it remains the case that
Dumat eggs Arch Magister Lords into entering Golden City. Whether there is a Maker that is related to the Golden City or not this was a VERY BAD THING that went horrendously wrong. There's little question whether or not the attempt to enter the Golden City caused the Blight. The ritual they used to physically enter the Fade is actually fairly well understood in that it was an epic feat of blood magic that killed hundreds and hundreds of slaves.
Honestly, I think there's reasonable doubt about almost all of the Chantry's teachings. Not that they're liars, but that this was all so long ago and so many people have a stake in which way the official story spins that I don't necessarily believe any of the religious explanation.
The only things I think are definitely reliable are: there was a Tevinter Imperium, with powerful mages; the first Blight happened during the time it ruled over most of Thedas; and it was eventually brought down by a rebellion/religious civil war.
What's funny is that some of the codex entries are different depending on your origin story. For example, the entry on the Blight is different for dwarves, mentioning that they claim to have encountered darkspawn before the whole Golden City episode.
And regarding Gax'Kang:
Yes he is immune to being shattered, but he is not immune to Forcefield, so you can use that to give yourself some breathing room to heal and regenerate stamina and mana while it is up. The only other thing about him is he seems to have absurdly high armor, so using things like telekinetic weapons or Shattering Shot help bring him down a lot quicker.
Does anyone know if there is a "New Game +"? I'd love to play again once I'm done with different party make up but with all the skills and levels. Probably on a harder difficulty.

So, dragon is dead. I can't seem to loot the damn thing though. It just lays there all majestic and necrotic. Tab highlights the thing, but I'll be damned if I can find the right pixel to click on. When I get home I might just have to reload and fight it over again to hope she collapses in a better position.

So after you finally get Leliana to +100 (love), it appears you can do anything you like. Including sleeping with Morrigan multiple times then walking over to Leliana and jumping right back into bed with her.
I wonder if I can still romance Zevran.

So what's this "potion respec" mod all about? Is that posted in the OP, or is it buried a few pages back? It's something I'd heavily consider, since there are probably a good chunk of talents I'd like to dump from Morrigan that the game forced me to have.
Also, since I have to ask with it being a player mod and all, anyone used it and noticed any issues with the game afterwards?
I used it last night for Morrigan and it seemed to work fine. I respecced her out of shapeshift and into healing.

I have several AoEs with both my main and Morrigan, but Morrigan always casts them in an inconvenient location - IE on top of Alister.
This is not inconvenient.
This is ...
... completely in-character. Man, those two in the party are an endless source of comedy.
I believe there are some unique combat quips that come up if you kill a character with friendly fire. Maybe it was just my imagination, but I recall Morrigan shouting at (dead) Zevran for not getting out of the way.
This game is lacking a lot of the polish I'd expect from BioWare.
There are some missing textures, a lot of clipping issues (especially with armor), and some other miscellaneous small insignificants that I'd never expect from BioWare

I dunno didn't the original KOTOR launch with some ugly bugs? I remember when I picked up bg2 I was told "Make sure to patch because there are some serious game breakers". They aren't as bad as say Bethesda and the oblivion games, but they have had their fair share of release day clunkers.

Zevran's just way too obvious, and plays too deeply into "bi people are just sluts" territory.
To be fair, the only bi person I've ever known was a total slut, so ...
To be fair, that's not fair at all.
[Note the edit; I forgot someone.]
But the point is that, sure it is - limited sample sizes result in statistical oddities. Thus, having a bi character in a game who happens to be a total slut doesn't mean or even imply that all bi people are sluts - no more so than my small personal sample size indicates the same.
To be fair, He

Absolutely! That's a good example of one of the things I really like about this game.

BG doesn't have any major bugs that aren't related to OS compatability. Kotor has a few graphics related bugs that I've seen.

Considering humans don't even remember that they didn't originate in Thedas, or that they stole a great deal of culture from the elves. Hell anything that happened more then 300 or so years ago they have no fucking idea if it's true or not. They are the WORST at actually sitting down and writing their history.

I know all that except for the part about owning up to causing the Blight, I don't recall if we ever learn what the Imperial Chantry believes specifically about that. If they do own up it, that's not proof to me - the Tevinters switched to Chantry beliefs sometime after Andraste's death, and the way I read the history I've found (with Archon Hessarian as the Constantine figure) it likely was a practical choice, as the Tevinter leadership had the choice of co-opting Andraste's cult or being deposed by it and predictably chose the former.
I didn't know that bit about the dwarves, but if their account (that they encountered darkspawn before the claimed date that the Magisters entered the Golden City) is correct that pokes more holes in the Chantry's version.
I think the Tevinter Magisters probably did enter the Golden City, but what exactly happened there and what its effects were are unclear. They may have been egged on by Dumat, but maybe not. If you're a crazy mage-lord you don't necessarily need a god egging you on to try and get more powerful.

There are a number of secret areas that you can only get to if you're in a specific form while in the Fade. They are spread through all of the zones except the Boss zone. You just need to go back to each Zone after you get all four forms and search carefully to make sure you get them all.

I'm guessing there is no way back into the fade once you complete it? Oh well, I'm an overpowered arcane warrior/mage anyway - but when I go through again as a rogue I'll make sure to scour for all 25.
Edit: I did search hard for everything though, the only thing I can think of is maybe before I got spirit form there was one or more spirit doors I missed, but I definitely went back for any massive doors and mouse holes that I had to pass previously.

The way I see it, the Dwarves are just trying to make themselves look more important by claiming to have encountered Dawk Spawn first. They're all just a bunch of lying backstabbing bastards anyway. (Ha, I'm anti-dwarf!) I firmly believe that the Tivinter Mages invading heaven is the reason things are so screwed up, because if I had that kinda power, making myself a god would definitely be at the top of my list. Oh really? I was going to head to Warden's Keep right after I finished with the Circle Tower because I wanted to get
Starfang, not to mention some other armor and I think I heard some free talent points?
I had heard some people say they found stuff out of Warden's Keep early they used for the rest of the game, though. I'm not too far in yet, but I'd be interested what people think about when to do the Keep. Is it best to do early and get all the goodies, or hold off till later in hope that everything will be even higher quality?
Also, on the respec potion, I read it could be risky to use if you have a specialization point you haven't spent yet. I was holding it out for Beserker, but maybe I'll just pick up Templar earlier than I was planning to avoid any problems.

You know you can get a storage chest for your camp off the social site, right?
You can upgrade armor by selling it to a vendor, saving, loading and buying it back. If the armor is dynamic, it'll upgrade to current standards. Costs gold though.
I don't think there are 25. I got all of them I think, because I backtracked everywhere in every form and got the one in Weisshaupt too. I never counted exactly how many of each but I don't think there were five of each, unless I missed a bunch and I don't think I did.
The really awesome staff and 2handed sword are available even if you do warden's keep early though. Outweighed the value of increasing the armor's tier for me.

I wonder if I can still romance Zevran.
I used it last night for Morrigan and it seemed to work fine. I respecced her out of shapeshift and into healing.
You know the Tevinter Imperium is still around, has its own version of the Chantry (that the rest of the world really doesn't approve of) that pseudo-glorifies mages, and even THEY seem to own up to causing the Blight right?

I believe there are some unique combat quips that come up if you kill a character with friendly fire. Maybe it was just my imagination, but I recall Morrigan shouting at (dead) Zevran for not getting out of the way.

There are some missing textures, a lot of clipping issues (especially with armor), and some other miscellaneous small insignificants that I'd never expect from BioWare

Fuck the Poles anyway.
Missing textures? I've got a lot of niggling complaints about Dragon Age, but I've never seen missing textures.

Most the ones I've seen are small, nothing big.

Absolutely! That's a good example of one of the things I really like about this game.
[Er, the characterization. Not

BG doesn't have any major bugs that aren't related to OS compatability. Kotor has a few graphics related bugs that I've seen.
Which is sad because it's very sexy looking.

It depends when you pick it up. I did Warden's Keep fairly late game in my first run through and it was Tier 6 Silverite armor, and its what my PC Rogue wore for the rest of the game. I did it before any of the treaties quests in my second run through thinking it'd be the same, and it ended up that it was Tier 3 Steel armor. I'm rather pissed now because I would have loved to have done it towards the end of the game so it'd be Tier 6 or 7 armor.

What!
What!
Aggghhh I wish I'd known this I've made it a point to do Warden's Keep right off the bat thus far arrgghhh
Going without the delicious delicious storage would be kind of a pain but eh.

Oh really? I was going to head to Warden's Keep right after I finished with the Circle Tower because I wanted to get
I had heard some people say they found stuff out of Warden's Keep early they used for the rest of the game, though.
I was holding it out for Beserker, but maybe I'll just pick up Templar earlier than I was planning to avoid any problems.
and without paying for it
Having the Warden Commander Armor at a higher material quality would be a huge boon on the other hand arrghh.
