This is either the best idea I've ever had, or the worst idea I've ever had.
I'm on a Man vs. Food kick lately, and guess where he went in episode 8 of season 1? Boston!
Restaurants he went to:
The Barking Crab
Highlights: A 4lb clam bake that includes a 2lb lobster, clams, corn, and potato, plus homemade clam chowder. Also a fisherman's basket, which is deep fried clams, muscles, scallops, and french fries. Huge portions. No lobster/crab crackers - there's a fucking ROCK at each table, plus a stack of paper plates to use as buffers.
East Coast Grill
Highlights: Cajun cooking. On the show Adam went to Hell's Night, where all the food was insanely spicy. If you wuss out you have to ask for the "antidote," and they'll bring you a creamsicle. However, they also chant "wimp, wimp, wimp" as they do it. Hell's Night frequently sells out.
Eagle's Deli
Highlights: Amazing sirloin burgers, plus traditional deli fare. Adam attempted to eat a 5lb burger (10 1/2lb patties) named the Eagle's Challenge, which topped out at 12 pounds after 2lbs of cheese and bacon, plus 5 pounds of fries. Burgers looked amazing.
Would anyone be interested in doing an eating contest, perhaps as part of Post-PAX festivities?

If this actually happens, and we choose The Barking Crab or Eagle's Deli, I will participate.

<Qs23> I just need to get my dicks in a row
<prox> i work for dicks
#paforums_pax, all about the dicks.
That's a 1 pound burger, 1 pound of fries. The challenge is 5 times that big.
tadaaaa!
I forgot about the phallic pickles.
This needs to happen.

As opposed to pickles that...aren't..phallic...
o_O
They were arranged like a boner.
Ouch! The pickles are split in two! Painful "boner" to say the least.

and while I believe they do have indoor seating, a majority of the place is either outside or under a canopy. I've only been in the summer so its possible its fine, but March on the water can be a little bit much for those not used to it. Its a nice place and very casual but just as a heads up

Ummm, forgive me if this is idiotic, but if the place is on the water, need we worry about those susceptible to seasickness?
Really want to try this, but won't know for sure if I'm up for it until I try the Fatburger Triple King Challenge and win - that'll be "practice."

No, it doesn't rock or anything. They also have a good amount of indoor seating and if you make reservations it won't be a big deal.
Get up here, I have a spare seat for Hell Night tonight

I take it he ate the Hell Pasta? I successfully ate it one year. Came back 2 years later when they started using the ghost chili and it's a whole other ballgame. The pasta definitely kicked me around that time but it was still so good.
Even if you can't eat insanely spicy the experience is awesome, lots of mid/low spicy stuff to eat.
As for me participating...can't. While I am a bigger guy, I really don't eat a lot and can't eat that quantity in one sitting haha. But I'll gladly cheer you guys on and support it.
The Eagle's Challenge was $55, but no one there was eating that fiasco this afternoon. I went with the $8 cowboy burger (1/2 pound burger, some sauce, bacon, onions, hold the cheese).
edit: My burger was ok (nothing special), the fries were good, and I was full for a good time afterwards.
Here are a couple pictures. Sorry they were all after thoughts so not the greatest photos.

Btw, I did not see the wall of shame. It looks like they might have gotten rid of it unless it's in the kitchen or a moveable board...

Eagle's deli great burgers.
And Hell night at East Coast grill is insane. Absolutely loved the flavor in the hell pasta, but not that frequently held as previously noted.
Haven't been to the barking crab even though I uses to live close to it.
When is this taking place? I didn't see it on the OP, just the list of potential "wheres".

Friday lunchtime seems ideal as I doubt the schedule will be as packed as, say, Saturday/Sunday.

I've seen this place on Man vs. Food and Phantom Gourmet (for non-locals, it's a local food show that basically advertises/rates local eateries).
I'd be down to go, and could get a body or two in my car if it's needed.
Also, you might try McGreevy's, which is actually a pretty good pub immediately across from the convention center that sells a $30 burger. here is the description.
