Sorry Kor xD So many people going in and out in that room it felt like we were in a orgy, I swear. They kept asking me to invite people and then when I do...boom their buddies come along, it was nuts lol.

On a side note...I am fucking MAD now. I had another battle with Morkai. I was mostly just screwing around with Ironheade and didn't expect to battle someone of his caliber at the time. I don't mind losing and last time I lost to him there was very little difference, but for crying out loud I feel like choking someone. I was in the early 100s and almost back on the two digits...then bam in the fucking 200s. o_O
I did a few matches and got back to the 100s though, but jesus christ it's probably going to take me a few days just to get back to where I was. D: Fuck the TrueSkill system, seriously. It keeps screwing me over and pitting me against noobs just for my rank to drop even when I win. I should seriously be up with Kor or even futher or something :?

    Also...Bouncers....are....the....worst....unit....hands down.

I just played him. There is now an infinite combo issue. I don't know why I didn't see it before. But the basic 1 2 3 4 combo can cancel the recovery from hit 4 by rolling forward. I couldn't jink out of it at any point. Very infuriating.

To be fair, he made units in the beginning. Headbangers no less! And tried to Deuce my Headwigs. His opening act is old school.

If there's a key component to blocking and dodging that I'm missing, let me know and I'll add it to the guide.

Maybe it's not an infinite combo. I think I just need to work on my timing in hit 4. If you have any close range combat advice, I'll add it to the guide.

I'm sorry I surrendered so soon, there was some family drama going on. We might lose the house and all. I'm seeing a counselor tomorrow, at my ROTC captain's suggestion.

I just beat a Baron Spammer in a Mirror Match. Each time they came anywhere near my Razor Girls he got a face full of Anvil.

I tried something new. I used Roadies, but actually Double Teamed with them. We destroyed a geyser REALLY fast, and then when he came, he couldn't see me so I jumped off and gave him the Anvil again :D

Haha, Yeah, The Roadie sneak is one of my favorite Techniques (I feel the roadie is the most underrated). Six of them can take down a stage in 10 to 12 seconds whilst buffed.

Oh. and A roadie can take down a merch booth in 15 blows, no buff. I just tried it with a double team.

Oh, as for the infinite combo loop, i've only learned it because it's been used on me so much in some form back in the day. but there is a way to get out of it.

There are four hits, In the standard combo (not rock kick) After the third hit, theres a slight delay, SLIGHT. That means after you see yourself block the third combo hit you tap 'A' like a mofo. it works for me about 65% of the time. there are some rock kick combo-ers though that are seriously unstoppable. I think it has something to do with Doviculous, because I haven't won against a consecucombo when an avatar was Doviculous

the A, A, A, A, roll forward, repeat combo is what crabbas has been doing since he basically picked up the game. DD can cancel the recovery of the fourth hit REALLY fast.

you can do this with tainted coil too, the difference is you need to roll to the side instead of forward, and you can keep the pressure on all day.

the thing is technically not an infinite, because after the fourth hit, the opponent can block no problem, even if you got his back, and you'll be forced to do something else or you'll never break his guard.

I had no Idea the opponent could counter attack after the fourth hit though(EDIT: I mean third hit, my bad). will test that out.

EDIT: what warrants the bouncers being called the worst unit hands down anyway? been meaning to test out some things with those guys.

See, after I land my 6th hit or so, I just fall back and use my lightning spam. Since lightning has a tiny dot to it, you can do about 12 points of damage before your guitar over heats.

I always love it when my opponent flies away about 50 yards or so, and just tries to watch the battle, and then I land underneath him to finish him off or keep his health from coming back up.

As I think about it, my hunger for virtual blood envelops. I am deadset on a warpath in matchmaking and all these noobs and douchebags are beginning to aggrivate me. I want to get back to where I was (if not further) from before I battled Morkai earlier and yet I keep coming across asshole after asshole. I battled a guy with a mediocre rank in the Dry Ice Quarry and he was Ironheade. The Tainted Coil is probably the only faction I can imagine bum rushing the stage of their opponent within the first three minutes, but this guy decided to send a swarm of headbangers to my stage. I slaughtered them all and boom, he leaves. Disconnecting from the game and further dropping my rank, aggrivating me immensely. Then theres this Drowning Doom called Surreal Fantasy, whom I battled in Bladewoode. We were pretty neck and neck actually. As he was busy trying to take my geysers, I decided to take the oppurtunity while I still could and send my army to his stage since he took the brides with him. I was actually suprised how my Heart Cutters just flat out butchered the Broods and I didn't even use the double team at all, but maybe it was the Matyrdom. It was like three heart cutters, two pain lifters, a superior warfather, a overblesser, and a superior skull raker against two ratguts, a organist, two frightwigs, and like eight or so broods. My guys were having trouble at start, but I launched a bleeding death to aid them and....he leaves. Here I thought this guy would actually have the balls to stay to the end and lose honorablly considering his pretty nice record (like two hundred wins and twenty loses) and yet he walks the same path as the others. I swear out of like the two dozen battles i've had today, Morkai was probably my only real challenge. (unless you include custom matches anyway)

Well, for one, They attack so slowly, they aren't very speedy, They're only good for double teaming on Barons when your opponent has them ONLY attacking the stage, otherwise that bouncer is dead. The only thing he could really hit are vehicles that Don't move when shooting, but last I checked, I don't see a lot of DD players using Ranged vehicle. OH, and the coil has heart cutters. completely would stop a bouncer in it's tracks.

So, I'd say they're the worst, just because they're too slow, and the delay from hit to hit is something like 3-4 seconds. it's terrible.

See? this is why I want a training mode. players should be able to test out how units deal against other units. the problem with the bouncers is that they are heavy infantry, so they are vulnerable to fire, and are DIRT slow. but I still want to collect more data on their performance and double team. you'd be surprised how well bouncers can take down something like a rock crusher.

a good anti vehicle alternative for inronheade would probably be the skull splitter. just how useful they are is something I'm not sure of, but their performance pleases me so far from what I have seen. 2 shots kill a fire baron, and these units have a lot of health and are immune to fire. also, good range on their double team.

does anyone recommend using level 2 head bangers later in matches? I honestly don't see ANY redeeming qualities when it comes to infantry vs vehicles, as vehicles tend to just fare better, with no disadvantage to infantry, while infantry has problems with fire and health. the number just don't make up for lack of overall strength. I don't see why anyone would summon level 2 head bangers later in game, they're basically cannon fodder at a certain point.

EDIT: baron spamming against another Edddie is hard to do, if your opponent knows whats good against barons (other barons, razor girls, skull splitters, and bouncers when they attack the master stage. at least from what I repelled) seeing as I always tier rush when facing another Ironheade, I got the skull splitters and barons ready.

    From Destructiod...
A second piece of Brutal Legend DLC is slated to hit PSN and Xbox LIVE soon -- as in December 17th, soon. Dubbed “Hammer of Infinite Fate,” the content adds several new Eddie Riggs outfits, a few item upgrades, and four fresh multiplayer maps. Awesome F'ing metal, right? Below is a list we've thrown together detailing the content.

The three new outfits for Eddie Riggs are as follows: Mountain Man, Black Metal, and Zaulia Threads. Seven more back patches and new paint for the Deuce are coming as well.

Those having trouble eying all the serpents should be pleased with the “Oculus of the Lost,” is one of the new items slated wrapped in this delightful downloadable package. The object apparently operates like a GPS, pointing out the locations of these numerous and sometimes well-hidden stone beasts. In addition of the Oculus, players will be able to get their hands on three fresh (and sharp) weapons: the Eye of Sorrow, The Disgorger, and the Coiling Maw.

And finally, the four new maps are: the Altar of Blood, Coiled Remains, Crucible of the Titans, and the Amplified Cliffs. All of which will supposedly pack an “in-game element of surprise,” according the official release.

Gaaahh. No fourth faction, the new things were just weapons. But four new maps has me exited, especially the Screaming Wall level. I wonder if it will have lava...

Also, the Serpents is the last thing I need to do in my Single Player, then I can fuck around in Chapters all I want. Now I can finally find them all. Good thing I have points left over from buying Gyromancer...

Overall I'd say it's a lot more bang for my funbuck.

I'm in the same boat as Houn. Being a PS3 edition owner, map packs hold very little interest for me. I'd much rather see single-player content.

On PSN you've been able to see the achievements for the new DLC for about 2 weeks. Some of them were fairly ambiguous as to whether they were single or mult player in nature.

I was really hoping that with a name like "Hammer of Infinite Fate" that perhaps a new chapter of the story was being released in which Eddie gets a big battle hammer with which to slay some demons. Guess I was a bit premature in my hope.

When Pandora Tomorrow came out, it's multiplayer was so praised, that the game came with LIVE trials, but you also had the opportunity to get a year subscription card, or an entertainment system.

Well the employees and I found out our rental copies also had the cards, so we sifted through them and took em all (The 1 Year cards). And boy were there a lot! We never did find the entertainment system.

I think I'll make a banner out of this.

Its not so bad, really. If you're just starting out, you might want to consider playing a few AI Battles to familiarize yourself with the maps.

Note: Big maps tend to favor Ironheade and their speedy Barons. Small maps tend to favor rush tactics and are much better for Tainted Coil players. Drowning Doom can do well on any map, but in my experience this faction takes the most practice to master.

Once you're comfortable with controlling your squads of guys and once you have a general knowledge of where the geyser nodes are on the maps, you should be ready to rock.

    The cliffs notes:

Ironheade -- Very straightforward. Nothing too fancy. Barons are a bit overpowered right now and Baron Rush is a very common tactic. As far as other units, its all pretty much brute force.

Tainted Coil -- Has a different build structure. You have 3 tiers of "builder units" which come from your stage. Once you have a builder unit, you double team with them to open a build wheel and create your other units from there. Tip: If your opponent casts Rock Block or other build-inhibiting songs, it does not prevent you from using your builder units. Those songs only block stage construction.

Drowning Doom -- Weakest units, but they have very strong debuffs. Early game you want to stack the slow effect of the Bride. Also they have very good geyser leech killing capability thanks to the double-team of the Gravediggers. Tip: If you get overwhelmed, you can use the double-team feature of the Frightwig or Organist unit to mind-control a powerful unit from your opponent, such as the Tier 4 Rockcrusher. Stealing a Rockcrusher is big fun.

No need to be sorry I enjoyed it, seeing how I can try to get better. At one point, right before all the roadies came to the stage, I was debating about just stopping making units and just watching then I didn't have to make the choice as it wouldn't of mattered anyway. I will always do random, but I need to do some practice matches with DD as my skill with that faction is lagging behind.

Also how about some tips about Avatar combat? It seems like if you just hold block the 4th hit still does damage or is that players mixing it up by holding A? Does blocking stop any damage from guitar attacks? Do I need to be locked on to something to block it? After feeling Morkai's buzzsaw I think I had more success dodging with a side roll then countering over just countering.

Hahahaha. Actually I have SteelyDanzig on my friend list and I battled him yesterday too. Sure it took some time trying to beat him with all the barons and roadies and what not, but after like 20 minutes I came out in the end. I think I actually forced him to use more variety because I think he used nearly every unit aside from just barons and roadies. I knew his tricks though and battled him like a dozen times before. I hope its free for the first week like the last one was on psn.

And new clothes and paintjobs is probably just enough for me to play through again on hard.

This is probably the most overlooked way to get fan tributes, but remember guys you can also get them from killing a certain amount of faction-based wandering units. 8-)

4 maps for $6 is a good deal. I'm definitely going to pick this one up. I still need to get the last map pack. They don't show up much in matchmaking though?

I'm playing this game on Brutal and just simply decimating anything I play against. I just got to the point of saving the Headbanging Youth in the mines and it's really not much of a challenge.

I'm hoping the game gets harder after these initial two hours, right?

I wouldn't get the first DLC pack -.-
All it gives you is two maps (although can lead to some epic battles) and a shiny axe for Ironheade.
It's like the same price as this, but in this DLC you get like a dozen more achievements...a tracker for serpents and what not....new axes....new paint jobs for the Duece....new outfits.....and four maps for multi...
It seriously puts Tears of Hextadon to shame. :?

Edit : Yes it does actually. In fact Stage Battles will be coming up soon MegaMan. It has some RTS elements though I must warn you. If it's still not harder then play it on Brutal.

Yeah, I'll probably skip that one until it goes on sale then.

I like RTS and the squad commands so far remind me of 'Freedom Fighters' - which is a good thing.

I like the game a lot so far. The actual combat is a little weak (just because everything dies so quickly seemingly no matter what kind of attacks I use), but this strikes me as a game you play more for the atmosphere than anything.

I've laughed out loud more in the first two hours of the game than I think I have in the last four or five games I've played.

When Eddie tells the Headbangers to 'go completely nutshit' on whatever he points at, that was great.

Remember your only at the beginning of the game. Of course the units are weak now, but later on it becomes tougher. Go ahead and check the hp chart at the beginning of this thread.

Yeah, later in the game you realize that Eddie can't die during battles, so you just start to do solos, die, return to the fray, at the meager cost to your fan tributes.

Later in the game you will deal with units you simply can't axe to death. And you're not meant to. You'll need to attack vehicles with vehicles and so forth.

Discrete Mathematics test complete. Going to eat for for the first time in seven hours and play, or pass the fuck out.

'Ambush' missions will teach you how to utilize your solos and your double teams to their fullest, by forcing you into a overwhelming battle where the odds are stacked against you. It will give you a small amount of troops as you face a army much larger than your own. Try going around the world to find solos, because you seriously will need them both in those kind of missions and the storyline stage battles. Remember to use Battle Cry frequently and whenever you can, as you probably already have learned from the mines.
