So I took like a three week break from Brutal Legend to try out other games...
I am irritated though that my record was wiped. Diablo 2 doesn't even kill your stuff until three months of inactivity.
    Well anyway...
I am even more pissed that i'm still getting disconnecters and quitters in nearly every battle.
Here I thought it was my record that frightened them, but now I don't even have one and people are still bailing on me.
Out of the seventeen games i've had so far since my return, only six didn't disconnect.
Most of which did quit near the end or midway though.
I don't care about the leaderboard much anymore, but yet I fail to have a decent match so far....aside from the one I had with Crabbas a little earlier.
I'm a little rusty apparently and he nailed me with a early going tier one spam with TC.....even though I had all of the extra geysers....and even a couple ratguts....
I love Brutal Legend, but man...the community for the multiplayer is downright fucking terrible....
Hence why I took a break in the first place.

I'd say its been very hit and miss for me. I don't play as often as I do because I have school and military stuff now. It's not as bad during "primetime"

A combination of those 4 on 4's, with some BRUTAL matches with a pro who did not DC yet had only a handful of matches, I'm fucking wired at 0130 in the morning...

oh man i just started playing online today with this free 2 day xbl trial thing sent out in emails and i ended up getting paired up with this guy with about a 29 trueskill and about 290 wins

it was on bleeding coast i was ironheade and the other guy was drowning doom.

i underestimated the lag on brutal legend, because i got fuckin' "infinite combo'd" alot and fell for it everytime with no way to escape, it was horrid.

i eventually take that fan geyser after a bit and start to charge his stage.

when im there, i see he gets a reaper out, which meant he was already at tier 3 when i was still at tier 1, major wtf.

but because im getting more fans, i could afford to keep sending troops over at his stage, even when he was stage light blasting them

eventually i take his default geysers and then he disconnects on me!

i guess he didn't like being beaten by a guy who only had 8 wins

    it was classic!

SO AWESOME. More fun than I thought I would be. Teamwork is fun.

    4 on 4 = EPIC!

Massive kudos to anyone from the UK playing as well (myself included) as at 4am, the brain doesn't function so good.

I think what made it rather awesome is that, unlike last time (where we dicked around trying to get times to suit everyone, and never got games because of that) we just got on the xbox and played from the fucking heart! (Bill Hicks would've been proud.)

The two dry ice quarry matches were awesome. As was the 3 vs 3 on dooms mire. Fun times.

Something that's also noteworthy is Ironheade. They get much stronger the more avatars that are in play, and their snare solo is an easy 50 fans.

It's odd really, in a 4v4 scenario the TC get much weaker due to the complications caused by having to protect your nuns whereas the other teams have no such liability required to get units.

Oh, and i suppose having someone on your team building 5 nuns instead of 2 can kind of cause problems as well.

Yeah, a team of IH/DD avatars can get aggressive on TC early, and good teamwork (focus firing on the nuns) can really hurt the coil early.

All I can think of is to play passively and threaten with chains constantly. If you complete chains, it can cause a problem where you chain 2/3 people and instead of focus firing, you all take 1 each. Since the snare only lasts 5 or 6 seconds, you have to make it count and make sure the 50 fans don't fly away.

I got caught with chains lots in those games.

And yeah, having a dude spawn lots of battle nuns = not good. Especially when they get split up.

In that case, do as I've done and say to hell with matchmaking altogether.

Then join us in our epic battles which will become a regular occurrence.

In other news, I've only now just seen the massive (renewed) interest on the BL forums. I get the feeling this'll be happening more often than once a week.

Well, at least I'm really hoping it happens a lot more often too, my friends. Those were some epic matches right there :p Except the one in the gardens... I'm pretty sure that rosario fella or whatever her name was totally screwed us over by trying to build like 15 battle nuns when we were trying to get our shit together. That... certainly didn't help out too good. Other than that, the other matches were amazing. Sign me up for whenever you guys are playing :p

Still working on those drawings, heh :p

Next game shouldn't be too far away.

I noticed also, that while people moan about heartcutters in 1 vs 1s and how they need a nerf, if an avatar takes a side each on 4 vs 4s, they'll be taken down quite quickly with minimal avatar damage (maybe 1 death). Although I only learned that after we all stupidly lined up on one side to melee one down and gave you guys a very easy 150 fans!

High-Level Heade in 1 vs 1s are terrible, but in 4 vs 4s or 3 vs 3s they're exceptionally good. It's quite strange how a few avatars completely change the balance of the armies. The Coil get worse with more avatars, Heade get better and the Doom doesn't really get any better or worse.

And yeah, the one in the gardens sucked...I enjoyed the first ice mines fight. Our team was almost pushed right back to the stage, then luckily we turned it around.

Next one, I think, we'll have a bit earlier than 11pm EST. I imagine I'd be unable to sit up until 4am (aka stupid o'clock) much before some-one else in the house starts yelling

For the Benefit of anyone from the EA forum who checks this out...

From the 4vs4 thread in the EA forums...Rules as they should be below...

-The team that is hosting will select the map, the team that joins can't complain about map selection or quit. - Or not! Maps will be picked at random, unless a large majority agree on the next map.

-The leader of each faction will be claimed by whoever asks first. - Ummm, no! The leader of each faction will be claimed by whoevers elected to lead by team-mates at the time.

-Each person can choose what team they will be on. If the team you want to join is full, tough luck. Choose another or don't play. Teams will be picked, again, on basis of majority. Oh, and pick whoever you want whenever you want. Play as all 3 teams in a session if you want. No need to pigeonhole yourselves.

-My friends (If they decide too join) will take vip slots. IE if you are on a team that they want to be on, and it's full, you might be booted. NO! No No No!! 4 vs 4s will take place on the basis of first on, first in. I don't give a damn how good a friend you are to me, or how good a friend you are to anyone else who organises one of these. If you're not in and the game's full, tough. Either wait until some-one drops out and take their place, or play another time. Kicking people "because your friends want to play" is a dick move, and it won't be done. End of.

-After a full 12 hours you will be unable too be booted. Nobody gets booted, unless you're being annoying down the mic to the point where it's stopping everyone else enjoying the game.

-Each game night will be planned ahead of time, anywhere between a day and a week. Ok, this might apply, but then again a game was organised in under 8 hours recently. Case by case basis for this one.

-If a faction lead quits runner up will be selected. No "leaders" here. Its up to you guys who leads (or take turns, nobody minds)

-The games will all happen at 7-8 pm central. The games will all happen when there's 8 people on playing BL. Or if a time/date has been set in advance.

    And....Done.

Oh man so tired/hungover today but those matches last night were quality!

I'd tried a few 2 v 2 with my bro but we were having a hard time, difficult to find a match, people were Tier 1 rushing or DC-ing when we got ahead, but then you guys started the 4 v 4 rounds and good times were had!

The matches in the Dry Ice Mines really were fantastic, this game rawks when people don't quit!

Also awesome to see Ironheade were actually pretty decent!

you have to let them target something else first. One of your units, a merch booth, or your stage.

Spamming ranged units is very Anti-Avatar. The response is melee units. Other than that you can distract their targeting with your car, or diving in the middle and blocking while your units move in, or the opposite, diving in the middle when they're fighting your guys can casting your Nuke Solo.

Ranged units fire slowly, and flinch a lot when they are being attack by melee units, so they tend to get slapped around. In contrast, if a lone enemy comes near them from a distance, they all look and fire together for a quick kill.

Question: Lets say you have zero interest in actually playing the game, but you enjoy the soundtrack. Is there a way to play the songs off the game without unlocking them all and just sitting in the car playing the music while you clean your apartment irl?

Disclaimer: Don't tell me to download the soundtrack off itunes or alt sources of the same songs, can it be done with the game?
Jump in the car and hit either up or down on the dpad to bring up a list of all songs you've unlocked, from there you can play any one of them at your leisure.

Do you see the problem with your argument?

To Caveman: No, there is no way to play songs that haven't been unlocked, at least no easy way (multiplayer is inefficient).

Unfortunately, the majority of the songs are unlocked by progressing, rather than unearthing them. If you lean towards more traditional heavy metal, it should be unlocked pretty early on before the drowning doom/tainted coil segments of the game.

If you are really desperate, there are playlists of the whole soundtrack on youtube. Slap it on, and it autoprogresses through them.

You should just honestly play through the game though, it's worth it. You would have to be born without a soul to not enjoy it.

Besides being born without a soul I was born without the gene that lets me tolerate sass. Consider yourself on notice!

In other news: Thanks for the answer I knew in my mind but rejected in my heart.

Adittional news: I am in the market for a soul. Brand new prefered but will consider second hand for the right price.

Random question: I know i should know the answer to this already but Ive never really thought of, or payed attention to this until now, When you are building units with a hierarchy unit, and it gets destroyed before it completes its production, do you get the fans back for the units you were building or are they lost for good? i havent really lost many hierarchy units in mid production and when i did i was too busy fighting off the avatars to check my fan counts.
