Me and my fiancee are getting married next June. I've always been a huge gamer and recently convinced her that our entrance music for our reception should be old school NES music. I like something slow and dramatic like the intro to the Legend of Zelda or Ninja Gaiden 2. She wants something more upbeat like the overworld music for SMB2.
Emotionally what do you want the wedding to convey? The end of an adventure, or the beginning of one? Is the ceremony itself the "good end" or the intro to a boss fight?
Where your answers and her answers differ, you should probably go with music that fits her answers.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Ill show these to her and see what she thinks.
For game music, try to limit it to the NES era music too please.
Keep er comin
Just so you know, the song I picked was an SNES remixed version of an NES song. I actually like the NES version better (nostalgia!) but I can't find a YouTube of it.

Josh, you took my favorite! I was going to suggest that!
My wife and I entered the reception hall to the Zelda 1 overworld theme. My parents entered to the Pink Panther song, and my wife's parents entered to the Imperial March from Star Wars.
My friend from Atlanta knew a band in college called The Contra Band. They played exclusively songs from Contra for NES whilst people played the game on a big screen.
Okay, if this whole NES thing completely falls apart, this is your Plan B.
If you need to hear that a little more clearly, it's sounds like it's used on the Japanese FFXII: Revenant Wings site. (Click "Enter the site" for a truly triumphant version.)
I am also a big fan of that Final Fantasy video. I love old video game music played by orchestras. I went to a concert in Sydney that was dedicated to it. Got to meet Uematsu(sp?) and got him to sign my Final Fantasy Orchestra cd I bought.

Both of those are pretty upbeat, one even from a Mario game.

After hearing the Megaman 2 theme I wanted to find the 3 theme. But you did it for me!
Here's a remix by Mustin complete with awesome piano intro:

There you go. An intro that's a bit dramatic as you want, with an upbeat finish as she wants.

Actually that would be kinda awkward (but then again I guess a lot of these would be so um GOOD LUCK).
Or turn your wedding into a pizza party! http://www.last.fm/music/virt/_/shell+shock+%28tmnt+3%29

I used to play through that game, then just let the ending theme loop through those little blue and red (pink?) headphones for so long.
I think it would probably work well for a reception intro.
I'm generally not into these OC remixes, but this Marble Madness one is goddamned great.

Energy Zone is probably the best Contra music.
Super C stage one
kid icarus title
kid icarus stage 1
but this one is probably my favorite NES song ever:

and I guess Street Fighter 2010 can't hurt if something a little more blatantly metal isn't out of the question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWR0McNfl0E&feature=PlayList&p=520C6D871A2A141A&index=0
your best bet though is probably something with Mega Man. 2 or 3, as has been stated, is just a treasure trove.

DAMMIT!!! My favorite version of this song since was 4 and then when they brought it back for 12, I got goosebumps and damn near cried tears of joy.
I just teared up a little hearing it.
