Final Fantasy X-2 is a crime against humanity. It is an abomination. If I had the ability to travel through time I would use it to go back and kill all the people responsible for its inception. The makers should be found guilty of war crimes.

Thank goodness FFXIII's battle system has elements of X-2 in it.

Once I get a working PS2 back and finish replaying Persona 4, I think I might slot X-2 in for a replay. I remember almost nothing about the game, which is kind of unusual for a game that I liked as much as I think I did.
I'm looking forward to the FFXII game summary, because that was the problem child game for Square.
Took fucking forever to make, the practically switched the entire development team halfway through, it cost $TEXAS and made mediocre bank for a FF title, and it turned that one dude fucking crazy.
If I say tangible things that I dislike about the game you'll all gang up on me and discredit me.
I took an immediate dislike to the j-pop intro. I thought the whole concept was ridiculous. It also seemed too similar to FFT Advance with its questing system, and that turned me off as well.
Fuck the haters, I enjoyed X-2, against all expectations. Sure, the story was...weird, as were the minigames, but the actual battle system was top-notch. They need to copy it and put it into something more GRIMDARK for people who shriek and howl whenever X-2 is mentioned.
I have this urge to play it and XII again.
And maybe give X a fair shake this time around, too.
I loved the dress spheres, but I was at the end of the game and was missing like half of them. I need to replay it and actually try to learn the system this time.
X-2. The most fun of all the Final Fantasy games. Not the best, mind you. It is by no means a complete package. But the Dress system... MY GOD the Dress system. So good.
It is the one FF game that I actually completed 100% of. I did done everything. No other Final Fantasy was so much fun to play that I felt compelled to do everything. Well, I did almost everything in VI, but I didn't see all the arena fights. Having said that, I think the game was better off without the ending that you receive for 100% story completion. It has this very fanfic feel to it. Its how some 14-16 year old fangirl would have ended it. Yuna gets her love back and the world is covered in rainbows. The normal ending, on the other hand, is bittersweet and in my personal opinion gives extra depth to Yuna, strengthening her as a character.
I will play X-2 someday just to experience the Battle System since it's so highly praised. The only time I had a chance to was in a demo, and by the time I -made- it to the battle, I was so annoyed that I just quit. I don't know what put me off anymore, as I really don't remember -anything-, but I remember that it just wasn't a good attempt at trying to show off the game. I'd say -that's- why I skipped X-2 altogether, not the whole dress sphere business.
You know. Switching your characters dress sphere. I swear, may as well have called it Barbie Fantasy X-2: For Chicks and Gays.
So you hate an on-the-fly Job System? by the way, nice gay stereotyping there, broski.
Hey, dude. Maybe when they man these games up a bit, me and my bros will enjoy playing them. I mean, dude...you play as chicks for the majority of the game, and they spend most of it doing Sailor Moon shit, the hell? So until then I'll just stick to kicking the asses of lames who like this stuff.
I think my biggest problem with X-2 is that I cannot get the song "Girls just wanna have fun" out of my head while I'm exposed to this game. Thinking about it or playing it implies the song. They are symbiotically linked or something.

I know, right? No Final Fantasy ever had it so that when you switch jobs your costume changes. Never.
I haven't played X-2 since the year it was released, but I seem to remember that you changed your job by changing your clothes, as opposed to cosmetic changes occurring as a result of changing your job. To me there is a distinction, and I didn't care for the overall mechanism.

If Cyndi Lauper had been on a cross country murder spree in the video, it would have been the greatest video of all time.
For me the big problem with X-2 was what felt like the raping of the entire world of Spira.
I mean... it's like if they made a sequel to Pan's Labyrinth where they've turned Captain Vidal's estate into a carnival. With Mercedes as a J-Pop singer on center stage in a fruity costume screaming GIRL POWER!

Well. I'll have to disagree. This was Spira after Sin. People no longer had all the doom and gloom of knowing their world might end at any time hanging over their backs. May as well start enjoying themselves.

That would make Pan's Labyrinth infinitely more enjoyable than it was.

X-2 is a fun game, but the story is pretty silly. Not bad, just nothing special. It's worth owning.
Except you see nothing but the ruined populace and sorrowful people trying to cope with the fact that their religion has been destroyed, and then you have the conflict between New Yevon and... uh, what was it, the Youth League?
They didn't rape Spira with FFX-2, they enhanced the nuances of its people. It's the Feast for Crows of Final Fantasy -- the fallout after the climax of FFX, like FfC was to A Storm of Swords in A Song of Ice and Fire.

Playing as female characters isn't really an issue. Playing as Summoner-turned-Japanese Pop Star isn't really interesting to me. I don't care for J-Pop. I don't think that automatically places me in the beer-swilling, high fiving frat boy set.

No, not really.

Story was fun as well.
I think it gets a bad rap because it's an all female cast.

Seriously. I have no other explanation for people that hate X-2.

Enlighten us in less colorful terms.
I didn't much care for X's story, so a direct follow-up to it is just all around meh for me.
I have this urge to play it and XII again.

Really, I did
The battle system was a new and interesting take on ATB and being able to switch jobs mid-fight was a rad idea
But the story
My God, the story
I got to the hot springs scene on Mt. Gagazet and simply could not take it anymore

People that hate the story didn't get to the big plot twist where they use Plan B.
What's Plan B?
You know. Switching your characters dress sphere. I swear, may as well have called it Barbie Fantasy X-2: For Chicks and Gays.
But what about my last setpiece of the IK set
I know, right? No Final Fantasy ever had it so that when you switch jobs your costume changes.
Never.
Even the mighty Triple Triad weeps in front of its brilliance.

I'm confused who this is directed at.
I said I didn't like playing dress-up. What this has to do with gay people I'm not really sure.
I quoted Dragkonias, dude.

And the music is good. (Yes even the vocal ones.)
I wasn't a big fan of FFX, so no harm done there.
