    Isn't that, like, insider trading?

Anyway, you three or four rabid Williams Pinball fans, did you see this sequel announcement?

I always meant to get that game at some point.

At first I read "Robin Williams Pinball". I'd so play that.

    The PS2 outsold it.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idUSTRE5AB3IY20091112?feedType=RSS&feedName=technologyNews
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Customers who visit GameStop Corp stores will soon be able to purchase digital upgrades to their favorite video games, as the retailer eyes a shift toward digital distribution of games.

The new program, which GameStop will start testing early next year, will work in conjunction with online services offered by leading console makers, such as Microsoft Corp's Xbox Live and Sony Corp's PlayStation Network.

Under the program, a GameStop shopper who learns about a new level available for, say, a war or sports game could immediately purchase that upgrade. When the shopper arrives home, the add-on will be available to download and play.

"A large market for full game downloads is not imminent, (but) the add-on downloadable market will grow," GameStop Chief Operating Officer Paul Raines said at the BMO Capital Management Digital Entertainment conference.

These additional payments may be a key driver of revenue for publishers and retailers in the video-game industry, which has seen slow overall growth amid the tough economy. The idea is that consumers are more likely to pay to enhance beloved games than they are to experiment with unknown new games.

    No

Insider trading would be if like he bought a whole shitload of shares of ActiBlizz right when MW2 was starting development (i.e. only someone in the company itself would know that), and hadn't been announced to the public yet, then on announcement day sold for $$$

Here the game's drop was announced far in advance and it would be reasonable to assume Activision-Blizzard's stock price would correspondingly rise as a result of its assumed extremely large amount of sales. No insider knowledge necessary, just the funds to be able to buy a shitload of ActiBlizz stock

I'm also surprised at how low the Forza numbers are.

I figured that A Boy and His Blob would sell like crap, but it's appearantly even worse than that. It's too bad, any game with a hug button should sell much better than that.

Where'd you see that? I saw someone say that it got around 75k in the October NPD (with the Black model getting about twice as many sales as the white). That sounds about right given Amazon sales (so about 40% PSP Go, 60% older PSP models). Based on NPD data & Sony's +300% PSP consoles launch week statement, I'm guessing it sold about 50k in September NPD for a total of about 125k. So maybe 300k total in the US by the end of the year (I daresay Black Friday will boost sales a lot). That's not great, but it's apparently enough to convince a lot of developer to put their catalog on the PSN which is all I really care about.

And did anyone mention that Demon's Souls got over 100k? That's insane and I'm sure Atlus is ecstatic.

EDIT: And on a completely unrelated note, I just got an email from RPGFan saying that I was one of their winners in their "Get a free copy of Nostalgia for the DS" contest. Woohoo! That makes this the second RPG I've won from an online contest (the first was Disgaea PSP).

It did sell 2.7 million ish, but after bundles and it took quite some time to get there.

1 mil for UC2 is quite good, considering that's first month sales.

While skimming the thread last night I think I saw something that said PSP - Go = 100,000.

That would put it at around 75,000. Either way though, horrible sales for a system that was out all month.

Mario Galaxy 2 is coming out in quarter 1? That would be pretty awesome.

Accuracy of lists of games aside, pushing finished games back to stay out of the holiday quarter is making some publisher look pretty bad. All those releases at a time when history says not nearly as much money is spent on the video game market. I would hate to be releasing a new IP against that stuff.

Well if you're looking forward to Assassin's Creed 2, you'll only have to wait until Wednesday because that's when it's on store shelves.

The only data we have on Last Guardian is a vague statement by Ueda that it "will be a 2010 game."

And Mario Galaxy 2 has only a TBA 2010 according to a Nintendo financial

Not really. The best thing is to use a list for a general idea of release dates and then if you want to make sure of a date you have to gather the info from several sources and decide which is most credible.
