You get imprisoned? when? I never got imprisoned! Is this part of the main storyline? How the hell do they capture you? I mean...unless you had no mages in the party.
If you lose the fight breaking the Queen out of Howe's estate.
Or go with them peacefully.
Fuck that shit. The amount of fire I rained on them was nothing short of biblical.
I was playing a mage. I know this only because I saved before the fight and tested the different responses out. The actual choice was easier. A mage bowing to a knight. Fat chance.
You get imprisoned? when? I never got imprisoned! Is this part of the main storyline? How the hell do they capture you? I mean...unless you had no mages in the party.
It's worth being imprisoned though. I just surrendered right there.
Then I had Morrigan and Wynne break me out. It was the most hilarious thing I ever saw.

I guess one of the faults of this game is that compared to the BG series, BG had far better party members.
Outside a very few exceptions I don't think there's a single BG party member I thought didn't have some well-developed contribution to the party in a meaningful way. There's a few good ones here in DA (Morrigan even if she is a bitch, Shale, Wynne) but some of them just fall flat.
Although, this game is missing Boo so I suppose it's already starting off kind of with a disadvantage.

Honestly boo got old after about ten minutes in the first game. Funny, but severely overdone.
The only dragon age party member I really don't like is Sten. He annoys me so much, but I'll still at least pick him up next time so that I can get the achievement. The rest of the characters seem well thought out, even if some are a little annoying from time to time.
I do wish they interacted with the story a little bit more, though. The interplay between party members is great, but in terms of the plot of the game they're mostly silent, other than alistair.

When the going gets tough, someone hold my rodent!
So what's the verdict on weapon choices for Rogues? Should I go for a primarily dexterity/cunning focused dual dagger rogue or should I simply pump strength, focus on weilding two logswords and play him as a squishier fighter?
The only time I liked Sten was his growling match with my dog Mauser.
Really, every NPC's interactions with the dog are pretty hilarious.
The party conversation where Morrigan hits on Sten to try and get a reaction out of him is downright hilarious.
My favorite party conversations so far are zevran hitting on morrigan, and morrigan and leliana arguing intelligent design.
Leliana hitting on Morrigan is pretty funny. Wynne trying to talk the dog into some cosmetic changes (via magic) is kind of funny. Oghren telling Wynne how much he'd like to take her to his tent and show her his "stone mount'in" was hilarious.
huh, I never got leliana hitting on morrigan. At least, I don't think so. I need to stop leaving the game unpaused while I get up to do something.
how does shale do as a tank compared to a shield warrior? I feel like I remember someone in the thread saying he got squishy toward the end of the game.

Momentum, daggers + supporting talents, cunning as your primary, just enough dex and str to wear your gear and get your talents. Put some points in willpower and con once you got your cunning nice and high (40+).
You want someone to lock the target down with a status effect, then you pop momentum and engage. Nothing deals as much single target dps provided you have a status effect in place to assure auto-crits.

So upon reading Shale's entry, apparently I missed out entirely on Orzammar experience by not having him around. Grrr.

You're nearly right, except if you're not a baby you can spare a few extra points from con into str to DW awesome longswords, and momentum should be up 100% of the time.

I found a codex entry that talks about hiding some stuff in "the spot." And something about moving a bed to get to it. Where is it?
I don't think anyone ever answered this. Very early Mage Tower stuff:
Go back through the dorm rooms and check all the beds. Once you've read the note, one of the bunks will be interactable and you'll get a few items.
Also encountered some goofy bugs over the weekend. During a dramatic cutscene, one character stepped forward to make their case, only to have their line not fire. During a chat with Alistair, the wrong response was triggered (he said something he'd already said earlier in the conversation). And after dealing with the problem in Castle Redcliffe:
The Codex entry for Connor says that the situation was resolved, but at the cost of his mother's life. Thing is, I got the Circle of Mages to help me and Isolde is alive. Stupid revisionist Codex!

This happened to me during the ending.
Aside from Alistair thinking he was king the whole time (which he wasn't, dammit; I picked Queen Cunt), I wasted those two generals so I would have an easier time during the final fight. As soon as I get to Fort Drakon after the gate fight, I flip through the Codex to discover that, according to it, I let the Alienage die in a fire and that the general "might show up later." I re-loaded, because fuck that noise, and it happened again. But the general never showed up, thank god.
I've been loving this game. Found my first dragon,
Flemeth
, and it just kicks my tookus. I was doing ok, then when it picks me up and shakes me around, well, that's all she wrote. Even if I live through it once, the dragon just does it again and poof. Any tips? Right now I'm basically just going to wait and go back in a level or 2.
Also, fuck EA's online system. I cannot login to the Dragon Age servers at all, I just get "Please Try Again." Been like a week now with that bullshit. Fuck it.

Spam heal your guy, cast the immunity barrier on the guy, or freeze the dragon mid-animation. All of these will save from chomp. The first one is the most mana-intensive mind you.

You really need to heal your tank during it. It'll easily do enough damage to kill you otherwise, at least on the harder difficulties. That's like the one time in the game when lifeward is really handy.
I suppose you could try eating rock salves the entire fight, but I'm not sure how much damage they actually absorb.

I do heal him. I can get through one this way, but I just don't have enough health to do it a second time. And the dragon will usually pick me right back up and have another try at it.

Re: the specific dragon in question:
She managed to be both an incredibly annoying and incredibly easy boss at the same time.
Her main attacks were completely focused on my healer, spamming flame spit over and over and over and over again. So I was forced to just spam heal my healer.
However, after every flame spit she would then do her AoE melee knockback which knocked all three of my melee away from her. This meant that it took forever to kill her, as my melee always had to run back in even if they weren't in very much danger of dying.

I think that's actually all one attack. The animation has a bit where the dragon throws the person in the air I think, and it sort of looks like it puts them down and does it again.
Anyway, the only answer is to heal your tank, or force field it I guess. You could try going for a petrify of some kind when you see it start, but that's pretty unreliable.

Petrify's unreliable. CoC should work almost all the time.
I'm pretty sure the game considers cone of cold a petrify effect. But anyway, dragon's resistances are so high that I don't think it's really all that feasible to rely on any spell sticking to it consistently. Even with vulnerability on them they resist stuff constantly.

That's an entirely different build. Longswords only get damage from str. Daggers with lethality get damage from dex and cunning. Since cunning synergizes with...well...everything else a rogue does you do better as an overall character by going daggers + lethality + high cunning. You also get the benefit of higher armor penetration and crit. I'd have to dig out the thread from the official forums, but someone ran the numbers and daggers end up being more dps than longswords simply due to stat dependancies.

CoC is hardly ever resisted from my expereince. I mean, I chain cast it during the final battle of the game and it was never, ever resisted (mileage my vary on higher than Normal difficulty).
Petrify, by contrast, seems to act as a normal, sane spell and is likely to be resisted on bosses.

Absolute gold.

A steel one preferably, they take Sten longer to bite through.
