So, i was wondering about the skills like traps, tactics, and combat, etc.

For my melee guys who focus on strength, I maxed out combat stuff. I could go for tactics, but I am a pause machine and it is worthless. I could do survival, but I am not sure what attribute governs it. Are any of the other skills like trap-making or herbalism good for these guys? I would imagine most rely on willpower, dexterity, or something.

No honestly, how DO you get Sten to open up more to you?

I gave him some gifts and he still didn't want to talk. All he talks with me about is the damn question he came here to answer.

I'm not entirely sure, I think he responds well to flattery. For example when you ask what he was doing in the cage and he answers "sitting, as you observed" if you answer "very funny" you get a big influence boost. Its weird.

Give Sten a bunch of gifts and eventually you can tease out of him the backstory on why he murdered those people and what he wants to do about it. It's very Green Mile, plus his quest yields tangible rewards and a unique encounter.

He likes paintings. I don't know why. Each one you give him gives you (10 - x) approval, where x is the number of gifts you've given him. Give him enough and he'll open up, then you can do his companion quest.
This involves traveling around to try and find his sword. He can't go back home without it, or he'd be killed immediately on sight.

Sten doesn't like it when you do anything else other than moving towards fighting the Archdemon.

    Mage Circle tower bug?
After I defeated the boss, I was immediately returned to the tower's entrance. I went all the way back up the tower because I figured the boss might've dropped some loot. Imagine my suprise as I enter the final room and see the boss alive and well, charging at me. Unfortunately I failed to defeat him this time for some reason, even though he had no minions.

By the way, how was I supposed to used that scroll to prevent him from controlling the mages during the fight? I couldn't figure it out.

Scroll is under your advanced tactics menu, at least thats where it was on the 360.

In my game on the 360, the scroll automatically replaced one of my hot button items.
As for the whole end-of-the-encounter thing, that is a bit wacky. When I finished that fight, I had the opportunity to look around the room before returning to the entrace.

I left a couple of thing of things unfinished in the Mage's Tower (never checked out the basement, and I want to try Level Four summoning); it's possible to go back inside the Tower proper after the quest is over, right?

Also, I found a gift called 'Steel Bracers'. They are apparently adorned with etchings of Mabari Warhounds. Who would enjoy receiving them?

Oh, one other thing I noticed about the scroll:
Even if you're too late to prevent the mage from turning, using the scroll seems to seriously weaken the abominations; I was able to one-shot them as a S/S warrior after using the Litany on them.

Well, I think I'm starting out (9 hours in) and loving it so far. Just a few questions:

    - Is it true that Heavy Armor draws more agro? What should my DPS Warriors and Rogues use? Leather only?
    - Also, how should I distribute my stats for my tank? I know I need Strength, Dex, Constitution and Willpower but is there any value I should target each of them?
    - And finally, a bit plot related...
I decided to spare the Isolde's life and try to head for the Circle of Magi for some Lyrium. Will this bite me in the ass? Or should I've just let her sacrifice her life?

Is there a tactical pause in the XBOX 360 version like on the PC? I am not referring to the "Map View" of the game, I am fine with the over the shoulder view of the game, but is there a way to pause the game, assign actions to all of my group and then start the game?

I tried turning the radial menu to a toggle which is helpful, but it still starts the game up immediately when I select the action for the one character. How do I stop the game, assign actions to all 4 characters before the game starts up again?

With 3 mages with death hex and death cloud you can 2-3 shot most bosses in the game in around 6-7 seconds.

Largest hit so far is about 1300.

From what I read, no. It is one of the reasons why the tactics options are so thorough, so that a no pausing or console player can be effective.

Anyone know what is a good skill (trap making, survival, etc) for my strength based melee fighters? They maxed out combat.

Generally 2 STR, 1 CON. DEX when you need it for shield talent requirements. WIL when you get to the teens and only if you really need it; previous levels benefit more from the other attributes for talent requirements.

360 users really can't pause? Wow, I feel so sorry for these players.

And I think for melee fighters it's possible with those stamina draining one-hit talents that add your stamina damage to attack. Haven't tried it though. And maybe a debuff from a mage.

I would imagine so for a 2-hander wielder. Stack all your buffs up, nix the targets armour, wind up something like final blow

Coercion if you like dialog options and it's you; trap making is pretty nice if you have a stealthed rogue with you who can lay a billion traps at the spawn point of a boss, but they should have it anyway. Just one point in survival lets you see most mobs before they see you, allowing you to AoE through walls more effectively if you so desire and have a mage. You can do tactics if you really want, I guess, but it's pretty unncessary on the fighters and if you're a compulsive pauser micomanager (like I am).

I'd probably end up using tactics more if they were better for mages.

But I really don't enjoy the AI freezing the rest of my party solid whenever there's 2 or more enemies in view.

Also, I cannot believe there is not an AI option for "Attack seen enemies in range, but don't stray far from the controlled PC". There is however a:

"Don't attack until controlled party member specifically targets an enemy." (which means that, since I open with cone spells, the rest of my party doesn't attack until half a minute later); or
"Attack seen enemies who are through the wall over there and chase them through the million other enemies."

    These do not help me.
