UPDATE 15/12/09: The 3rd pod has landed, the 4th pod will be landing in the next couple of days at a LEGO store in Chicago. See the main site and the unfiction.com thread for more details. The Rundown: LEGO has launched a viral marketing promotion thingy
here to promote the upcoming MMO, Lego Universe. The website and video explain most of it, but what it boils down to is this: A set of four latitude-longitude coordinates are released on the website periodically. The four coordinates form a rectangle. Each new rectangle is smaller than the last, until finally you get the exact location of one of these dealies:
A LEGO pod with a minifigure inside it! And a code which you can enter on the site and some stuff happens, but who cares about that, FREE LEGO! And all you have to do is constantly follow this site for when the next coordinates go up and then drop everything and race across town against a bunch of other people to get it.
Mysteries Solved- The code for the
data-plate from the first pod was broken very quickly. It seems to depict the solar system from which they originated, and gives the names of several of the planets (some of them are confirmed locations within LU).
- The sequence of dashes adjacent to the alphabet code on the pod (see below) has also been deciphered. They're just the same series of letters, only written in
KIX, a system used by the Dutch postal service for quick scanning of post codes (obviously).
Mysteries Unsolved- What is the significance of the blacked out numbers on
this page?
- Why does the second of
these maps, posted from the B.R.I.C.K. account, show a single point on Easter Island... the same place where Bradford Rant himself went missing in 1985?
- Why are the letters N, E, S, and W highlighted on the data-plate?
And of course...
- Where will the next pod be found?
All non-original discoveries sourced from the unfiction forums.

and I love LEGO as much as the next lady but I seriously doubt they're going to plant anything anywhere near me
Being an adult >>>>>>>>>>>> being a kid
edit: t geek well now i have to reboot into windows and i'm not going to get anything done all afternoon THANKS A LOT
:C
omg
WANT
meeeeeeeep
"Found" on the first pod was a plaque (linked for huge) with coded messages on it. The column on the right is the "alphabet", so a few minutes decoding gives you...
(and the "planets" in order from left to right)
1. Gnarled Forest
2. Forbidden Valley
3. Pet Rock
4. Avant Gardens
5. Zorillo Station
Probably locations in the upcoming MMO? Also the highlighted letters correspond to "E, S, N, W" which either spells "News" or is a reference to the points of the compass.
and damn do i love legos
A clever dick over here worked out that if you click on the map with the location of the first pod you can see other maps submitted by that user, one of which has a more specific set of coordinates!
This one seems to be centered on Texas so it's looking pretty likely it'll be somewhere in that state.
EDIT: Strange numbers are hidden in the blacked out parts of this page:
31324a0d0a
363536303638
36393935393732
Any guesses what they might mean?
211297111306
59602170295864
15262566611236658
neither of which mean much to me. further coordinates, perhaps?
I don't remember legos being that expensive when I was a kid, and yes I earned money to buy them myself.
I am in Florida

Well no guarantees at this stage of course
but since, according to the website, "the pods are attracted to large amounts of LEGO® bricks and/or imagination"
it is very very likely it will turn up somewhere close to here.
I wish I was 8 again so I could ask for Lego for Christmas and be taken seriously
i get lego about every two years because my family knows i enjoy it and i usually don't ask for anything
That's too bad because I don't have a car! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa
ahaha
