Although it is AMAZING how easy it is to level cooking this week.
What's funny is I was planning on leveling it on like... The four alts that didn't have it on Saturday, but was distracted by random nonsense. (BWL and Naxx 20? of course I want to do that)
The Sunday rolls around and come to find out I get free 1-340ish. Yay procrastination!
One of the devs recently gave another interview at some convention and said, "Well, we'd like to update the character models, but then we know some people would be upset, so we're going to try and give people the option of choosing the old or new models".
Really?
Look, honestly, I'm all for keeping the customer happy, but if more than 2% of the player populace bitches about actually getting updated character models, I'll feed my balls to a rabid mongoose. There's just no way that would be the case. Yes, you're always going to have the outliers; hell, a few (VERY few) people bitched about the updated druid forms because the "missed" the old look, but those people were the minority by far (and anyone who legitimately felt that way should have their eyes donated to science, because they don't deserve them).
IIRC, the reason Blizzard is apprehensive about this is because when Everquest made their upgraded model pack optional, the vast majority stayed with the older, shittier graphics. Mainly due to speed reasons.
True, and a valid point. Thing is, these days, I'd have to imagine that most people would have a decent enough machine to run what people are proposing. From what I remember of EQ's model upgrade, they tried to push the envelope a bit and while it wasn't anything that required a bleeding-edge machine, it certainly would have taxed some of the midlines back then. I'm sure the suits at Blizzard just want to ensure that their bottom line isn't noticeably affected and I totally get that, but I really believe that they could give us a visual re-vamp that didn't require a machine that could run Crysis maxed, you know? Hell, just fix the human hairlip, orc popeye forearms and ridiculous undead "perpetually torn" arms and legs for starters.
So I was able to grab the IF table this morning after the restart before leaving for work (I showed up late, oh well). I set my character AFK flying to ZA where he would be auto booted in 20 minutes. I swear to god those fucking chairs better be at fucking Silvermoon and all the other fucking horde cities when I fucking get home or there will be fucking murder to pay.
Things that are lame: It's easier for me, on a PvP server which is slightly skewed toward Horde (I think like 1.2:1), to complete the Turkinator achievement in Tirisfal Glades. (As Alliance)
Meh, at least I have to go there anyway to visit Undercity.
The EQ updated models ran like shit because they were like a million polygons, and most of them still looked like ass.
If Blizzard only even updated the old races to look as good as Blood Elf/Draenei models that would be a step in the right direction, and obviously those models don't tax people's machines too much, because lord knows there are 10 million fucking blood elf warlocks/paladins/death knights running around.

Like I said, their arguments are crap because seven billion people are going to make worgen, and three billion people already made draeni/ blood elves

so does anyone have that dude in thier guild who is not just bad, but argues that what they are doing bad is right?
Like a dude who refuses to put down a cleansing totem on H TOC when fighting a rogue, then complains about the tanks defense when hes taking 7k damage every 3 seconds from poisons?
Oh he also doesnt dispel anything, cause its too hard to do while healing.

I was in a guild at one point where the GM (Warlock) argued that Spell Hit was useless. I soon left.

I heard, like, from some stone tablets they unearthed in Egypt that there was once a way to remove people from your guild, but its methodology has been lost to the ages.
Maybe someday we will rediscover this lost secret, fixing this problem for anyone who actually cares.
Is there any real benefit to having cooking on more than character? With this easy holiday cooking leveling stuff, I would do it if it did anything for me.

You can produce northern spices faster if you can do the daily more than once a day. Why you NEED that many spices would be beyond me, but that's all I can think of.

MUST MAKE EVERY BAR GO RIGHT.
Um, if you plan on doing the "What a Long Strange Trip it's Been" meta on any alts, you need 325 cooking for the Winter Veil stuff. There's really no reason *not* to level it right now though, considering it's like a half hour and 10s to get to 300.

As for caring, ill make sure I remind you of how much I care about anything you feel like posting, if you so decree
Yup. It happened last night. Apparently the whelpling has its own little deep breath. We were fighting the trash and DBM went off for the deep breath and everyone was like wtf? RL told everyone to put the pets away. Someone didn't and as soon as Ony went into phase 2 the pet deep breathed and everyone scattered while there were a million whelps up...fun times.
Cant people just.... read the in game raid warning? Its pretty obvious too.

I have this compulsion to be totally self-reliant on my main character, meaning I always level cooking and fishing on them eventually.
So the onyxian whelping sets of the DMB warning for deep breaths...hilarity may or may not ensue.
are you serious?
yesssss

How unfortunate for you. And them.
Also, I didn't intend any offense, just trying to phrase "Why has he not been kicked?" in a more interesting/amusing way.

Was this in 1997 or something?
I'd imagine it had something to do with raid group size being infinite (IIRC, been a long time since I played, haha) and many raids involving, well, a freaking raid of people. Also that was during the early graphics card days, where displaying a buttload of models would bring an average gaming rig to its knees.
I know when the updated models came out I sure as hell switched to them. New barbarians looked sweet.

The dude is a good guy, i mean hes not a douche. And hes also hilariously gay. So many good jokes ensue.
But hes ignorant to the point of painful. The guild leader has even spoken to me about it, since he doesnt have the balls to call him out on it. I did however, like during saph when he thoguht it was easier to heal through the drain life than dispel it, even after we wiped. On 10 man, with TOC geared players.
However, its for this reason the Guild Leader loves me, because I play a shaman that heals and DPSes. So it makes him not need this guy to heal often at all. So I guess it helps me out some.
I would love new models, even though my gaming rig of choice currently is a laptop without a 3d grafics card. On board ftl, but with everything turned down I can at least be playable.
To this day, I have never played wow on a PC capable of hitting anything past 30 fps. On low settings. I have yet to see what it REALLY looks like -_-

When Asheron's Call updated the player models a lot of players lost the look they spent extra time on the character creation screen trying to create and those players were not very happy about the change. Many of them complained and many others kept silent. (When picking the face of your character you could pick lips, nose and eyes so finding another player with your face was pretty rare.)

The humanoid model update wasn't bad but good lord did the ogres/trolls need that update SO BAD - anyone got the comparison screenshots for those models? Its hilarious.

Indeed, but frankly we have even less configuration options than that in WoW as it is today, so it's less of an issue by default. Plus, I'm willing to bet that if/when Blizzard does the model re-vamp, we'll have the opportunity to re-configure our characters features again (without having to pay the fee associated with it), at least for the first time.
Getting 40 turkeys was annoying to do right when the holiday started because so many people were out hunting. After the daily reset there were significantly less people out hunting and it took me two tries. My first attempt at 33. 2nd attempt was entirely in the area north of stone cairne lake and it was easy.
Thanks to good planning by making 4 stacks of each food right away I easily did the 5 dailies twice and got the Pilgrim title by noon yesterday. :P
Luckily the one dwarf rogue (karlrove ) on the server was in the IF auction house.

All of these achievements got a lot less annoying now that we can have alliance/horde alts on the same account on pvp servers. Seriously though does anyone actually play dwarf rogues?
Seriously though does anyone actually play dwarf rogues?
Back in Molten Core, we learned most of the content with up to 7-8 rogues, including me.
I think it was roughly 3 Humans, 3 Nelves, a Dwarf and... I'm struggling to remember the final one's race. There were others, but they didn't stick around very long.
Even back then they were rare, and we all lamented how there were practically 0 female dwarves on the server.

We had 2 in guild, 1 main 1 alt. The main race changed to Human when it became available, leaving just Pap.
Finally, Loremaster finished, and with no (old world) raid quests required! Near the end I was starting to worry that I might have to some AQ-based stuff, but I managed to avoid it, partly in thanks to the two Raptor quests that got added in Un'Goro.
(Plus I'm sure that there were a couple other quests in isolated locations that I missed)
Now I never have to do any quests again...

On warcraftrealms.com you can refine the list to show that kind of thing. Dwarves and Orc are among the lowest on the rogue scale.
I have a 72 dwarf rogue, but the alliance on the server are nonexistent, so I don't play him much. I've been on the fence on changing him to an orc, but dwarves are just too damn cool.
