So last night I was in Ironforge and a guy started spamming the trade chat with "FIRST ONE TO OPEN A TRADE SCREEN WITH ME GETS 935 GOLD!". Everyone is saying to put the guy on ignore or report him. I decide for the fun of it since I didn't have anything to do to find him since he said he was in fact in IF. Someone got to him first and just as I get there I see a tell that says "Wow, thanks man!". The guy then does the thank you emote and the spammer logs. I whisper the guy who had gotten there and asked if he had, in fact gotten the money to which he said that he did and proceeded to open a trade screen with me. I figured he was just going to show me the 950 gold. Instead, he puts in 150 then hits the trade button. Needless to say I'm intrigued and thankfully accept 150 gold which let me buy the last Primal Might I needed to make my Lionheart Blade last night.

Someone did that in UC one day, only it was claimed to be 5k gold. Sadly, I got there literally 2 seconds too late. The other guy claimed he got it but who really knows?

Lots of time and nothing much to do tonight, so I decided to finish up my Outland Dungeoneer Acheivement by hitting Magister's Terrace.

Easy as shit to solo as a DK tank. Even the Heroic. The trash is harder thent he bosses though and that cocksucker Kael 1-shot me with his pyroblast the first try.

But I got him back. He dropped the mount the first time. :)

If you're blood and in Ulduar or above gear, most Northrend heroics are available to solo. There's a video series that started back in Ulduar on youtube of a Blood DK pretty much soloing anything that's not a 10 man or above WOTLK event.

Speaking of boss vids, I'm glad Youtube finally unmuted one of my favourites.

I require more videos like this.

    Speaking of 'time is money'....

GDKP runs. Anyone have any experience with them?

I can see going to one, not actually bidding on any gear, and just coming out with a ridiculous amount of money. I need to look into it more on my server, but last night when I was sitting in LFG on my Death Knight, I saw someone advertising theirs.

Now, I read over EJ's thread, and my priest falls into this category:
The 'Geared Mains'. The backbone of your raid. These players go for the gold, go for fun or because they are bored, but they dont actually want or need anything. They outgear the content and make the run easier with their presence. You want a selection of key people in your raid to fall into this category (The Main Tank, A few healers, A few DPS).

My question, and I am just not sure about it, is this- Say I just go to heal and collect gold. I don't have to 'pony up' any initial gold to get in do I? I can just walk in, heal everyone, stay till the end, and get a shitload of gold (if people are high-rolling)

Second thing- ON death knight soloing (Cross post from hate/happy thread but summarized)

Had a reg UK pug on my DK...healer was absolute shit, so the party leader got fed up and kicked him, invited some other dps, and logged onto his druid main to heal. At ingvar, we EASILY knock out his first form (I was tanking, by the way) but then i notice that the druid D/C'd as Ingvar is being resurrected.

We had a shadow priest, but they didn't notice the druid D/C, and I was too busy tanking to type, but we managed through my clever use of mitigation and self-heals (Alchemist/Herbalist, so I had mixology, the herbalism heal, and I am unholy specced so I had death pact) to get him to 2% health, at which point I went down, but luckily the priest had realized by that time and the DPS death knight picked him up and tanked him down the last little bit.

Druid logs back just in time to see Ingvar drop and is like "Holy shit. How the HELL did you guys do that?"

    So

    DK= best class evar

    ALSO ALSO
Are there any melee dps classes where a polearm (meaning, stats considered) is a desired weapon? I love the gnome Polearm animations, and my melee dps is all gnomes (Warrior, Deathknight)

Feral Druids tend to really like them (but no weapon animations). DKs, Ret paladins, and Arms warriors often have them as stopgaps until they get a better weapon.

Thats what I thought- Desirable, but not ideal.

If they're running it as per the system started by that EJ thread, there is no ante. There is simply a minimum bid per item. If you don't need anything, you walk in, heal stuff, get gold, leave raid. Just like you said.

Yeah wait, what? The situation is fairly different between when WoW was released and when they finally started getting their shit together. And a lot of it didn't come out until the devs started seeing things in action with a large userbase, I don't think an extra year would've changed much of anything.

Weren't arenas a Burning Crusade thing anyway? They (and pretty much everyone else) agree they've had a somewhat screwy effect on the game, but delaying wow a year would've done nothing for that.

Yeah this. They need people to carry the undergeared folks through as much as they need undergeared folks with gold to give incentive for people to run them through. It's just a win all around, as long as nobody's scamming.

Yeah well, GDKP runs will probably vary depending on the server. On my backwards server where you only get one sucessfull ToC-25 pug during the week(if you're lucky) and most ToC-10 pugs can't even get past Northend Beasts, i don't think we'll ever see one.

You also kinda of need someone(or a guild) trusted by the server community to run it and strong core of raiders to make it not fail and a reasonable ammount of undergeared people with good ammounts of gold(8k+). The benefits are great but it will mostly fail if you try to do it in a server filled with idiots.

On windrunner there is a lot of guilds on the alliance side doing Gdkp runs for the reasons I said
they take X people so in a 25 man raid it can be 10 to 15 people have them fork over the gold for an invite then if the item drops pay the minimum and bid from there

On the horde one guild tired it and was laughed at because people refused to run with them for that reason

That's not really how they should be ran , that's just morons trying to take advantage of others.

Noone should pay anything to get into a GDKP pug or at least the ones i'm talking about and the ones mentioned in the ElitistJerks thread.

The only thing they need is a) gear if they're there to earn gold from the pot at the end or b) gold if they're there to buy items. This obviously falls down to the person(s) leading it.

From reading that thread, if you are just there for the money, you had better be well-geared. They're looking for undergeared folks with cash to pump the raid full of gold, or geared folks looking for money/a specific drop.

Well, I consider myself geared to the point that I have very few things I would spend money on, and my gear is good enough (and I am a good enough healer) that as long as we weren't doing Heroics (and even then, I could probably handle it) I could carry other healers.

I think you'll see GDKP die when ICC releases though, since the 5 mans will get gear close to ToC raid quality stuff and the whole system only really works for Naxx (trash isn't even a speedbump, bosses are a joke to ToC-geared folk) and ToC (no trash, 1 hr run if there's no wipes, top tier currently).

Keep in mind that you can probably throw out like a 2000g bid on something, win the item, and still make some money at the end. Also consider that if it's an established run, they probably don't need very many geared healers and as long as their regular set is around they might pass you over for someone with crappy gear but a huge pile of gold (or a lot of gear and a huge pile of gold but no Solace of the Fallen), since the purpose of the raid is to make money.
