Played me some specOps with a good buddy last night for the first time. Holy lord being the blackhawk chaingunner is all kinds of awesome. Although being the guy on the ground with the AC130 firing howitzer rounds within spitting distance of you isn't bad either, very hectic.
Hate the stealth levels though, don't like them and the dogs at all.
space nuke again. You know what a my favortie problem with the nuke destroying the ISS despite shockwaves being wholly unable to travel in a vaccum is? It's not imaginary space air, it's that the ISS apears to be somewhere over the equator and the nuke detonates over DC.
I don't think IW gets how far that is. Which would be sad if it wasn't so funny.

So guys, does anyone know if you get anything for completing ALL of the challenges for a weapon? Meaning unlock all attachments, get all camos, get 1000 kills with that weapon (Marksman VIII I believe) and 500 headshots (Expert VIII I believe) ???
Or how about completing the perk's achievements?
All the attachments gets you a new callsign title with the weapons' name on it.
All perk challenges gets you the perk icon as a callsign emblem.
Not sure about all weapon challenges, because you unlock more of those once you've prestiged.
My copy arrives today, probably in the afternoon (CST) around 2:00 or 3:00, and I need to get my multiplayer game on! If anyone wants to play then, send me a friend request.

Getting a double kill at long range with headshots, payback and buzzkill... takes about 20 minutes to get that shit off your screen so you can see again.
I've heard that you get extra weapon challenges when you prestige, such as "Get a bazillion headshots with this weapon" but don't you lose any progress in those kind of challenges when you do prestige?
It bugs the hell out of me that you have to do it to unlock extra custom class slots - five just isn't enough, giving us more should be a simple user interface improvement not some lofty award. I might do it the once for a sixth slot but leveling already seems to have slowed down a great deal so I can't really tell how long it's going to take to hit 70, I may have lost the will by then.

Which pistols? Semi-auto? Not useless by any measure of the word. Close range, perhaps.
Yeah at first it took me to get used to the changes, but now the USP is awesome. Basically since it has no recoil, you can just unload into the chest/head area from close range. Since it's semi-auto, the fire-rate is only dependent on how fast you can pull the trigger.
after logging about 40-50 hours into this game I can definitively say that all pistols in the game are fucking awesome akimbo with sleight of hand. Also, I don't think there is anything cooler than running around with akimbo .44's busting caps in asses while screaming YEEEEEEHAW! in your best stereotypical Texan accent.
i was crouching, perfectly still, riot shield aimed towards the enemy... he killed me by putting a throwing knife right through my shield.
i watched the kill cam. I wasnt moving. it literally was like
knife into shield i die.

for the record, the kill cam isn't even what the other guy saw either. It is the best approximation of what the server decided happened. With that said, he probably hit you in the side or something and the server approximated the kill as a kill but the approximation of the approximation reported it differently.
edit: I think when I make it to 70 I'm going to take a little break from the game to get caught up on my forza 3 or something, then when I come back I'll prestige, that way it'll feel new and fresh again.
I think it'd be cool if when you prestige you could maybe choose one weapon, equipment, or perk that'll stay unlocked when you roll back over to 1. . . I think the only thing I'll miss when I'm a lowbie again is the stinger.

I can not for the life of me get the knife build to work. I just get rocked.
Here's how the game winning killcam went:
1. Pick my throwing knife up off a dead body.
2. Rush through the broken wall behind the tin building.
3. Knife the guy with his back turned on me.
4. Kill the guy halfway up the steps with a throwing knife.
5. Take one shot at the guy who just turned the corner towards me, killing him with a headshot.
6. Listen to the crying after the game.

lol I still want to be able to bling tac knife and akimbo so I can make up the backstory for my character to be that he was born in 1987 and before he was born his parents lived in Pripyat.
There's been a couple of kills that I've gotten where the award popups will go on just forever.
*Blam, Blam Blam*. Blearg you are dead.
*WootWootWoot* You've just been promoted to Sgt. Major. "Hey great, that's-"
*WootWootWoot* You just completed Marksman II. "Nice, major bonus-"
*ChirpChirp* *UAV is online*. "Cool, now I can-"
*BAM* Buzzkill. "Okay, but I don't-"
*BAM* Payback. "Hey can I just-"
*Blam blam blam* "Hang on dude, I'm still getting bonuses!"
*BAM* Headshot. "Great but-" *BLAM BLAM* Blearg I am dead.

Argh, I don't suppose any of you gents have trouble connecting to games all of a sudden? I downloaded some patch last night through steam and now I'm perpetually stuck at "fetching playlists" for eternity. It's been stuck like that since last night. Any luck anyone?
space nuke again. You know what a my favortie problem with the nuke destroying the ISS despite shockwaves being wholly unable to travel in a vaccum is? It's not imaginary space air, it's that the ISS apears to be somewhere over the equator and the nuke detonates over DC.

I thought it was more jarring that it appears to be a couple of thousand miles further from the ground than it should be. Seriously, it's only 300km up.

When I played a few rounds of HC the other night it was tough to even tell when I had killed someone because I've gotten so used to seeing +100 or +150 and all the little animations and stuff on my screen each time I kill someone.

How can shock waves travel through outer space when there is no air in space to carry them?
Well, space is not in fact empty. It is filled with tenuous (and in some places not so tenuous) plasma. This plasma is much like our atmosphere and shock waves can in fact travel though it.

Edit- Although i dont know if such a shockwave would penetrate the atmosphere and such.
I still can't get online, but it looks really fun.
I'm playing through Single Player on Veteran. It isn't that difficult. I really love the Campaign in this game - it got such a bad rap from reviewers for being short. I thought it was the perfect length, not too long or too short. The quality of the missions is superb and better than COD4 and COD5.
I don't like the missions as the Rangers much, however. There's just so many enemies from every direction.

I didn't like the Ranger missions because that's not where the story was developing. I think their purpose was to demonstrate the consequences of TF 141's actions.

Hello happy.
I had a fun kill like that the other night was rocking the
SCAR-H
USP .45
Throwing Knife
Flash Bangs
Sleight of Hand Pro
Stopping Power Pro
Steady Aim Pro
Was playing on wasteland. Sitting on what I would think is the south side of the map. Went to enter that little underground part in the middle of the trenches, it played out like this.
1) Toss flashbang into the little room.
2) Charge in look right, immediately kill one guy by firing from the hip
3) Continue running past the stupid walls, look to my right
4) See guy crouched right behind the stupid walls
5) Throwing knife said guy
6) Look a little left, see guy crouched behind boxes
7) Aim down the sight for an easy headshot
It all happened in the span of about 5 seconds or so. And the third kill ended up being the game winning kill. So you caught pretty much the whole thing on the game winning kill cam. The bitching was enormous. I couldn't help but smile
Just wondering, how is the match making set up for multiplayer and spec ops on the PC?? I just want to avoid getting this game only to find out half my time is spent finding a game or I'm on forums trying to get a list of people to be on my friends list to play Halo 3 coop for example.
EDIT: Another question, how is the SP and spec ops for replayability? I probably will want to play both SP and spec ops over and over. I heard SP isn't something worth replaying because it's just a bunch of weird vehicle levels/Ooh look what we came up with, instead of a polished series of action packed levels which is what MW1 is.
Man Marathon, Lightweight, Steady Aim + Akimbo Vector is so much fun. Most of the time I get stats like 12-33 but fuck it, running around like a mad man and killing dudes in close combat is so much fun.

Defending an objective with Cold Blooded, Blinged Vectors (Silencer/Akimbo) and Ninja Pro is seriously the best ever. People walk around the corner "oh hey guys what's going on BAHRGSHSGFSG" 20 rounds in his buttocks. Nobody knows about it.

Shockwaves wouldn't travel well in space, but the radiation well, radiating from the warhead would melt the station.

My preferred defensive strategy for objectives is to put a little bit of c4 on them, hilarity abounds when the other team tries to take it.

my new favorite activity?
priming a claymore then charging headlong at an enemy screaming AIAIAIAIAIAI into my headset then planting it the instant before I die guaranteeing my payback from beyond the grave.
Guys, much like the last game, I've found that hardcore is the only way to play this game. Right now, my build is sleight of hand pro, cold blooded, ninja pro, and a Scar with silencer. I am doing really well, always with a positive ratio of k:d, and often getting ridiculous rounds like 20 - 5.
If anyone else only plays hardcore and wants to play, my gamertag is Tubesteak Boogy.
FYI there are additional weapon challenges unlocked when you prestige.

I'll probably go back to hardcore in a month or so, when more players learn that there's more to the map than their little corner campsite.

There needs to be more knife challenges.
This right there is why hardcore is nearly unplayable to me. It seemingly turns into a bunch of guys dressed like a damn bush camping their little corner of the map with a sniper rifle.
To be honest Hardcore is the game type that needs the killcam the most to discourage this stupidity. Without it, and the radar, too many people are able to camp with impunity. Gets a little frustrating being killed at random by a tree who's all the way across the map. It makes some maps almost completely unplayable(wasteland I'm looking at you). At least in normal TDM it gives me some tools to track down the camping bastards and put a knife in their back.
Edit: Though, to be fair, if you have a good team that communicates and works together Hardcore is actually really fun. But just playing a regular PUB game is one of the most frustrating things I've seen in this game. Even more frustrating that playing that stupid Favela mission in the single player on veteran.
I try to take fun secondary weapons in multiplayer, but using the stinger with scavenger and blowing up every killstreak reward the enemy gets is just to much fun....
