I wish you could majority-vote people out of games. I'm pretty sure way back on the 'ole PS2: SOCOM and SOCOM 2 had this. But somehow much more modern games don't have it.
Just mute people that are obnoxious. I do it all the time. It's not that tough. And if someone starts screaming after the lobby divides you into teams? Turn your mic down, or unplug it until the match starts. It's not that difficult.
While we wish for voting I'll add that I would like a vote for host migration feature if you're experiencing alot of lag.

Is that not what the host migration does currently? Or does it only kick in when the host actually disconnects?

Got 25 kills in a match last night. It was about the 4th match I've managed to play since release.
15 of those kills were with a vigorous knifing about the head and shoulders.

Not sure, my feeling is that it only happens when the host leaves.

This really is the best option -- at least until they implement the feature I want, which is allowing me to walk into the other guy's living room and unplug his mic, right before I slap the shit out of him.
I jest, but think of how much more polite XBL would be if we all had that option.
Until then, yes, I mute the stupid. And ironically it makes me feel BETTER about the XBL community -- like I mentioned, I only ever mute a couple of people a day. Most people are there to just quietly play the game, and some are nice.
I plan on picking this up in the next couple days. Any starting MP advice for someone with no prior MW experience?
I never had MW1 but I borrowed it from a friend in anticipation of this coming out just to get through the story. I started in on the MP after I finished the SP and I'm hooked - it's much more fun and much less frustrating than I thought it would be. Maybe something in me has changed in the last couple years but I have found it much easier to kick back and just have a fun time with this game as opposed to something like TF2, which can get really frustrating.
So far, I've heard that it's best not to worry too much about your performance until you are in the 20's. I have found myself not too emotionally tied to my performance in MW1, but I'll keep that in mind. Anything else?

I enjoy communication. Even some non-game-related communication. But the verbal abuse some of these idiots try to dole out is a little over-the-top.
I do get amused when little kids do the whole "MOOOOM! I SAID IM NOT HUNGRY. NO, I DONT WANT ANY DINNER... <HUGE SCREAM>" *bloop* LittleWhinyChild has disconnected...
When in my lightweight, commando, marathon build I often sprint past claymores before they explode to kill me very easily.
I'm sure people know this already but I just started using this combo of perks and I feel like a cheating bastard. I use an assault rifle as well so I'm pretty sure I could run even faster if I put a SMG or sniper rifle on there but it's insane how easy it is to kill. You do this electric slide right to the enemy when they are 5 feet away and you stab at them. I want to get a callsign called Capt Stabby! but so far I have to use "The Impaler".
I think the system shouldn't let you stab if you're being shot. Possibly a limit to how much you can sprint with marathon but I think the problem is just being able to warp to the enemy, take no damage doing it, and one hit kill that person with little or no aiming. Plenty of people have countered it, you can't charge head on most of the times but there are plenty of times where someone is shooting you and you should be dead but you pop a knife attack and magically move through bullets and make a successful knife attack.
I can't wait to get home now, I need to run around the map with that knife!
I'm not sure how it works in MW2, but I was glad that in [email protected]'s hardcore mode it automatically booted people after a few TK's. No waiting for an admin, no voting, no wasting time while they fuck around even more.
At least the worst they can do is generally be useless and feed the other team killstreaks, but then some new players do that anyway without meaning any harm so it's hard for me to discriminate. I'm still getting kills for challenges and exp so they can fuck off and die for all I care (In team DM anyway).

I enjoy making an entire team dump their clips into my riot shield while a friend of mine runs around and stabs them
I honestly wish there was more voice communication involving teamwork on the PC platform. I got so used to the teamwork of TF2 that I feel kind of lonely playing this game. Especially since I played as a spy and I coordinated attacks on sentries and warned players of things happening behind enemy lines.
The most teamwork I see is "lets clump together and shoot things".

No, I am not really communist. Yes, it is weird that I use this name.

The maps are smaller than they seem. Don't push forward too much or you'll find yourself surrounded by spawning enemies. Try to identify the main chokepoints of every map and then tactically fuck with that location from safety.
Walls do not equal safety.
To repeat what someone else said, slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
When aiming, use the left stick to walk left and right and to make small adjustments to your aim. This is incredibly useful at long range. Tendency is that you'll overcompensate if you use the right stick to make small shifts in aim unless you have a very delicate thumb.

Yeah. I was thiking last night after this one guy had commando pro on. If I shoot him first, why the fuck would he still be able to go al "The Flas" on me and stab my face? I think if you get shot first it should retard the forward movement of the knifeing significantly.
...predator missiles are only good against bad players that clump.
So, use them all the time.
I must be the exception that proves the rule, then, since practically every time I've been nailed by one, the killcam will show that there was a conveniently located group of teammates a few yards away, but somehow, the person controlling the drone decided I was the high value target. :x
I want to give a shout-out to whomever it was who pointed out earlier in this thread that you can cut off a riot shield user's feet at the ankles while he's walking. I also note that shield users have this instinctual urge to walk more swiftly towards you while you're prone, even if you went prone to get a better angle at their ten little piggies.

Always point your shield low so it clips through the ground and protects your feet against prone people
Also never ever strafe because your ass will stick out and get shot off

Guys I figured out the Host Migration issue and why some recieve it every match other others see it once every few days.
Host migration happens when the host leaves. The host usually leaves if someone is killing hte shit out of them and they're losing so badly they leave. So the more you suck the more chance you have of having a stable connection.

Typically I die a lot, get few kills, but I wind up having over 30 assists in a round.
It's not like the rest of us are ever alone, either, which is really the thing about shield users that strikes me as silly. The instinctual desire for one player to go left and the other to go right when confronted with a shield user is so quick that I will basically refuse to pick one up off a dead body, because it never did that guy any good, either.
Everyone does. Especially since I'll normally carry a Stinger/AT4 so I always have some form of Anti-Air.
I want my Javelin though.
Once I get that thing I might just have to put on scavenger and run around using that as my only weapon for a round or two.
Also I look forward to your knife in the eye, good sir.
On my main class I don't have an anti air gun simply because it's so big on the character model. It sticks out and I feel makes me an easier target. So I have a dedicated anti-air class for this.

No one ever does that.

Also I mainly play in HQ, where most of the time I'm in a corner and you can't do that.

Shield users remind me of Pally's from vanilla WoW in BG's. Everyone ignores him, kills his teammates, then converges on him once his shield is down.

No no one ignores the shield user because if he gets within grenade range if he's not a total tool he's going to instantly kill one of you.

We must be playing a totally different game then, because every shield user encounter goes like this: "Oh look a shield. Hey look, dudes without shields." BLAM! Kill dudes without shields, everyone focus fires shield user, he takes a bullet then dies. Or a bunch of grenades fly towards the shield user and he asplodes.
Or every shield user I've encountered are indeed tools, because I've only ever seen them attempt to shield bash.
