I did 3 for a 10k bonus and more college money. Between the 75% tuition payed from the NG and 1300$ a month from my GI bill I'll be set for school.
After that I'll have a year in the IRR, then I'm done.
The more I hear about the bonuses from other branches, the more I think, "Why did I join the Corps again?" Kudos. What's the plan for school?
Hah, I only got a bonus for changing from active duty to Guard. When I first came in I got no bonus, and I only got to choose my job, not my station.
And there is a 4 year university just opening up right next to my house, and they start taking freshmen in the fall. I'll give it a shot, and hopefully after tow years there I can transfer to Georgia Tech.

Damn, San Diego; Haven't been there in a long time. The Gas Lamp district still look nice?
Yeah, that place is incredible!
Haven't been there since I was 21...would've been the weekend of July 4th, 1999. I remember getting spectacularly laid. Alright, people, I need a general idea of a budget; nothing fancy, probably a plane flight and a hotel. Any ideas?
For me and Fram, our plane tickets were about $300 each, and the hotel room was like $130 a night or something? But uh, we got there that first night and the room they had left for us didn't have a bed. It had a pull-out sofa. So I got rather upset since we had made reservations a while ago, and uh, the bed seems like a pretty essential part of a hotel room. We got the room for half-price that night, and moved into a different room the next morning.
When Fram went to check out the last day and pay for our room, the total the guy said seemed rather small, but Fram was just like "ok!" and paid it. On the flight back he pulls out his reciept and shows me that haha, we got the room for half-price every night.

Book your hotel asap! I'm serious, room prices are outrageous that weekend and will keep increasing the closer it gets. I'm actually late this year since I haven't made my reservations yet.
Weekend and location of the con please?
To Borfase: If I wanted a snappy answer, I'd ask a snappy dresser.

But even now when I go to my salon and tell them to cut it how it would look best, all they do is cut to a shorter version of what I have now. And I'm too indescicive to go out on a limb and get it cut differently, so I'm kind of stuck.
A $600 weekend isn't too bad on my budget; it beats the price of 2700 mile round trip. How much should I budget for goodies and stuff? Or will I have to sell my ass for comic swag?

We had a bunch of cash from getting married so our swag cost estimate would be really skewed since I bought a bunch of stuff I wouldn't have otherwise.

when do they usually announce the special room rates
I don't know.
I do know that their registration site gets hit really hard and the rooms that they have sell out very quickly. I can get a similar rate and better selection by booking a little earlier.

To Jordyn: Thanks. I know it's hard to guesstimate those things, but with any luck, I'll have about $1000 in bonus money by June 1st. That should cover most of the weekend's spending as well as the bulk of the traveling costs. Since I haven't been there in eight years, how's the public transit system in San Diego these days?
Honestly the fingers on her shoulder creep me out more than her face because they look like sausage fingers but have weird knuckles and I just imagine they are gross to behold

Did you get my PM about March, btw? It's slowly becoming more solidified, so I would say count on me being around that week.
If it's not, I'm looking at you, Deemer.
