Printer firing blanks...

I'm trying to do a bunch of T-Shirt transfers, and my printer for some reason won't print anything unless it is set to "Plain Paper." The trouble is, I need to set it to "T-Shirt Transfer," or at least "Photo Paper" so that it stops smearing the ink all over the transfer.

If it is not set to "Plain Paper," it pretends it is printing, but the paper comes out blank.

- Ink is not empty.
- Image is pure black and white
- Tried printing from photoshop as well as converting to PDF and printing from Acrobat
- Tried "Greyscale" as well

Canon ip3000
Windows Vista

Any ideas?

Edit: So, I've solved this I think. I guess if you pick anything other than "Plain paper," the printer will use the colour ink tanks for the job. Even though my image is on "Greyscale" and simply black and white, it's trying to use colour ink. My colour ink tanks, incidentally, are empty.
