    alright 3 things

i just went inside the florence cathedral, this game is gorgeous and i got such big prince of persia vibes from seeing all the architcture ready to be solved. it's one thing to run across the city's various roofs, but another to look at the poles and the lovely architecture and think "how do i get to there from here"

the plot is stupid. apparently anyone with any sort of skill- including fucking houdini- was in on this piece of eden shit

and the controls can suck my dick. i was going to do a ledge takedown when ezio turns around, leaps backwards 20 feet, and onto a guard across the street, to the anger of his two best friends. ARGH

Does the Uplay Atair armor have any stats? Is it comparable to Ezio's outfit? Or what's the deal with it?

That Venice escort mission with the boat?

    I failed it.

    How?

I thought "hey,we are home free, why should I walk?" and jumped on the boat. The passengers jumped out into the water. "Your ally has died".

    Oooops.

The Uplay stuff is tied to 4 "actions" which are really just specific achievements/trophies you earn through play. You earn points from Ubisoft which can be spent on extra crap. Its not DLC. Its free and its included on the disc. You just gotta register on their site uplay.com and then spend the points from in game. Access the uplay store with Y/Triangle on the main menu. There's a total of 4 things you can purchase:

    -- A Premium Theme for your Dashboard/XMB
    -- Extra Throwing Knife Capacity
    -- Altair's Classic Outfit
-- Auditore Family Crypt map - this is a platforming map with some family history on plaques inside the crypt. Not essential to the story. It just fills in some history of Ezio's ancestors.

Yeah...but money is pretty trivial. The extra cash doesn't mean a whole lot. I just arrived in Venice and bought everything I could from all the vendors and I still have over 100k to spare.

On a side note, this is a total noob question but how do I get up the tower for the viewpoint at "Santa Maria Glorosa Dei Frari"? That's the location of a templar crypt, and I can't find my way up to the top of the tower.

I just find it odd that people keep complaining about how things look on their old SDTVs while they're playing $60 games on their systems that are a minimum of $200.

I'm not sure if you're just playing devil's avocado but just because you have some money does not mean you have more money. Frugality is a virtue. "Just buy one!" is needlessly opulent.

It's true though.. You can get an hdtv for 200 dollars these days and I guarantee that the 360/PS3 and AC2 was way more expensive then that.

Yes, but to some a game is a big purchase on it's own. I've been lucky enough to have been able to afford a 360 due to certain deals and having a bit better time with income, but not nearly enough to warrant a $400-$500 purchase just so I can see my games clearly. I know it doesn't sound like a lot, especially when you place that amount next to a game plus console, but for those on limited incomes, you are lucky to get what gaming goodness you can.

It's not a huge problem really, just sort of an inconvenience for those of us who don't want to look up a handful of puzzle answers. Most of them I can do just fine, though.

edit: Forgot to mention my thoughts on how to fix it. Make a switch in the settings menu. "Low res/ High res" problem solved.

Man I just did the most badass thing.

I just arrived in Venice and there#s this escort missions. So I run towards the target and suddenly 3 guards come around the corner ready to attack me. And they run right into me. I press "X" and BAM double hidden blade to the head (2 guards at the same time) and the third guard couldn't stop in time so he had his back to me and BAM stab in the back. It was all over in less than 2 seconds. Those poor bastards couldn't even draw their swords.

@unbreakablevow: You know why? Because somewhere, deep down in your mind, you are thinking to yourself "maybe this is not that far off...." :D

    klyka's a templar, stab him

I got the "Kill 10 people in one combat without getting hurt" achievement (unexpectedly) with a single smoke bomb and the double hidden blades. During one of the side missions I dropped down onto a large group of guards, dropped the smoke bomb and hit X a few times, barely moving as I killed EVERYONE around me in a whirlwind of fury. Then I ran off cackling.

OK, I'm puzzled. From reading this thread, it sounds like there are some significant things I'd miss if I don't have the right DLC or special edition or uplay thing.

    1) What is uplay? I started registering, noticed that the terms and condition screen won't let you scroll the terms and conditions document faster than two lines per second -- extremely shady, like they REALLY don't want you to skip to the end and notice something evil -- so I cancelled. What will I miss if I don't go back and register?

    2) Under options there's a place to enter a code, and it warns that code will then be tied to this specific gamer tag . . . but I have no code and I bought the game new. Do we know what thing or things get unlocked by this screen?

    3) Are there special editions or retailer-specific editions that are required to see some of the plot or story?

I'm starting to feel like I should've done my homework before purchasing. X__X My main character doesn't even have bladed weapons yet -- I'm not very far in at all.

Scroll up a few posts to see my description of Uplay. I'll address the rest of your concerns here.

    1) Uplay is free. All you do is go to uplay.com, make an account on the website. Then go into the game and hit Y/Triangle to access the in-game uplay site. You must first merge your Live ID / PSN ID with your account. This is done from in game. You can see the rewards I listed above. None of them are essential to the story.

2.) Not sure what you're talking about here. Do you mean the exclusive content page? This is for people to input their preorder codes and stuff. And as above, none of the preorder items are essential to the story. Its all just bonus maps with a platforming puzzle and money at the end as a reward.

    3) There's a collector's edition, but it does not include anything story essential. You get 1 bonus map with the CE, and like everything else, its just a bit of extra gameplay that has no bearing on the plot. The standard version of the game has everything you could ever need. The various bonus maps from preordering and collector's edition are all about 10 minutes long apiece and are nothing but extra platforming puzzles.

People that complain about not having HD are fucking retarded. I have an old ass 27" 4:3 HDTV (480p), that's my main TV, and I love it to death; but there's a little 19" SD LCD in the back room that I also love. I can game on anything, so long as I can game in the first place.

I just got to Venice and am in love with the game, even though it went apeshit during the boat escort mission and my platforming constantly failed. I think it was just some user error, though. I'm gonna eat and get right back into it.

Speaking of HD; HOLY SHIT, THE TV IN THE SAFE HOUSE OUTSIDE THE ANIMUS IS LIKE 100' WIDE.

Yeah, I sort of like that UPlay has a semi-tangible reward system. You get trophies or achievements, you get new costumes. It's how it should be. And if you have any left over you can use it on a different UBI game, I think.

I actually understand where you're coming from. When Dead rising released I was on a 15" sdtv and it was alright. I didn't have trouble reading anything at all. I bought a 28" sdtv a couple months after and that sucked balls. Despite being bigger it somehow made reading text next to impossible. I guess its the screen quality or something because that was really back-ass-ward. Now I'm on a 17" lcd monitor and its fine but occasionally I'll take it to the living room and play on the 32" HDtv there...... which I actually don't like all that much. Weird.

go to dna and move to the right. Do the hustle until you reach feathers in secondary memory. Clcik A/X on it and you'll open a list that shows the areas with the respective feather amounts as well as how many you have from that particular area. Cool beans huh?

If I had a way to track how often I have used each assassination method, "long drop/drowning" would be at the top. I just wish other guards would investigate their missing buddy - so they could easily meet the same fate, of course.

Poison also makes the "stealth kill" missions almost ridiculously easy.
