The statue of Taras Shevchenko — a 19th-century artist and poet credited with establishing the modern Ukrainian literary language — was discovered missing on the weekend by two visitors to a 16-acre memorial park in North Oakville. Police believe it could have been stolen anytime between Dec. 15-31.

Seriously, stealing a fucking statue for metals? You'd get the same loot breaking into any plumbing supply warehouse. Hell, you could simply go to one of the myriad hospitals that have been closed and strip them as well. Just take out the rent-a-cop and you're gold.

Fucking amateurs.

the library here has this statue of prometheus, and he is diving down to earth and has some fire in his hands, right

some vandals took some cutting torches to it

i was kinda pissed at first when i heard about it, but then i saw what they had actually done. the news only said that it had been vandalised, they didn't give any details

so i went and looked, and what they had done was just cut the fire out of his hands and took that

i laughed my ass off and then was sad because no one else got it

The house I lived in last year got broken into by a bum who tried pulling down all of our pipes in the basement for presumably for the copper. I came home from work to see one of my roommates chase him down the street and then went downstairs to see the water still running and flooding the basement.

That fucking mess took forever to clean up.
