The Daily Show/Colbert Report thread about fake news and I guess The Onion too

So basically, The Daily Show has really been fucking amazing lately

the interview with Joe Biden this week was great

Jon laying into Lou Dobbs was wonderful

Colbert is consistently terrific and has really come to own his character exquisitely. He talked Woody Harelson into letting him shave his head on camera.

Also, this happened last night, which was wonderful.

Shoe, you should watch that link up there.

God I love Jon Stewart so much.

He's also voted the most trusted news anchor in the nation.

The Onion article about landing on the moon was my favorite of all time. I laughed so hard.

Personally I find Colbert a lot more entertaining that Jon Stewart. Not that I don't like the Daily Show, but satire tickles me in a way that TDS's more straightforward brand of comedy doesn't. Also the correspondents on TDS have been pretty lame lately.

They're not bad. I mean it is pretty hard to try to fill the combined shoes of Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell, but they do ok.

    I really enjoy John Oliver.

I feel just the opposite. I like Colbert, but he always plays the same shtick whereas Stewart isn't just playing a character so I find him more clever and amusing.

    see, that's stupid as hell

also, man, when jon drops the schtick and really goes into an interview, he's fucking fantastic

and the fact that he can really say whatever he wants is great

    for instance

the other night, some dickfuck conservative pundit was talking about "liberals" and how they don't have many children and how they "don't allow down's syndrome to happen"

and jon's reply was "Go fuck yourself"

which is really all it deserved

Nothing against Jon, I just think Colbert is funnier. And nobody will ever convince me that Samantha Bee isn't terrible.

Jon Stewart kicks so much arse.

Colbert is funny, but Jon isn't afraid to tell somone to their face that they're a fuckhead, and that I like.

Like that lady he had on about the healthcare bill, and she was all like "Death panels blah blah" and he was all, "Bullshit, here's proof you're lying, let's go to break."

"But wait, I can find it..."

I think the thing that I really respect the most about Jon Stewart is that all satire aside, when he gets some dillhole to sit down face to face with him, he will straight up ask them to their face the actual tough questions that everyone wished they could ask. Fashioned in a way that there is no ambiguity or misunderstanding on their part of their position, and then he will use facts or their own words to straight up demolish what they just said on national TV.

Smile at the TV because everyone in the world now knows without a doubt that you are a giant piece of self serving shit, or a bigot, or both.
