So guys, I know I asked before, But If I could get some spoilered help on how to go about getting sten's sword, I'd really appreciate it. Like, from start to finish.
The writing is... good. But i find my self getting bored of it in parts. The story is fun- but the dialouge and names of things just seem so uninspired. The Joining? The Blight? Darkspawn? Pretty boring.
I've been playing this a lot lately, I'm about level 8 or so.
I don't fully grasp the tactics system. I mean, I get it at first blush; it's a basic if/then command system that uses one condition and one result to produce a meaningful command. So far, so good. However, I'm confused about how the game determines targeting.
1.) If I set up the "Enemy - > Targeted by - > Main character = Attack" sequence, for instance, that character will attack my main character's target. Which is to say, all the time.
2.) If I set up, however, the "Enemy - > Health - > less than 75% = Dread Howl" or whatever, how does that work? Does the character (my dog in this case) target an enemy with less than 75% health, or does he do the chosen command when his current target reaches less than 75% health?
In short, I find myself frustrated by a lack of a "target" command.

I suggest the following namechanges
Joining - Bad Blooddrinky Thing
Blight - Holy Shit That's A Lot Of Evil Dudes And One Big-Ass Evil Dude
Holy shit! I've just discovered that donating Elfroots to the Elven army gives you one XP per a root! you can buy an infinite amount of them at the Brecilian forest, for 75 Copper each.
That's around 200XP per a Sovereign spent. Munchkin sense tingling...

Go to the docks by the mage tower. Talk to the guy right by the entrance. He gives you the name of some guy outside Orzammar. Go talk to him. He tells you he sold the sword to someone in Redcliffe. Go there. Get the sword. Give it to Sten.
hey, how can I set up tactics so my spirit healer revives people who get knocked out
is that even possible
Nope. That one you have to do manually, I believe. Considering the cooldown of revive, and the fact that the AI would probably just cast it while the party member is still surrounded by enemies, that's probably not a bad thing.
well see since I'm a heathen who's playing on the 360 and otherwise having a jolly good time of it, revival is pretty hard to use manually, since I have to actively search for the dead asshole I'm trying to wake up, and while I'm doing that, whatever killed the guy is killing the rest of my team
so it'd be nice if the ai could handle that one for me, but it's not a huge deal

Can't you just target using the portrait on the side of the screen?

It's weird. I've played this game for over 100 hours over many characters but have yet to do landsmeet / the end of the game. I quite literally don't even want to. Never have I felt such antipathy towards a game's plot o.O

no, it does this radial thing
and I can't click on the portrait or anything, because, again, 360
In the orphanage at the landsmeet, when I walk into the room with the Demon, go through the cutscene, kill him, then talk to the Templar; the intro cutscene starts again with the party walking though a door, then instantly to the 'victory' dialouge.
Problem is, all the doors in the room are closed and unpickable, theres no lootable corpses or chests and talking to the guy does nothing. Hmm.

Okay.
1. Get Quest
2. Go to Lake Calenhad and talk to the scavenger near the entrance.
3. Go to the Frostback Mountains and talk to Faryn
4. Go to Redcliffe, and talk to Dwynn.
Keep in mind that actually having Sten in the party for these events tends to lead to amusing dialogue.

I had that, too. I believe walking towards one of the doors and back to the templar somehow got the game back on track.

Mm, new thread. Let me take this opportunity to re-pimp the DA Gore Adjustment mod. I think it is fantastic. It comes in three flavors:
I use 'Severe' myself.

Has anyone gone Duelist spec yet? Is it as useless as the descriptions make it seem, or are the tooltips incomplete like so many others?
I am about to really get started on my city elf rogue playthrough. I am going to have a melee blender group: respec'ed Sten tanking, Wynne as pure support with Haste, and the MC and Zevran as walking jam processors. Not sure what the second spec for the rogues should be. Maybe make the MC bard/assassin and Zevran assassin/bard to have Courage and Valor going at the same time.

It's not bad.
Dueling is a very nice boost to attack (which is a nice sustain to keep going alongside Momentum).
Upset Balance is 100% useless.
Keen Defense + Evasion means you are a fucking god at avoiding attacks. Got aggro? No problem, unless it's a boss with their so fucking common "haha fuck you rogues" push down/grab attacks.
Pinpoint Strike is okay, but not brilliant. Always-on crits from the front are nice, but proper positioning should mean you get them anyway from backstabs, especially with Combat Movement.
I was hoping Duelist would have been more like a combat rogue in WoW. All swords and disarming and better at face to face combat.
Well, from the skills it seems this was the intention of Bioware.
The problem is that the bonuses from the Duelist talents really aren't good enough to override the inherent bonuses that backstabs give, and you're still too weak to really function is a pure frontline fighter.
Edit: Also, bosses. And Revenants. And every skill that knocks you down. And AOE spells. And...

Right. In the end all it's really good for is the increase to attack and defense. The guaranteed crits are only really usefull for shattering things.
I wonder how robust the toolset is in regards to altering spells and talents. A rebalance mod seems to be in order.

I believe backstabs aren't actually counted as crits. Hence why you don't shatter everything you hit when it's frozen. That means that this could be really nifty if paired with cone of cold.

turns out alistair is lonestar
brb naming mabari barf
It makes sense once Alistair is convinced to live happily ever after with her at the end of the game.
You know the quest non-human nobles do to get him?
There you go.

He had divine blood, but he was very much a warrior/general character. Plate Mail and a giant two-hander.
Though if I remember right I guess he did cast some fireballs after that maze. Its been awhile

My new goal is to top that with a Storm of the Century dragon kill.

assassin, now, THAT is a good goddamn class.
This made me go through my screenshot folder to see if I had anything this awesome.
I did not.
Also not sure why the game decided to put my elf treaty before my mage treaty, as I did them the other way around.
