they're arrayed around the periphery of the roof. You can turn them and fire them at the demon for 40 or so damage a pop on hard mode. It speeds up phase 1 and 3 quite a bit.
Of course you can also never find them because the game never really tells you they're there or how to use/repair them (traps skill apparently) and win conventionally, which isn't really harder but takes more time and more potions
Do you guys not run around with the tab key pressed? They're pretty easy to find. :P
I found them fine on the 360, I just didn't know what to do with them. I turned one and fired it once and it was like 'blocked' and I just said forget it.
That and I didn't have anyone with traps skill with me so I couldn't have repaired them anyway

Repair them? You don't repair them you just turn them a few times then fire. There's no need for a Rogue.
There's no similar button on the consoles to show all items in the room? That would be pretty shady if there wasn't.
Also about not having to use ranged and the Bracilian Forest ruins:
How did you guys kill that revenant(? I think that was its type) in the ruins then? It would always spawn waves of undead plus teleport when I got to close to it. I had to switch one of my warriors to a bow (even though he had no skills in it) and the other was just to keep the undead off my mages and archer guy. Did you guys keep him permanently stunned to be able to melee him?

I have never used a bow (except for the quest in which you have to have one on your PC) the entire game and then I got to this fight. Morrigan had left me so the only range I had was Wynne. What really annoyed me was this was the point that i noticed I could call in an army. I accidently hit Dwarves and couldnt tell them to fuck off to let the Dalish in. It took about 15 minutes to damage that dragon enough to get him to come back.
Is the phase 2-3 transition actually damage-dependent? I thought it was just based on how many waves of dudes you killed. I didn't do very much to him at all during P2 the first time I fought it.
I don't think I even killed one wave of Darkspawn mobs. I retreated to one of the Ballista, set me and Alistair to tank the Mobs, had Leliana fire the ballista at the Archdemon, and Wynn just healing us as needed. I didn't even think to call an army in (though I wish I had, then maybe I wouldn't have lost both Wynn and Leliana). In the end, it was me and Alistair on either side of the archdemon hacking away and drinking potions while ignoring the Mobs.

you apparently can use traps skill to repair them so that they can fire more than like, twice. If you can't repair them you could do almost as much damage in the time it took to run over there and back anyway

I wonder if that has to do with trying to fire too fast, or just luck, or what? I've yet to see that happen.
Maybe it doesn't happen on the 360 version?
No idea. Another thing that vexes me:
Reports indicate that in Wardens Keep the person who drops the Warden Commander Armor can also sometimes drop a silverite shield to go with it. Nothing amazing, but it still pisses me off that something like that is just a completely random drop.

These are links to Bioware's North American Canadian site, but you can access them from america as well. Technically, links also exist to the premium DLC (Warden's Keep, Stone Prisoner, etc.), but since you'd still need to be logged into your authorized account, they'd do you no good. The benefit is that these won't be disabled if you cannot access the net or something. These are also the only way I know that someone without a constant internet connection can use (some of) the preorder content.

Stone Prisoner is quite different for a lot of reasons
The Stone Prisoner DLC isn't DLC at all, it was cut content that wasn't finished in time for content lock that got a new chance at life thanks to EA pushing back the release date so consoles and PC would be ready at the same time yadda yadda. All the heavy lifting with Shale was already done. Voice acting, etc
Also this is why we're never getting any DLC including new party members like Shale again, or new Origins by Biowares own admission.

Well, Rob Bartel over on the official boards said some of the later content for Warden's Keep ended up being cut, so it is likely a result of that.
Its not like DLC couldn't just add a screen at the end of the game when you have those blurbs about what happened to all the peoples of Ferelden. I don't see how being DLC makes it so that it can't have an effect on the epilogue.

Neither do I but given that the epilogues are already pretty messed up and buggy and I'm not a developer, I'm gonna avoid judging too harshly since it's a pretty minor issue. If it makes you feel any better assume he never learned anything compelling.

that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
About as long as the deep roads.
No idea. Another thing that vexes me:
