Again, my only problem with her as a character (she's a very believable person) is that the game seems to want us to believe she's quite intelligent but she doesn't do a whole lot to demonstrate it.
Would her solving some trigonometry problems help?
Yeah I don't get it. She seemed really intelligent. She knew how to look at things so good she could turn into them. And her encouragement of say, not helping out random peasants and taking every possible short-term advantage you could get over everyone you meet makes sense if you don't realize you're in a gameworld where time stops for you to finish things up. Hell, I don't actually remember her arguing for a stupid course of action ever. It's not like if you do something she agrees with things turn out worse.
I think you confuse "stupid" with "talks back". The whole reason I liked Shale and Morrigan is because they refused to allow my position and my quest to blind them to their objections.
