The best thing about The Provings is playing as a Dwarf Female Commoner.
Oh man were they pissed in the intro that not only a female beat everyone, but that she was a commoner as well.
You win the proving, Dwarf announcer goes "THE ANCESTORS HAVE SPOK- what? Its a girl?!? A fucking girl... ITS A FUCKING CASTELESS! Well fuck the ancestors then!" makes it kind of hard to take seriously then.
I never did the final fight. He starts the intros and then
the guy you're impersonating stumbles in drunk.

How do I get into the criminal woman's base? I'm at a loss. Thanks
Generalized answer:
Talk to the various people around Dust Town. One will tell you what they use as a key. Go to the empty house to get it then you can go enter the base through the other house.
True, but keep in mind that some people (ie me) had to...
...enter and exit that empty house 4-5 times before the encounter suddenly triggered.
We need a complete set of Duncan's Armour too.
So Alister can wear it.
Duncan's hair and beard is available in a mod (christ, poor Duncan), so you can use it in the character builder, but unfortunately the beard doesn't really fit the head models. The chin clips out a bit through the beard and the sides doesn't make contact with the face, so I guess we need the old fellow's head as well...
So how effective is the two-hand weapon warrior type? I'm a couple hours into my first playthrough (just left Ostagar basically) and I've gotten trounced at least twice. Am I starting down the long road towards Pain in the Neck City, or am I just bad at this game?

They're fine. No class/type is unusable, and all are very much playable.
In later levels warriors start to come into their own, though you might want to pick up Wynne pronto, as having a dedicated healer makes the game a lot easier. She's in the Mage Tower.

Also I take it you have the Blood Dragon Armor. Get it from the vendor in your camp, and if you're a dwarf noble do the trick where you turn it off in the downloadable content area, force load a save, and then exit and reload it to get the chest. Pump your strength to 38, trust me. You wont miss the con.
I just killed that rat bastard Uldred. Pretty epic fight. But uh, I was kinda hoping to actually save the mages that were being held hostage. However, at the end of the battle... they ended up all dead anyways. Was there a chance of saving them? Did I screw up the dialogue or actual battle in some way?

According to my playthrough...
I do not think so. Then again, I completely forgot about the Litany the second the fight started because I was more concerned with the BIG FUCKING DEMON and all. Regardless of this fact, First Enchanter Irving was not turned into an abomination. Which, uh, I thought was the whole point of giving us the litany. To, you know, STOP him from turning into an abomination. Interesting bug, but it saved me from reloading and having to start the fight over.

Yeah, the idea was that you were supposed to use the litany. Your party members/Irving actually yell "use it now!" during the battle right before a mage is going to be turned into an abomination. I don't know if you let the fight go on long enough if Uldred turns Irving into an abomination or no.

For those of you interested in using the toolset - it's really pretty screwed at the moment. Stuff like sunlight doesn't work o.O
Fuck yeah. Was having trouble keeping Alistair alive, until I realised that I had found some Templar armour.
He's doin' okay now. Still hates my guts for killing everyone I meet, but eh, what can you do.

Interesting exploit in the Fade section of the mage tower
In your companion's personal dream sections, you can restart the initial dialogue by talking to your companion again IMMEDIATELY after you kill whatever demon is in their dream. With Sten at least, you can gain approval during this dialogue. Every time you have it.
Steps to replicate
1) have Sten in your party when you enter the fade
2) unlock Sten's dream
3) talk to Sten
4) Choose the dialogue options 1,1,3,2,1 (I think, the ones that are "I'm your boss, we gotta go now.")
5) Kill his friends
6) talk to Sten again as quickly as possible.
I suspect that you can do the same thing with any character that you can gain approval with.
What? Alistair totally has a bromance with the male PC. You just gotta be nice to him and do his personal quest.
Bromance =/= sex, guys. You know that, right?
I believe they do, but in this particular instance, I think they were hoping that Alistair might realize his feelings for the main character weren't all plutonic... And the way he cared for me after Duncan died, he has such a soft, caring voice, and oh... his arms. I never realized how soft his arms really were...

Sounds like someone is channeling the Bioware forums.
Lies! He loves me.. he... he... just doesn't know it yet! .
But yeah I was dissapointed you can't bromance alistar
Really? God fucking dammit. So, only
Morrigan, Leliana and Zevhan
are romancable on a male PC? :? And I think Leliana has that wierd bug where you need to restart the relationship.
I am unfamiliar with this bug. Explain?
Relationship value is at 100% and no conversation options except the "Tell me a story again" are available. I've given her the flower and I haven't had any romantic conversations opened.
Been mentioned a few times in the thread before I think, you need to trash the relationship down then build it up again to unlock the romance options.

Yeah, this happened to me with Leliana. I had her at like +96 and "Warm" and had no dialogue options other than to throw her out of the party. So I used the console to get her approval down to ~24 (the command is "runscript zz_addapproval 9 -X" where X is how much you want to reduce your approval.) Then I could go through and make lovey dovey talk with her.
After that you can either get her approval back up the normal ways, and continue to make lovey dovey talk, or you can use the same command, only with a positive number.
Maybe... if you can find ways to make her hate you through the game, you're good. As in, make choices she doesn't like, or if you have any dialogue options with her, be mean to her.
EDIT: I should say, "like you less" instead of "hate". Don't make her hate you.
EDIT2: Oh and I believe the way you get into this situation is to get her approval past a certain band, like 0-24, without doing her conversations. So to avoid it, make sure you check in with her for conversation before you shower her with gifts or go long periods saving the world.
I don't know if I'd go that way exactly, but I suppose that is definitely the easiest way you'd have to study some forms.
That's kind of awesome, though.
Thing is, I'd actually kind of like if someone just made Bear/Spider/Swarm more useful. Bear should be able to tank at least as well as Dog.
I think most of it is that the Con scores for the animal forms don't nearly make up for their drawbacks. Or Magic scores in the case of the swarm. They really should all have a mass stun/disable, too. I mean they don't even get all of the normal enemy abilities.
If you activate "Flame Breath", but move to cancel the casting before it casts, the flame effect still comes out. So I'm running around Denerim blowing fire everywhere.
The Alistair/Logain decision was the worst in the game for me. To do the right thing I had to lose one of my favourite characters in the game. At least Alistair didn't attack me or anything, but...

At that point, the right thing is lopping his head off. Which is a shame, because I think from the get-go i'd rather have been siding with Loghain than that dumb king. Just shows bioware can't do anything new, as this is sarevok redux.

The right thing should have been to gut Loghain in the duel, and then let Anora get buttfucked by those guys from the city elf origin, been a while since I "hated" a character but damn I knew that bitch would stab Me in the back again

Well, he was a hero to the countrymen, during the Orlais war. He did what he thought was right to defend his country, and is a competent general. Seems a waste to kill him.
Besides, I'm the type of guy that always gives people a chance at redemption. Lawful Stupid pretty much.

Not to mention the Warden philosophy of anything to beat the darkspawn. You have the option of making a brilliant general and tactician one of your ranks, or killing him and losing possibly critical strategic input.

That's actually an interesting point. Maybe it was because I hated the Grey Wardens anyway, but I would have sided with Loghain in an instant if I'd had the choice. If you want to stop the Blight, who gives a shit who sits the throne? Loghain is just as good an ally as Cailan was. And if you don't care about the Blight, then you still don't have any motive to hate Loghain, other than the fact that he betrayed some guys that you didn't know.

Anora was the queen of the cast iron bitchazons. After I tried to free her and she sold me out, I talked to her about how I wanted her support with alistair being on the throne. Sure, she was arguably the better adminstrator, but ferelden was in a state of war, which she had zero expierience with and once she was queen, there really was very little to stop her from saying GTFO.
Surprise surprise, the cast iron bitch stabbed me in the back and split the landsmeet. Felt really good whacking her daddy's head off8-)

I'm at the Landsmeet, just before going into the royal palace. Is there a point of no return soon?
And, do vendors restock gifts? Because I can't find any at all in the major camps and cities.
