CESA, short for Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association, has been tracking illegal downloads of top selling handheld games. Out of all the titles – DS and PSP – Dissidia: Final Fantasy was downloaded the most.
According to their data, the PSP game was downloaded 5,281,223 times. CESA estimates a loss of 30,631,093,400 yen ($335 million) in sales. The dollar amount is questionable due to used game sales, price drops, and people who would never have purchased Dissidia anyway. In spite of those factors that number is still staggering.
These are some of the other top pirated PSP games developed in Japan.
Phantasy Star Portable 2 –
4,665,510 downloads worth 22,394 million yen ($245 million)
Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce –
2,072,942 downloads worth 9,950 million yen ($109 million)
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite –
1,820,282 downloads worth 8,322 million yen ($91 million)
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII –
1,223,881 downloads worth 7,098 million yen ($77 million)
Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs. Gundam Next Plus –
1,1187,341 downloads worth 7,100 million yen ($77 million)
Tales of the World Radiant Mythology 2 –
1,131,319 downloads worth 5,603 million yen ($61 million)
Dissidia has an insane amount of depth crammed into it. Ten different story campaigns, then Shade Impulse, which is longer than that, not to mention all the multiplayer and achievement stuff.
You forgot Inward Chaos, Distant Glory, The Cosmos/Chaos Reports and secret/real ending, and Colosseum.

Do I even want to know? O_o I haven't even finished Shade Impulse yet, because I did all ten story campaigns first.
So, because of the maintenance shenanigans (that may or may not have something to do with 3D Gaaaaaeeeemssss), the US Comic store hasn't updated. Likewise, the PAL, uh, Store has not updated. But...the PAL Comic store update is up and the NA Store...
I'm just going to hold off until tomorrow to update. Because this is just a thing that is meant to annoy all of us.

Uh, assuming you've got the latest firmware, you've already got the 3D patch. The PSN's got nothing to do with it. It's far more likely that this is either standard maintenance or setting up features Sony will announce at E3 (like their premium service).
And didn't the PAL update come out early because of the maintenance?

Hrm, yeah, I forgot about that. I guess them saying "prep for upcoming features" I figured it was just a framework thing and not the whole but you're right.
And Jesus, I gave up looking for the Heads-Up about halfway down the first "Older Entries" page. No wonder I missed it. Sorry about that guys.

THE GUNDEMONIUM COLLECTION LAUNCHES ON THE PLAYSTATION®NETWORK!
Sony Online Entertainment and Rockin’ Android Bring First-Ever Doujin Games to the PSN
WHAT: On June 15, 2010, Sony Online Entertainment and indie video game developer Rockin’ Android will release the Gundemonium Collection on the PlayStation®Network. The arrival of the Gundemonium Collection marks the first doujin, or Japanese-indie “bullet hell” shooter games to hit the PlayStation Network. The action packed Gundemonium Collection can be purchased as a bundle for $14.99 or each of the three titles, Gundemonium Recollection, GundeadliGne, and Hitogata Happa, will be available individually for $5.99.
FEATURES: Each game delivers action packed 2-D anime-style game play, and brings the indie “bullet hell” genre to the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. With high-impact weaponry, each of the Gundemonium titles offers multiple levels of frenetic action, remote play capability and at least ten PlayStation®Network Trophies. Players are also able to take snapshots and video of their in-game action to upload to YouTubeTM.
Gundemonium Recollection features:
Three playable characters and a fourth unlockable
Five levels of intense side scrolling bullet gameplay
Story, Practice and Mission modes allow players to take their shooting skills to the max
GundeadliGne features:
Two playable characters and a third unlockable
Five Levels of multi-directional bullet-hell action
Six Matrix Masters counter attack spells to choose from
Co-op two player mode
Hitogata Happa features:
Seven playable characters, and an eighth unlockable
Six stages of top down overhead gameplay
Unlockable hidden missions
WHEN: The Gundemonium Collection is now available for $14.99 on the PlayStation Network. Gundemonium Recollection, GundeadliGne and Hitogata Happa are also available individually for $5.99 each.
So, if I snagged MGS: Peace Walker off the PSN, I could just upgrade my PSP firmware and USB transfer it to my PSP, yes?
Yeah. You can either upgrade your PSP by downloading the update directly to it via wifi (and then running the update, which will be in your game list), or by downloading the update here and then transferring it via USB to your PSP (to the Game folder), then running it (also in your game list).
Doing it that way is nice because it will download a lot faster using your PS3 than it will directly to the system using the PSP's wifi, and you won't have to worry about starting all over if you get disconnected.

I bought pixeljunk monsters some time ago and when I went to re-download it earlier I noticed you can't actually buy it at this point... or download it even if you bought it already.
anyone know a way around this? I'll buy the deluxe version they released if necessary but I want to be able to play on my tv.
thanks. just checked out psn after a while not even glancing at it and there are some playstation games I can't wait to play again.

You didn't just look for it on the store did you? Completely ignoring the 'Download List' button up the top (and in the Account Management part of the XMB)?
I don't know if I want all 3... I most likely won't beat a single one anyway. Someone recommend me the best of those 3 to buy!
I kind of have the same feeling. The size of the sprites are really putting me off, so I think I'm going to lean toward the top-down one.
(Unless the size of the sprites has nothing to do with the hit box, which is common with bullet-hell games.)
honestly im not a huge fan of gundeadligne, from playing the demo a while back. the side scrolling giant sprite thing didnt really work for me. but! im definitely buying all three anyway, if only to encourage sony to release more shit like this you know.

So uh, I'm supposed to do Slash's 'weekly release thread' this week, but looking at GameFAQs, those shmups are literally the only noteworthy thing coming out.

Unless you like Toy Story 3.
Toy Story 3 looks like it's going to be pretty awesome, to be honest. Exclusive character for PS3, plus the Toy Box mode... I'm not writing it off at the moment, it's actually got my interest piqued.

Yeah, except that's going to sell just on brand recognition. Those shmups deserve every bit of attention that can be drummed up, especially to support the doujin market in the US.
Imagine the Touhous getting that kind of treatment with a professional localization.
man i would kill a dude to get some touhou games on the ps3. god just imagine.
edit: really, if they were just released in america in any form that would be pretty awesome. this Rockin Android company seems like theyve got their head on straight, from their website and the list of games theyve localized so far, so heres to hoping!
Doesn't really say when, but last time, they updated the store really fucking early. Whether they'll do that or wait (Now that the store updates on different days for different regions), I don't know. What I -do- know is that they seem to want to give us E3 videos ASAP.
As per usual, we will have regular PSN Tuesday publish – including Final Fantasy IX – look out for Grace’s post tomorrow.
On Wednesday and Thursday we’ll be loading the Store up with the latest and videos and content straight from the show floor. Here’s a small preview of what we’ll be offering up on those days:
* Sony E3 Press Conference Videos
* Pulse Part 1 & 2
* E3 Sony booth ‘Sizzle’ Videos
* DC Universe Online Trailer
* Gran Turismo 5 Trailers
* PlayStation Move Game Trailers
* Hot Shots Tennis Get a Grip Demo
* God of War Ghost of Sparta Trailer
* Call of Duty Black Ops Trailer
* Mafia II Trailer
* Transformers: War For Cybertron Trailers
* Fallout: New Vegas Trailer
* Crysis 2: ‘The Pinger’ Trailer
* Dead Space 2 Trailer
I'm sure there's a PSP thread around here but what the hell I'll ask here, would it be wise to just keep the charger in the PSPgo while you play it? Even if it's fully charged? I rarely take the PSPgo out of my place and I just don't want to keep having to recharge it.

Not interested in the game unless they have a "stop bullshit cheating AI" patch.

Wouldn't be surprised if it is some backend prep for something they announce at E3.

Tales of Monkey Island's coming to the US PSN on the 15th as well, so it looks like it'll be a pretty awesome day for you guys.
Here's to hoping SCEE have a similarly awesome lineup.
