So my lady and I are trying to think of what to get two couples that we're really good friends with. We all like to drink and everything so we were thinking something along those lines, but anything else would be awesome too.

One has been together for almost 3 years and the other about 6 months.

Do either enjoy cooking? Cause my wife and I love a lot of the food stuff at Williams Sonoma, and it can easily be something both enjoy.

In terms of something along the lines of alcohol, I'm a big fan of making Skittles Vodka.

Oh my God, Skittlebrau is real! Almost. I had no idea.

Games for two are always a good choice, at least if they're gigantic geeks like my wife and I.

Well both guys of the coupledom are gamers like myself, but the ladies in all three parties are the (ugh. videogames...)-type because they take us (the guys) away from them. But they're all down for party games and such.

Board games! Something that'll support the appropriate number of people, like Apples to Apples, Carcasonne, Settlers of Catan, and so on. Well balanced, interesting games can really bring a group of people together, especially if the barrier to entry is low.

This. Or if they like a specific wine (and wine stoppers!), import beer, cheesecake, etc. I tend to go with gift baskets including one of the above, some nice cheese and chocolate, things like that.

    Skittles? And vodka? Together?

Doesn't this create some kind of black hole of Awesomeness if you try it?

Also, gift certificates for dates are good. Find out if a band they like is playing nearby, or a museum or club or restaurant they like, something like that. Giving people an excuse to go out on a date is always appreciated.
