[chemist] Please, let's not try to understand how the acid works in the Alien universe. It's super inconsistent and not realistic in the least.[/chemist]

That said, it's completely plausible that an acid (take sulfuric acid for example), which is both a strong acid and a strong oxidizing agent, would react strongly (let's say both kinetically fast and energetically preferential) with both organic matter and inorganic matter.

It's also completely plausible to construct materials that are not dissolved by said acid. Gold for example, isn't dissolved by sulfuric acid, hydrocholoric acid, or nitric acid. You have to combine HCl and H2SO4 for gold to dissolve - but even that isn't strong enough to dissolve titanium.

It all depends on the redox potentials really.

Oh, and I'm super stoked about this. Looks like I might have to put ME2 off until summer. I'm looking for a new twitchy fps, and I loved me some AvP and AvP2 multiplayer.

Fingers crossed for everything I ever hoped for.

Anybody know the gametypes for multiplayer yet? I hear a lot about survivor, but one of my favorite gametypes was where a team of marines fights against a lone alien, and every marine the alien kills spawns again as another alien. It was in AVP2 and it was the bees knees.

That was my favorite, as you can probably tell.

Infestation is in, then you have Deathmatch, racial deathmatch and the one where the one person is a predator and has to hunt down people, killing one gives him more time and whoever kills the predator swaps out.

Anything that has sugar and acid in it will eventually dissolve something. To the best of my knowledge no one has ever tested how long it would actually take for coke to dissolve a nail (or a tooth), but it sure as hell isn't something that's measured in days. I honestly can't comprehend of people still believing that coke can fully dissolve a nail in four days. It doesn't fit with even the most outlandish interpretation of common sense. If you put a nail in a glass of coke, after four days you will have A. A nail B. A shamefully wasted glass of coke.

I tried this way long ago when I was in Elementary school, guess what? The nail was still there! I even left it in there for like a month, and no dice.

edit: If Coke could eat away a nail in 4 days or so, wouldn't they have a problem with it eating it's way out of the cans and bottles it comes in?

Yeah the vid is nice, seeing the predator hop around and that one scene from the POV of fallen marine as the Predator re-materializes standing over him was neat.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

Good to see the game is beginning to shape up nicely. I had my doubts, but the stuff they are showing seems solid. Hopefully there won't be any glaring deficiencies when it ships. Barring any hare-brained design flaws, this will be a day one buy.

Is there like an escape mode? Essentially the second movie? A group of marines trying to get to a safepoint while aliens attempt to make babies in them?

    Cause that would be cool.

Or splitscreen? I think I could get the girl to give this one a shot.

Survivor may kinda have that, from a description i read

    "SURVIVOR:
For the ultimate test of stamina, play Survivor Mode. Survivor allows for up to four players to enter an arena to fight waves of progressively stronger aliens. Each arena will be set up with two main areas. One will be a platform which is relatively easy to defend; the other will be an area where ambush by aliens is more likely. Supplies of health and ammo will re-spawn in this second area."

Heading back and forth to get the ammo, while kinda self contained, may give you the feeling of retreating.

Splitscreen i'm not sure of though.

Yea, I was kinda hoping for a sorta objective focused mode, where each race had an objective. An example would be on one mission the Marines would be trying to escape alive, while a small group of predators attempt to kill the Alien hive, and the aliens attempt to kill the marines and predators. They could have reduced to to just two teams for each mission, if 3 would have been too hard to do too.
