Also, is the replica face hugger totally worth the extra $50? My heart says it's right but my wallet says it's not.
PS3 player here, but I already have you added on the PSN. Hopefully we'll have as much fun with this online as we did with KZ2, without all the "my PS3 just YLOD'd on me!"

Alright, hell with it, I'm gonna make the Steam group. Who wants invites?
EDIT: And we need an icon.

No records were found. Here, everyone do a search for the "Wangland-Yutani" group. I'll open up the chat room. Duck in for an invite. Once we get a critical mass of members, it should be fine.
...not that I was gonna lay down money for it before release, you understand. I remain unconvinced of the quality of this game so I'm gonna wait for reviews to start coming out
But it would have been really nice to have the option of buying the collector's edition that those console silly gooses get
I know you got infracted for your opinion, but I kinda feel the same way, I really want to get this game on PC and REALLY want that facehugger. Man PC users have been getting nailed on special editions the last year or so...
It may be because of piracy issues on PC. I think devs are more inclined to support console special editions, because of the relatively small piracy numbers on console.
MW2 was pirated all to hell on PC, if I remember correctly.
Edit: I want the graphic novel, the facehugger not so much. I'm giving serious thought to whether to drop the extra dough in this economy.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

But you can't pirate a facehugger or any of the other special edition stuff. Surely thats more of an incentive on the PC version.
Look at it this way, why spend the extra money to produce a special edition on a platform that loses a great amount of retail sales to piracy?
Sure you can't pirate a facehugger, but you'll certainly sell less facehugger packages if more people just download the game without paying for it.

But the game is out on the PC, just not the collectors edition. So the piracy argument is moot - piracy is going to happen.
And its not like special editions are a gift to the gaming populace - they make money on them, they're not spending money on it for the hell of it.
I'm honestly just trying to present a theory as why there are less special editions on the platform. You have a point as well, but I'm just theorizing here.
Perhaps special editions with extra feelies like facehuggers or comic books aren't a bigger sell because PC games don't command the same amount of shelf space as regular console releases at retail? Also, I remember reading some articles about how weird box shapes and sizes for PC games contributed to the lessening of sales for the platform some years ago.

The only two PC games I have boxes for are two games which came free with hardware purchases. Everything else is digital download. Even if AvP did offer the collector's edition for the PC, I really have no desire to drop 100 bucks on some cheap pieces of plastic. There is plenty of Alien/Predator merchandise out there which is much higher quality.
However, I'm super-pissed that the European collector's of Call of Pripyat has items which are fully 800 times better than the US version. Stalker bandana and lighter versus a map and stickers? That's so unfair it's cruel.
If you want an invite to the Steam group, drop in the group chat room. I can't seem to invite people any other method, and until we get a good critical mass of members we'll have this sort of bottleneck.
Wangland-Yutani is the group name, the chat is open, stop on by. I'll just leave the chat open while doing other things for the next many hours.
EDIT: Also the group is now public. I was worried that it'd get flooded by randoms, but what are the chances of that?

How many folks are getting this for the 360? If i got this it'd mainly be for the multiplayer and I'm just wondering if there's going to be a wee PA community for it.

I'm getting it on the PS3, since the majority of my friends own PS3s, and will be more inclined to get it for that even if some of us have a PC that can play it. Such is life.
In response to whoever wanted to get the Predator howling option, in the older games you always had the option to do a howl by taking a trophy. The Predator would automatically trumpet his victory to all within earshot when you took a head. And AvP "Classic 2000" has taunts, even for the Marine. I'd be surprised if all 3 races didn't have something similar in this game.

Not sure if this is a New Zealand/Europe (judging by the PEGI rating on the disc/boxart) exclusive or something, but...
