I've been playing online strictly Blanka lately. He's pretty badass except for his retarded supers and ultras. Also I kicked my roomates ass today 11 fights in a row with Geif. I got good with his slams.

blanka's ultra is fantastic, in that if you do it close to someone, there is nothing they can do to escape

either they will take massive block damage, or they will try to get away, fail, and eat the full damage

Or most characters will reversal it... :D

I play a pretty decent Sakura and I'll be the first to say that every fight is an uphill battle and a half. She is such a fun character that it kinda makes up for the fact that if you make a mistake or two, you're more than likely going to be behind. I've gone to two tournaments and mine got stomped because I whiffed an uppercut or missed a link. Its a tough situation to be in, but when you win, or perfect someone using your resets and mix ups, there isn't a better feeling.

Sabre is one of the best Sakura players in the states and is a local player, granted there aren't many of them, but he's decided to work on Ryu for those battles he just can't win.

Maybe something will change in SSF4, but I know that I will most likely be switching to Cody. Let's hope he is a bit better and more well rounded than Sak. I have a niche for picking poor characters, Guile and Sak specifically.

I dunno if sak is worse than rose. If she is, there's certainly not a whole lot of "suck" between the two. Dan/Vega are probably worse than Rose though :[

Teleports... reversal ultras (depending on the ultra/timing... obviously something like Gief can't and a few others with inferior invincibility frames, etc... chun will go right through Blanka but recover later, I think Dhalsim will eat a hit or two of the ultra but his ultra will interrupt Blanka's...) Moves with significant invul frames are likely to avoid it too. I think if Ken EX SRK's he'll simply pass through it and be far enough away that even if you held the spin, he wouldn't land on it. Gouken can simply counter-attack.

After a knockdown, though, it is possible to space an ultra so that they have to block.

That one's only slightly harder than it looks; just a matter of practice. I would pretty much dare Blankas to try to chip point-blank with that ultra because I knew I could knock them out of it nearly at will.

In that case, I'd just hope I have EX meter because if they bring it down timed so I have to stand up into it, I'd prefer to EX Shououken. Or ultra if I've got that. If neither, yeah, gotta block.

Its spaced/timed so that it crosses you up on wakeup, so Shououken and Ultra would go in the wrong direction, and you would possibly still get hit Blanka's ultra (depending on how many frames of invulnerability you have

I had a little issue pop up with my Madcatz TE fightstick. I was in mid battle and all of a sudden my lower row buttons would no longer register (X, O, R2, L2). They seem to work when I'm in the PS crossbar and selecting something but once I get in the game, nothing. So, to troubleshoot a bit I found out that when I turn turbo on the L2 button registers right away and keeps blinking and if I'm in game will keep on registering it as if it is being pressed even though I haven't touched it. I'm wondering if anyone here has encountered something similar and might know what is up with my fightstick.

It would go in the wrong direction, yeah, but Blanka is completely vulnerable as soon as he reaches the apex of his initial bounce, while Sakura has invulnerability for 13 frames after getting up. Either they whiff each other in opposite directions due to the horizontal speed of her DP (in which case trading 1 EX stock for emptying Blanka's ultra meter isn't too bad of a trade), or Blanka is EX'd out of the ultra, depending on which side he came down on for crossup ambiguity.

Its not the parry system that should intimidate you in 3S, its the speed. You have no idea how fast 3S is when you're watching videos of high level play. If anyone ever wants to go a few rounds using 2DFighter though, I'm always game.

Just had an amazing/lucky win over a Sagat in championchip mode.

Playing as Blanka, I have Sagat down to around a hit or two left and knock him down in the corner. I use my ultra hoping to either chip him to death or land behind him and cross him up for the last hit. Unfortunately, I was just a bit late with my ultra and Sagat pulls off his ultra right on wake up. I was sure it was over.

My ultra hit anyway, which I don't understand, but will take. Beating a Sagat always feels good.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

That just means you started it really late, less than .22 seconds before Sagat started his reversal. Blanka's ultra has 27 invulnerable frames. Tiger Destruction, only 13.

Well, in what may have been a foolish purchase I picked up a MadCatz SE SFIV (360) stick at gamestop, as a nearby store had one in stock, which has been really rare around here (NC).

I say perhaps foolish because I play on PC and don't really plan on getting a 360, so if CapCom screw's us PC players over and doesn't release SSFIV on PC, I'm boned. Oh well, I still have hope that if that doesn't happen either the PC SFIV community will hold together or I'll be able to scrape up enough $ to grab a 360 down the line.

Anyways, I should stop worrying about that and enjoy the stick I suppose. I really do like it, it makes the game massively more enjoyable. I know I'll never be good at this game, and spending like 90$ on a game + controller that only works for that one game makes me feel utterly stupid. But damn if it isn't fucking fun! I feel like I have so much finer control with this thing.

I'll make a real effort to actually play more, and get involved here.

You will probably want to replace the buttons/stick. I had like 2-3 buttons die on me within 3-4 weeks of owning that thing. I think it ends up costing like 25$ but you can get 8 new Sanwa buttons (you could even get 6 I guess) and a Sanwa stick and aside from the footprint you'll basically have a TE. The stock madcatz buttons/stick on the SE are pretty awful.

Perhaps, but honestly I have no desire to spend anything more on this, 70$ felt really excessive to spend on just one game as it it. Even as 'terrible' as the SE stick might seem to experienced players, it's fantastic to me. Especially when compared to using the 360 controller's analog stick (can't stand it's dpad).

I do hope it isn't as fragile as you say however...sigh.
