Play hardcore. It is much easier to kill people through walls even without FMJ. I use a silenced m16 (no stopping power or FMJ) and I've killed quite a few people through walls.
Awesome, I'll give it a shot. :^:
If I see / hear someone firing out of a window and I can't see them I just kind of spam the wall where I think they will be at. This may not work as well with the FAL but you might want to go FMJ/silencer so people can't find you while you are spamming a wall.
Also make sure you do cold blooded and ninja or you will get raped in HC. Also you might want to switch your kill streaks to add the UAV back in since it is EXTREMELY helpful in this game mode.
I respectfully disagree. I play HCTDM almost exclusively and rarely see people using UAV's. I get a lot of mileage from ninja, but rarely use cold blooded due to the fact that no one really uses UAV's. Every once in a while someone will call in a UAV and you rarely see people on the map.
If all it evaluates is wins and losses, then it's even more worthless than I thought. Wins and losses is a completely irrelevant measure of skill in a team game where you are matched with random people.
Not with a large enough sample, no. Yes, it's a terrible way to quickly evaluate, but after a few hundred games in which the pool is constantly randomly matching, and the system is judging each player's skill, you can gather quite a bit of data.
I have issues with the accuracy rating boards on XBL. The top of the chart is just full of a bunch of jackasses who logged in, scored one hit and never played again. They should make it so you have to have at least 100 shots fired to be tracked on the chart.
Honestly, I think the accuracy leaderboards are more useful for just comparing with your friends anyway. It doesn't account for all sorts of things. For instance, my girlfriend generally uses sniper rifles, and will only take a few dozen shots a game. I often play with an LMG and will spray a few dozen shots every time I open fire. It's evaluating how often you hit with every single bullet, rather than something like how often you gain a kill per magazine of ammunition or something. This makes it more of a fun little bit of information to think about between matches/mock your spray and pray buddy with than some sort of e-peen measurement.

UAV is extremely helpful not because it will show you people all over the map, but because it enables the map in the first place. There's less reason to silence a weapon in hardcore, because the map is not enabled by default and you won't be giving away your position as much. Having the UAV turn the map on also lets you find people when they fire non-silenced weapons.

Especially considering I'm forced to leave a ton of matches due to lag, friends disconnecting, or being invited to a game. I don't ever expect my win/loss ratio to be positive.

yeah, i bet at least 50% of my losses can be attributed to: "Oh shit we lost ______, let's back out so they can play too!"
I think on average, of the games that I play until the end, for every 10 wins I probably only get 2 losses, but my barracks page gives me opposite stat.

Anyone else had trouble logging into multi player on the 360? I can log on and play just fine with my brothers account with the exact same 360 on the same internet connection, but the instant i try to get in it gets stuck "Updating Rank and Unlocks".
I have only one major gripe with the game. Why do team kills actually count as deaths? And why the hell is it factored into your overall k/d ratio? Jesus H Christ that sucks. Some guys come in, start tking everyone on the team, and you just have to take it. And if you back out of the game early its an automatic loss. WTF?
Why not just use the system from [email protected]? Three tks and your kicked. Simple. Even when its not on purpose it forces you to be a bit more careful if your serious about playing and not just some jerk off trying to grief.

There's apparently an issue with the XBL database according to FourZeroTwo's twitter page. It's loading outdated stats. I wouldn't suggest playing until they fix it. If you do manage to get logged in and play a game, it will overwrite your current information.
That has probably been asked and answered, but how is the split-screen co-op portion of this game? Fun, runs smooth? I'll probably get this at some point on the 360 cause my brother has it and will be playing it nonstop on Live until MW3 (pretty much what he did with MW1 until 2 came out, with a break for L4D). Besides a short story mode, and the occasional time when I'll play online with my brother, I'd like to go through the co-op mode with my wife.
How is this thread not one long rant about the javelin exploit? It's re freaking diculous. And I'm only upset about it because I'm not high enough level to use it.

What IS the Javelin exploit? I haven't really noticed anyone using the Javelin since a couple weeks ago when people first really unlocked it. But I haven't played in the past couple of days. Or is it just something folks don't do on Live?

They do it on Live. In fact, it was first discovered on the 360!
That's... not as bad as I feared. I mean, I usually wind up sneaking around places you have to climb ladders to get to anyhow, and I'll just make sure not to kill any retard running around with a javelin not trying to kill anyone unless he's far away.
Thanks Zen, definitely not as bad as I would have thought. Hell, theirs an achievement for having a grenade go off in your hand and taking someone with you.

Pick a strongpoint. Approach it and determine if it's occupied by throwing in stun grenades. If so, clear it out with 40's and the AT4. Run in there and plant claymores around the entrances (scavenging refills from the corpses). Reload and start shooting anyone you see with rockets and grenades. Did this on estate and got 12 kills in like 3 minutes from the bedroom of the house. Granted, 5 of them were from one guy who could not figure out how to get past my claymore, but still.
I just tried it with the basic rocket launcher, and it works. It may have been funny to watch 3 guys eat it after shooting me at close range but it's definitely a game breaker.
Apparently it's getting fixed:
@mike_bunnell a bug. Already have the coder responsible for the javelin writting a fix that will be included in the first title update
I assume this first title update will fix the rock glitch in Afghan along with the Infinite Air drops, plus the fact that the Pave Low is glitchy as hell in multiple ways.
Just unlocked the ACR a couple levels ago. Goddamn is that a good gun. Reminds me of the G36C from MW1. Been cleaning up HCTDM with the following build (very similar to the FAL one above):
ACR w/ heartbeat sensor and silencer
G18 w/ red dot and silencer
Semtex, stun grenade
Bling Pro/Cold-Blooded Pro/Ninja Pro
My only issue with the ACR is damage. With the SCAR and TAR I don't need to worry about damage, but I'm reluctant to remove the perk with the ACR.
I can't wait to get the AK again. I pick it up every chance I get.

I'm still not sure whether I should use Cold Blooded or Stopping Power with the SCAR. I don't die all that often to killstreak rewards but I suppose it's hard to measure how badly being on the radar screws me.

I hate not having Cold Blooded now. At first I was a big Stopping Power, or Lightweight guy... but after getting Cold Blooded, I honestly feel like I die exponentially more without it.

I may just mess around with it for a bit and see how I do.
When did this issue start? Was there any stat rollback or anything necessary?
What are we back in business for? What issue?
Last night I glitched. Didn't mean to. Was on the Sub Base. They were capping... A maybe? Outside of A is a little walk way on the second floor that overlooks a door going into the A building. I accidentally planted a claymore at the overlook with the lasers pointing towards the door. Some guy runs by me, sets it, it blows up, and kills us both.
Basically you can hide "inside" a rock and fire out of it.
That's crazy-thanks for posting the video. I'm amazed that things like that actually get found.

All this talk of glitches is making me very depressed. I had so much fun last night, my first night of serious MW2 MP....and now the glitches are starting *sighs*. Taking bets on the over/under for how long IW takes to fix this stuff. I'm guessing three months, by which time the MP will have been basically killed off because of all the cheaters.
Oh this is exciting, an infinite air drop glitch. Did IW even do any fucking play testing?
I'll bite, how does this one work? I promise not to use it because i was on the receiving end of the javelin glitch last night and Fuck. That. Noise.
Just googled it.
It's fairly easy to see how IW could have missed this in testing the game, because its 10 steps long and you need tactical insertion and a airdrop in the first place. So basically, eventually one of the millions of players eventually figured out a glitch that gives infinite airdrops, sort of, assuming you can call in infinite amounts without getting your ass blasted to next year. Every fucking game has some sort of glitch that fucking sucks, so stop blaming IW for not doing their job and just hope they fix it instead. IW takes away dedicated servers and suddenly they're Hitlerites where two years ago they were gods.
Also the air package speed glitch.
And the Javelin suicide glitch.
And the various terrain glitches.
And not having any ability to kick hackers.
People have plenty of reasons to be annoyed by certain aspects of MW2 that have nothing to do with dedicated servers. Get over it.

Ooo ooo did you know that with Danger Close on the effective range is about three times that of a Commando Knifer?
Because I would chase around a care package knifer with my Javelin just so I'd blow him up
They do it on Live. In fact, it was first discovered on the 360!
Select Javelin
Prime semtex/claymore
Switch back to Javelin
Congratulations! You are now a walking bomb. Just don't climb any ladders or climb over any obstacles
The explosion radius is about the size of a block
It's very, very easy to run up to an enemy team on domination and kill the entire team trying to cap a point
