Make a file autoexec.cfg in the same folder and put your commands there.
Oddly enough some reported here it doesn't work for them, but it works fine here. config.cfg also resets everytime I boot it up. Could be related to steam cloud, though it's off here.
I've joined a few games recently where there seems to have been a "leader" on each team who I guess is in charge of what everyone else does. What's with that? I never saw it in L4D1. It's really pretty fucking annoying.
Agree.
For all I say about the need for someone to take charge in scavenge - which is true - have an appropriative ass on your team in vs is about as appealing as taking a cheesegrater to the testicals.
I think because there are more specials, there are more tactics, so whilst you had designated duties in the prior game, this one is more amorphous and there are greater tactical combinations.
So people feel the need to construct attacks through voice.
Some people are good at this. Some people are cunts.
edit: the one thing I will whine about if I'm having a particularly hard time of it is if people aren't covering me when I spend the entire match covering them. It's pretty annoying when you save person after person with a quick kill on the smoker or hunter, not to mention commons, only to find yourself snuck up on by every zombie on the map because people aren't returning the favour.

Autoexec worked for me, yay! Thanks.

So apparently friendly fire is off when you are down on the ground with your pistol/magnum as demonstrated when we all tried to kill each other in the safe room on expert. Can anyone else confirm this?
Correct. Lets you cover the guy picking you up from all directions by shooting through them.

Yep this is the worst. I haul my ass back and forth, jumping over tables and off rooftops to help teammates yet I get left behind whenever something grabs me.

This is especially apparent in the matches I've been playing lately. I got rather good in L4D1 at just single shotting zombies with a shotgun or killing large hordes quickly with small burst fires. As a consequence, I get a lot of thanks for the cover I give. However, what's becoming appallingly apparent is peoples tendency to go "OH SHIT ZOMBIES" and hold down the trigger and not let go. I don't think people understand that accuracy matters in this game.
It's particularly bad when people come charging from a long distance, firing the entire time with a shotgun at a damned Jockey. So, what happens is they run up to me stand there for a second or two reloading, fire one shot, reload, fire one shot, reload and by the time the jockeys down we're both now incapped in Spitter Goo.
Basically, damn peoples lack of cover and especially their lack of covering tactics.

My pet peeve is people running up to someone being pounced/jockeyed/smokered shooting and then NOT MELEEING while they're right next to the guy, instead continuing to try and shoot or reload or wtfever else they're thinking about.

It always makes me angry when I realize I AM that guy sometimes, but damn it, my crosshairs are right on him, he should be dead...

I just switch to my melee weapon if close enough. That will sort out anything and the only infected I have trouble hitting is the Jockey.
I don't think i've ever straight fought with someone over voice chat in this game or the first. This talk just makes me think about the amount of dudes who I might have raged off and never knew it.

I'll do that if I happen to have a shotgun, only once I'm close enough I'll whack them off with a melee strike or a knockback. Sometimes I get lucky with the pellet spread and kill the jockey before I get close enough to knock him off, but otherwise it's nice to do a little extra damage while hoofing it over for a rescue.
I'm usually packing the desert rifle though, in which case I'll try to snipe the little bastard off if they're a significant distance away.

yeah I have a pretty high rate of success doing what you describe using the combat shotgun with the tighter spread. Obviously if the person is 40 feet away I don't try it but 15 or so will usually get the jockey off dead after 3 or 4 shells quicker than if i had ran over.
I am pretty sure the answer to this is no, but are there any comprehensive stats for the 360 version of the game (as in, associated with gamertags)? Perhaps somewhere online? It's frustrating not being able to be aware of long term trends. I feel like every other FPS has stats you can look up (or really, MW2).
Are the points Infected get in VS not exactly matched up to the damage they do in combat? Several times now I've seen the little hit counter on the left of the screen ding off a few times, then I tab to check the scores and nothing has changed.

I've never understood the individual infected scoring system, but I think the tie-breaker works off of total health lost by the survivors.

Nah.
The people who do it most are the people who aren't any good at the game. Most of the people I play with, yourself included, are pretty alright at gaming in general and so they're fine.

Largely, yes.
Stuff like spitter damage does incremental scoring so if you only get a couple of hits you probably haven't earned a full point.
i got L4D2 yesterday (for xbox 360) and the multiplayer just doesnt seem to work, keeps saying it cant find any games. anyone else having this problem?

Get the laser sight and it's accurate on the move as the hunting rifle.
That said, when it's not available, I usually do prefer the HR. It's more accurate whilst moving, and whilst it's got half the ammo capacity, the reload's not too long.

I was messing around with commands and was using the SG-552 with laser sights. Standard fire feels like the stopping power of the AK but you keep the accuracy of the M16. The zoom doesn't give you tunnel vision from scoping in and it slows down the firing rate to what feels like a fourth of standard fire which makes it a lot easier to tap long range headshots than any of the standard guns.

Also there is a big difference between making suggestions, "Let's wait to hit them on the roofs" and people thinking they are General MacArthur and ordering their teammates around, "You! Get on the roof. Why aren't you on the roof? GOD DAMN IT YOU'RE RUINING THE GAME. Blarghaglahaglahgalhgal" I've played with a few random people from Armadeaddon that are like this and it pretty much sucks all the fun out of the game and is infuriating because they're pretty much always bad at the game.
If i'm not in armadeaddon i'm either working or sleeping. There's generally games kicking off every evening.
Oh about the microphone thing, i hate playing with quiet people, especially in realism mode. They never speak up "oh i've been huntered, around the caravan!" and nor do they type it either.
But yes, you also get dicks who mouth of and rage at people.

Check Armadeaddon too, lots of people use that chat room to start games.
There are always people in the Armadeaddon group.
Unless you're on the filthy Xbox.
