Hm. Maybe this will work. Asking for invite to Steam group... Asked in chat but no one seemed to be around who was able to accommodate me.
Perhaps someone can invite me if I ask here though.
So, yeah. I'm very interested in killing some zombies and would like to do so with the cool kids. 8-) Steam name is 'milath' also.
Sorry for the delayed response (family christmas gatherings and all that), I'm hoping another admin took care of you before I did, but I sent you an invite a few hours ago anyway.

I've been writing a lot of DnD as I have a break from my games. As such I haven't been wanting to play L4D2. I'll be keen to play more in the new year though and there is my "traditional" play X game until midnight habit as well.
Four of us did some pubstomping last night.
I forgot how much I missed it!
Personal highlights:
- Realising they were griefing and just killing themselves to become infected, we decided that, rather than stoop to their level and kill ourselves to get back at them, we'd play Race 4 Dead 2 and get to the safe room ASAP. Awesome fun.
- On the Swamp Fever campaign, there's a section when you run through some swamp land, move through a little corridor of bushes and land before emerging back in swamp land. I spawned as a Charger, carried one of them straight through to the other side of the corridor (Getting Long Distance Carrier at the same time). After the survivors recovered from the beasting we had just provided, they helped up the one that I'd carried, then went back the wrong way so we could do it all again!
Is it possible to make the Armadeaddon announcements publicly available? Everybody should be able to use them to announce games IMO. It's no more intrusive than receiving an invite, and people joined the group because they wanted to play L4D.

Because a lot of people aren't already annoyed by the amount of off-topic announcements they get spammed with? Letting anyone make them is an absolutely horrible idea.

great games
i really don't get those griefers, i mean if they wanted to played infected so bad why not just go do scavenge?
Maybe we should have another group then for opt-in invites? And kick people out who spam it.

@Zek: We already had a bunch of people leave the group because of the ammount of announcements we already make (they thought it was too many)... but you're more than welcome to make another group for all your annoucement needs Though, i'm not sure if there is any other way to do it then by making everyone admin. Also, I believe there is a 5 announcement limit- so you'll have to delete past announcements to make more. That one's just minor, but something to think about.
Also, I'm not sure why invites went back to admin only. No one even told me when that happened.
Oh, and thirdly, we did another couple melee runs last night. Here's the footage of the first one.
Well you guys abuse it with a bunch of stupid announcements. Maybe Events would work better.
Who's abused it and when? 99% of announcements are for games that need men.
Just looking at the last three announcements...
Merry Christmas!

Those weren't the last three announcements- just the last three that weren't deleted. You can only have 5 announcements at anyone time so we delete the game announcements to make sure there is always room for more game announcements.

Maybe he's mad that he never makes it in time to join said game? I dunno. At the start we may have done too many, but now I rarely see an announcement.
People are just sensitive to pop-ups?

Maybe you guys should make the chat on topic so it's useful for finding games.
So people should leave the chat even when they don't feel like playing a game?
We're people, not left 4 dead robots. It isn't as if our sole existance is to play l4d with you.
This is why we have the announcement option- to get games for you with people who are too lazy to hang around the chat for 5 min as a game gets started.
edit: in other words, many people come into the chat and say "games?" When no one replies, they leave. Yet, shortly after, someone else will come in and say "games?" If the first guy waitied 5 or so min, they would have met and been able to start the foundation of a game. But no, when someone doesn't get immediate gratification, they leave the chat (of 14 people, some already playing left 4 dead) upset that it didn't work out for them.

tl:dr Stay in chat! You will get games.
The off topic chat is the only reason people actually use it. Just look at other groups. I did a search for Penny Arcade groups and only one of them had people in chat. Guess which one. Plenty of games get started from the chat, just don't expect to jump in and instantly get one going.
Though, i'm not sure if there is any other way to do it then by making everyone admin.
Also, I believe there is a 5 announcement limit-
You can allow members by changing the group permissions.
There is no announcement limit, only the 5 latest will be shown on the group page. Announcements don't have to be deleted.
Huh, that's not what I was told... strangely, we do only have 5 announcements that haven't been deleted. Maybe the 5 announcement limit is just something Zac wanted.
Any UK peeps want to get some games going in the evenings this week and beyond? I'm officially sick of pubbies and their bullshit/uselessness.*

*For example, just encountered a survivor team in Versus who kept camping until we killed them. Obviously wanted to play as infected. Not that there's much you can do about that, but it wound me up when people did it in L4D1 as well.
Wow, such drama I miss when everything automatically unsubscribes! Ah well, when I get back in town I'm up for some melee games! Those were a ton of fun. Plus apparently my roommate is getting me a bunch of alcohols for christmas; such a good mix!

There's a joke in there somewhere but I think I'm too mature to go for it.
Maybe.

I assume this group wasn't created because the announcements were on topic and sparingly used.
And how many off topic announcements have you experianced in the last 4 months? Two?
And is wishing Merry Christmas to people on Christmas that terrible of a gesture?
edit: wait, apparently you're not in the group anymore. The first point doesn't really work then, does it...
Notice how large and thriving that community is. People are all in their chat starting games too! /sarcasm
Nearly everyone in that group is friends with each other. It's similar to the boycott group thing.
And seriously, do you want to be in a group that has Goomba as an admin? Seriously?
I clicked on 6 people and each of them is still member of Armadeaddon.
How bad they must find it.
