Not....familiar with that. Other than the area in Boston, that is.

I'm poor, so I'm being all ghetto by drinking 40's of King Cobra. Its just about the worst thing to put in your body, aside from rat poison.

I consider myself lucky to be both poor, and without the ability to smell/taste. It makes it so much easier to consume this lowest of the low quality, chemical laden, liquid bullshit. I dunno what I'd so without it.

I hate to get into one of these ruts, but my life is severely lacking in things. I have one passion, and it's a great one, but when I'm not doing it I have nothing else I want to do.

I was thinking about vodka gimlets later this evening. Right now it's just a nice easy scotch. My scotch collection is a lot smaller than it was recently. I did have a bottle of glenlivet, glenfiddich, glenmorangie, Macallan, Higland Park, and a Bushmills 16 year old.

Now I just have a new bottle of Highland Park and the bushmills 16. Oh, and a bottle of Glenmorangie 10 in my desk at work.

Hey Tam did you want something from me

    I just egosearched

You're a classical music guy, right?

I just wanted to ask you if you also thought that Mozart tended to be superficially theatrical sometimes. The Requiem isn't something I'd ever play on the passing of anyone I love, for instance

    Regarding Mozart,
I took a short course on the requiem as a musical structure, and I have to say that his requiem is goddamn amazing. It's true he didn't finish it himself, and had only left notes and sketches for what he was planning on doing. Overall I still thoroughly enjoy it. I also don't think "theatrical" is quite how I would describe him. I think in the context of the requiem, which is based off of the normal liturgy, things like the Dies Irae are supposed to be very 'fire and brimstone,' and that's exactly what Mozart conveys.

If you want an amazing, knock-over-the-congregation-with-its-power requiem, check out Verdi's Dies Irae.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pW1Uc-grcMs&feature=related

Fun fact, he did actually write this requiem for a friend who had died. He was quite upset about the death, and I think perhaps that comes across in the music in various ways: anger, for example, in the Dies Irae.

Also, Bach is cool but he's a completely different period. Mozart is a goddamn genius though.

    huh

    okay

but I'll have you know Bach was also a "goddamn genius", bear

just finished my roommate's last sam adams blackberry.

unfortunately very little is left her after last night. I'll probably be making a run later in the afternoon/evening.

Oh, the last minute beer run. How I do miss thee.
I sincerely miss easy access to liquor stores. I miss living in the city in general.

I worked at a liquor store a few blocks away from where I used to live for, like, ten months before getting fired/quitting. Dealing with drunks, and lifting 165lbs kegs was nothing compared to working for an alcoholic dipshit like my old boss. Even after that job, I was still only one block away from another, cheaper liquor store, whose employees I had either worked with at my old store, or had gone to college with.

Now the nearest liquor store is four miles from here, and across a highway. And I not only hate driving, but I'm uninsured.

Its so sad having to bum a ride from my grandmother just to pick up beer. That's not even taking into account how dangerously reckless she is behind the wheel. She's 74. I'd even ask my mum for a ride, but she "disagrees with alcohol" so she won't take me. She refuses to explain why, if there even is a reason, but expects me to understand somehow. Mind you this is coming from a woman who grew up during the 60's. She open admits to drinking and smoking pot then. Even drinking during the time she was in the service. Yet she has a thing against me drinking.

    It boggles the mind.

I don't ask for much. Procuring beer shouldn't ever be a hassle for anyone. At least in my opinion.

    Rant over.

So I tried looking at livestream. Just looking at the initial descriptions/instructions make me feel intimidated. It's sad that that's enough to do me in.

Despite it's bugs and frequent crashes, I'd probably rather use OC. Only I'm pretty sure OC is still PC only, and I don't have my Cintiq set up on my Windows partition. And switching over to the windows partition just to doodle online, using a buggy ass program seems like more trouble than its worth.

    Sad face....

I like to keep something from each region, I was thinking about picking up a Genrothes 85 that I found recently, the price is steep but they're fuggin hard to come by these days.

Oh, shit. I fucking love Hulu on occasion. They have the original Puppet Master available. The last time I saw the original was when i was like, seven or eight. Scared the shit out of me. Especially Blade, and Leech Lady.

No way in hell I could have realized it when I was that young, but this movie is like Paul Klee's worst nightmares come to life.

I can't help it. I'm such a hardcore Lovecraft fan. I like Gordon's films a lot, but I'm pretty sure its because its like one uber Lovecraft fan trying to relate to another. Based on skill, and technique, his films aren't great. Most of them barely qualify as good, or even passable at best. But I still love them.

Out of all the movie adaptions made of Lovecraft's literature, Stuart Gordon's films probably come the closest in accuracy. He takes liberties, sure, but I'd expect him and any other worth while director to do the same. I mean, its a monumental enough task to even try adapting a Lovecraft story to film alone. To try to do so 100% accurately, and still retain that Lovecraftian touch is near impossible.

I respect Gordon as a film maker, albeit not a great one, but more so as a diehard Lovecraft fan. All of his movies are love letters to a dead man, who has influenced him immeasurably. That's something I can really relate too.

Pffft....what a loser you are. You actually went out somewhere to drink?

Go out, buy a case of 40's, or a 30 rack of cheap ass beer. Go home, down a few, and then hop on to the forum.

You don't need to go out to a bar, and pay out your ass for overpriced beer you can easily get from a liquor store and to "socialize."

Yep, only one book but it's a corker. The Gone-Away World - Neal Stephenson meets Joseph Heller on LSD.

I also recently read The City and the City, which was very ... true-to-form Mieville, I guess, in spite of also being radically different from his New Crobuzon books.
