Alliance Engineer lies on the ground, bleeding, as he watches the Earth be consumed in flame.
"If only Shepard had collected enough...plutonium..."
The reapers are about to start culling the galaxy again.
The council convenes.
"The only thing that can save us now are the Matriarch Writings. When all are collected, they constitute a blueprint for constructing a biotic Mass Effect weapon to obliterate the Reapers."

I'd say the biggest problem about mineral harvesting in ME1 would be if it does, in fact, turn out to be important. Scouring interplanetary wastelands to find mineral deposits was pathetically silly. I mean, I guess it's one thing to go to random planets doing non-critical missions and such, but then also going out of your way to stake a claim for the greater glory of humanity?
Maybe ME2 can allow Shepard to land on Earth and visit Disney Universe from time to time...
The problem with Noveria more than anything is that it's a false dichotomy. There's no need to be making this decision at all, there is no urgency. Between this and the fact that Virmire/Feros Renegade options consist of just being a jackass for no reason, Mass Effect really didn't have particularly well done "big choices" I felt.
I killed the damn bugs for two reason.
#1 They were clearly driven to a genocidal war that lasted thousands of years and took the combined armies of every state in the galaxy to put down. The risk of their return is unacceptable.
#2 Anyone notice all those Cerberus black ops projects based around turning the Rachni into slave warriors? What is to prevent any other galactic power from doing the same thing?
Simply put, they're dangerous, whether they choose to be or not is irrelevant to Renegade Shep.
The issue here is that irrelevant of how one feels about the Rachni, there should be an option to say "Well since this situation is entirely under control and everyone in the facility is fucking dead, how about I call up the Council and let them sort through this rather than make an off the cuff decision that may or may not lead to genocide"
I mean, it's really entirely irrelevant to your mission.
Oh, the irony! The guy with the space marines logo cautioning us that maybe a policy of preemptive genocide isn't the best thing in the world.

Well, he has a point. You didn't have to make that decision on the spot. There was no pressure to it at all.

Who said anything about it not being the best thing in the world
Things that are completely unnecessary can be awesome.
If Ashley got the bum-ticket on Virmire then in Mass Effect 3 Subject Zero goes beserk because they're actually twins separated at birth who represent polar ends of the humanity morality spectrum.

The psychotic nutjob to space Nazi spectrum? I'd be interested to see how most people rate on that one.

I just naturally assumed that was the spectrum we all based our daily decisions on.
I keep on restarting my canon run to make my femshep look different. Even picked longer hair to somewhat alleviate the giraffe neck she always inevitably sports.
This lead to a daydream about everyone eating in the Normandy mess hall and my Shep just grazing on some leaves.
All this talk about canon runs remindes me I need to do mine (which shouldn't be too different from my first, except Shepard is going to be a colonist instead of an earthborn)
I just got to hurry though, cause I'm sending my 360 to Microsoft at the end of the week to get maintence, as it can't read off any disc for longer that 10-15 minutes before it freezes up... thank god it can install the game to the hard drive before that time is up.

Yeah. That happened to me. Your DVD drive is dying/dead, basically.

Completely irrelevant since you can change your appearance at the beginning of ME2. :P

I figured as much. Decided it was best to send it off now as the next game I'm looking foward to getting (this one) doesn't come out in over a month, rather than have it die completly when this game or whatever game I'm looking forward to is out.

It's not like playing a different game, of course, but it is... interesting.
On my third playthrough, I was all like "Light metals? Fuck this shit. Where's the next story planet?"
Now it's like "THE ALLIANCE NEEDS ALL THE METALS I CAN FIND SO THEY CAN PROSPER IN THE TWO YEARS UNTIL THE NEXT GAME".
It really sucks being retarded like me.
On the other hand, it's been quite liberating for me. I know that I can handily skip all of that side mission bullshit because it won't count.
I can do a clean and quick main story run, focusing on the important decisions and ignoring the rest.
WHAT IF.
WHAT IF.
"If only Shepard had collected enough...plutonium..."
That's kind of the thing. What you do, or don't do, counts. And what seems unimportant now could be the keystone of survival in ten years.
The reapers are about to start culling the galaxy again.

"The only thing that can save us now are the Matriarch Writings. When all are collected, they constitute a blueprint for constructing a biotic Mass Effect weapon to obliterate the Reapers."
And five Thresher Maw spleens...
Get on it!
So Mass Effect 3: Rise of Citizen Kane
The thought terrifies me.
It's the future so they will be Diamondillium Pantaloons.
Maybe ME2 can allow Shepard to land on Earth and visit Disney Universe from time to time...
"THE CLOCK IS TICKING"
*driving mako on a wasteland planet, searching for one of two or three rocks*
Wait, you punched out Manuel?
You fool, you just deactivated the Wrex-Garrus lovescene in Mass Effect 3!
Oh, the irony! The guy with the space marines logo cautioning us that maybe a policy of preemptive genocide isn't the best thing in the world.
If you weren't nice to Conrad then you won't have him, with his team of Conradalorians to pull your ass out of the fire in Mass Effect 3!
Who said anything about it not being the best thing in the world

Sadly you aren't one of them hohohoooo

Tycho, YOU are phone.
that's okay though, because ME3's twist is that Anderson is really just a gigantic Mass Relay
(It's a pretty bad twist.)
the Shepards will block out the sun
and Wrex will stare up the sky and utter
"Shepard."
and billions of voices will echo
"Wrex."
I just naturally assumed that was the spectrum we all based our daily decisions on.
oh my god
oh my god
i can see this

The twist in ME3 is that the entire saga was just the fever dream of Conrad Verner.

Is he actually dying in Vietnam?

Wrex for new council member in ME2.
