So if you're reading this thread, for whatever reason and you don't have Mass Effect yet. It's on sale at Direct2Drive for $5.

But only for the next 12 hours.

Oh my that was a good video. Kinda. I got a huge Star Wars vibe off of it and I don't know why, but it made me feel nervous.

Also cleavage what the fuck Bioware that is terrible armor design.

I don't really know what to think about the character herself, though. She'll do whatever you say, I guess? Sounds creepy.

Oh, that's what I think. She creeps me the hell out and will be staying away from my Shepard.

Well for one, he wears armor.

Which is generally more practical in a combat situation than cleavage.

Seriously, Bioware. One cleavage-exposing party member I can tolerate. Two is just pushing the line.

For some reason, I have the idea nagging at me that she will not be romance-able. Sure, with the dialogue her character is pretty much set up as Shepard's personal slave, but I have the feeling we will not get more than two (possibly three) female romances, again. SuZe already being one of them, I think the other would probably be Tali or Miranda.

Not to mention that Samara looks as if she is bordering on a Matriarch.

Here's what's interesting. We now have three characters who have obviously unconventional armour. Thane, SuZe, Samara.

That Casey Hudson interview talked about how armour is now made from different parts you put together in the armour locker screen.

I wonder if we're seeing the default clothes for these characters, and different armour parts go over the top of that?

I hope so. There's also the potential for party members to have locked armor, since apparently different armor sets will just have different bonuses, and there won't be the equipment gradation that there was in ME1.

At least I think that's what they said, when talking about the various pre-order bonus armors and the Collector's Armor.

Just to be clear, as I don't want to put words in the guy's mouth, I'll quote, but it definitely sounds that way:
We've made a bunch of improvements there, all in the spirit of preserving the original depth that we had, but just making it more intuitive in what you're actually doing. The main thing, in the first game, the inventory system was all in one screen, so you were trying to equip your team with weapons and armor and whatever other gear you [had]. You're also trying to then mod each of those types of equipment, and then you're also kind of going through lists of inventory and trying to juggle your inventory. All of that was in one screen, so, even though it had a lot of depth, I think a lot of people weren't able to access that full potential of what it was offering. What we've done is taken all of the functionality that was there, and we've moved it into separate activities. For example, we've got an armor locker, and in your armor locker, you can actually create a modular N7 armor out of pieces, so you go and buy these pieces in the store...there are a variety of ways that you can get them, and then you bring them back and, in your armor locker, you actually build them piece by piece and each piece kind of does a different behavior in terms of gameplay or combat. Whether it's enhancing your shields, armor, health, and accuracy, all of that kind of stuff. You can adjust every aspect of it, like how shiny the material is to all the different colors, you helmets, visors, all that stuff way deeper than we had before. Because it's in its own location, you actually have much greater control over what's going on.

Similarly for upgrades and modding your weapons and armor, that's done through research terminals. The research terminal, because it’s actually about going out and getting research projects, come back and either spending money or different kinds of resources on it, it becomes a whole activity chain, but it also means that potentially anything can be upgraded. There's a whole variety, whether it’s different kinds of ammo mod or modifications to weapons for accuracy or things that you can do to improve your armor, or even the ship itself has research projects that you can enhance the ship so, when you see it performing in certain key moments in the story, different things will happen as an outcome. It's a very open ended system.

I keep on restarting my canon run to make my femshep look different. Even picked longer hair to somewhat alleviate the giraffe neck she always inevitably sports.

This lead to a daydream about everyone eating in the Normandy mess hall and my Shep just grazing on some leaves.

Completely irrelevant since you can change your appearance at the beginning of ME2. :P

Not quite as irrelevant when you are sticking to that face for three playthroughs.

...yes, I know it's not necessary to get 60, but I have ally achievements and Insanity mode to unlock. Plus, I have a lot of time to kill for the next 2 months.

yeah, but then you got salarian scientist (mordin?) tali, thane is rumoured to be techy, etc.

so, only three spots left! i mean, we know about jacob and miranda, and kinda bout mordin, so that's really two spots. exciting

I think it's just a function of the characters revealed so far and the nature of cross-class stuff. For tech, for example, you can equally say Tali's a machinist, Mordin's a scientist, and Miranda's a Sentinel.

I think with 10 squad members, it's gonna be everything-heavy.

Biotics: Samara, SuZe, Jacob, Miranda, Thane
Tech: Tali, Mordin (probably), Miranda, Garrus?
Combat: Grunt, Jacob, Thane (probably), Garrus?

That being said, I'd guess we're done with the biotics users. It'd make sense if the final two were Garrus and maybe another combat character.
