Do kills in the Pinnacle Station sims count towards the weapon achievements? Because if so fuck doing a soldier playthrough, I'll just run Hunt with untrained guns until I get the achievements.
Yeah no I didn't even get the little choose dialog.
It was just like "BAM GUESS WHAT INTIMACY WITH ASHLEY IMMINENT"
Mike Shepard was not impressed with the scenario. I've never picked Liara before. It was going to be exciting.
e: Also seriously how many things does Garrus take, I've cleared the Citadel lockdown now and I still apparently haven't completed the majority of the game with him.
That Heavy Pistol from the Engy video looks fun. Powerful, deliberate shots? Yes. Not some space-uzi that's more powerful and almost as accurate as an assault rifle.

Stolen from GameFaqs uh..FAQ:
7. Character Based Achievements
===============================================================================
These achievements work the same as Completionist but are for your Allies
instead of Shepard. Like Completionist, your Allies will need to be in your
group for 45 Assignments and 15 Missions. See the Assignment lists up in the
Completionist section.
This is truth too, I got Liara's achievement after my 45th assignment.

Huh, I'm pretty sure I only did thirty-something assignments for Liara, the achievement unlocked when I ran into Conrad Verner on my way to Flux during the citadel lockdown and stuck a gun in his face.

C'monnnn leftover UNCs.
Sometimes I wonder if really what this represents is that the answers I thought for were always the ones I wanted are in fact not at all obvious if you approach things from a slightly different perspective.
I have 400 MS points left on my account. I have not bought Pinnacle Station yet.
I am about to play through Mass Effect once I finish dragon age, having not played for nine months. This will be my first male character so I can finally have conversations with Kaiden that aren't awkward.
Is PS just a straight up combat arena, with little to no plot? Is it done in a VR style, or is it the galaxy's best simulator of mass produced colony pods and containers?
edit: Also am I the only one who was disappointed by the lack of flavour in conversations relating to your class. It was especially obvious when at the beginning talking about biotics with the doctor and kaiden, whilst playing as an adept. Also she must have missed all of the briefings on alien life as every time she meets a new speicies its all "I'd LOVE to learn about your history and culture. Also why do you speak so strangely? Surely everybody speaks americanised english in space, unless they're evil. Or a doctor.
Any kind of explanation for what you need for ally achievements is complete nonsense. There is no pattern, no set amount per character, there is something random involved.
Such things as getting Tali's with 2 planets left to go while not getting Wrex's until the last battle. Liara's before Garrus', etc.
Now I got them before the DLCs, that should hopefully make things easier.

Pinnacle Station (in this dude's opinion) is pretty weak. The combat scenarios feel like a grind to me, and are more about tanking through enemies as quickly as possible than tactics. Using your biotics/tech attacks will cost you precious seconds that hinder your ability to complete the scenario.
You're going to need a decently leveled character, good armor, and spectre gear to succeed.
The award however is pretty great:
Once you complete the base set of scenarios, the commander of the station offers you one final scenario based on one of his prior battles. When you complete it, he gives you his off world home. You can "order" supplies from a passing frigate. If you pay a premium you can load up on Collosus and Predator armor pretty easily. It's still random, but if you're leveled high enough you'll get good stuff.
I'd personally save the points for whatever ME2 DLC will inevitably be coming down the pike.
EDIT: Does Tali even have Predator armor available? I've never found any for her.

OK, let's operate under the assumption that it's fine and healthy to be so obsessive about these things when considering this post. Done? Good.
I'm planning my builds now for characters which are going to carry over into ME2 (and eventually ME3). This means maxed levels, optimal skills, and all the relationships and other decisions fixed. So, to that end, I realised I need three builds. Two primary ones (Paragon/Renegade) and one secondary one (all the third options), and they are:
Amy Shepard: Female. Spacer/war hero, paragon decisions, maxed charm. Soldier (with singularity). Romances Liara, party of Liara and Tali.
Dick Shepard: Male. Earthborn/ruthless, renegade decisions, maxed intimidate. Adept (with shotguns). Romances Ashley, party of Ashley and Garrus.
[#3?] Shepard: Female. Colonist/sole survivor, third options, whatever c/i. Engineer (with assault rifles). Romances Kaiden, party of Kaiden and Wrex.
Is there anything else I need to consider? For everyone I'll max out grenades and medigel, etc etc. Have I missed anything?
well you'd need characters that are also the other 3 classes, just to be complete, so thats another 3 sheps right there, one can be no romance at all, and or one with no romance and no speech skills and utterly fails at life but somehow became a spectre, he is also bald and ugly as fuck, with extremely poor skill choices.
shit im going to make that shepard after my canon one, he will be called gimp shepard.
Do kills in the Pinnacle Station sims count towards the weapon achievements? Because if so fuck doing a soldier playthrough, I'll just run Hunt with untrained guns until I get the achievements.
oh most definitely
I think the various creatures, like the Eletania monkeys, the Eden Prime gasbags, or the duders on Virmire even count toward it. Don't count on untrained sniper rifle kills though; you can't hit the broad side of a barn with it untrained. It is completely useless.
The problem with guides and those achivements is that they all seem to give different numbers needed. Besides, I figure if a dev says he doesn't know, we probably don't know.
I applaud you for having the motivation to do that many canon runs for characters. I think I'm going to end ip using my vanguard and even that is a total chore just to get everything I can finish done. Three is nuts.
I haven't done too much digging into how sidequests will be in the second game but I hope they're less annoying than these ones.

Three is nuts, especially considering that that means more than one run each, as you can max your charm/persuade for free if you play through enough times, and only THEN do I intend to do my completionist runs.
I probably won't do them all one after the other though. My third-options run can probably wait until I've had plenty of time to play with ME2's plot a load with my other mains.
A kind-of-choice I'd like to see tracked is if you take Garrus or Wrex at all and at what point in the story you find Liara. This should have an effect on how they react when you meet them in ME2.

Along similar lines, I hope it tracks how much I used and talked to the various squad members. I'd like to have a nice reunion with Tali, but if I see Liara, I want it to be awkward as hell with me going, "Um, hey, Liara, I'd, um, ask you to come along, but you know, I already got a scientist and um, well, we're really busy, you know? But I promise we'll catch up later, ok?"

One of the side missions will be the Admiral calling you up whilst you're in deep space, when you arrive back in the citadel there will be Liara on the docking port holding a baby...

I really hope they get some good things out of Joker in ME2. Watching the Ilos drop just gave me warm fuzzy feelings inside, because he really is a damn good pilot.
e: Also after having my shotgun overheat and remembering what a pain in the ass it is in a fire fight, I heartily welcome heatsinks.
Pretty sure the game has to track the triggers for all quests, so if you gave Tali her info for pilgrimage it'll be tracked, same with Wrex armor and Garrus Doctor.
I doubt they track the fulfilled conversation options, though it is possible.
I want to eject a heatsink during a heated battle and watch it land on my foot and then watch my character dance around holding his foot saying "motherFUCKER!"
I fixed it so people are not horribly disappointed.
But let's be realistic, we know there's going to be some Turian ally in ME2; it'll just happen. The race is too popular for it not to happen.
e: Is it worth trying to do Hardcore with a fresh Engineer or should I just push with the guy I finished with (Level 48) and then come back and do a Normal run later for the Engineer achievements?
The plot decisions are vastly more important than anything else you will have in your file.
I mean, I just did a pass on how many places we check those, and there are a reasonable number. I can't say exactly how many, obviously, but I'd worry a lot more about what decisions you made than anything to do with level or the like. I mean, obviously we couldn't make 110 different games, but as an example - when we're testing the import process at work, we choose from a library of ME1 saves. Our tracking document doesn't tell you what all the decisions were in that file - just the big ones.
I got to a place in the game where I was expecting a particular encounter, and I never got it because that save game had made a different choice than I had in my ME1 playthrough. As a result, I missed out on probably about 40-50 lines of dialogue and a side plot.
So as we've always said - the focus on your ME1 playthrough should be more about the choices you make, and less about what level you are/difficulty you played through.

So now when I go to play ME2 again I first have to work my way through ME1 again to get a new set of initial plot conditions to work with. AWESOME.
I really don't get the gaming community sometimes. Why were the elevators such a big thing? And how the hell is a normal loading screen somehow better than hearing your team members banter while changing floors?
