I refuse to believe they didn't sneak a few of their own in there. There's no way some kid submitted Optic Man back then. Although it's neat to see where Inafune drew inspiration from (or just used lock stock and barrel) for some of the future robot masters from, I definetily saw a Crystal Man in there somewhere.

Actually I owned that issue many years ago, and yes all of those were actual submissions. D:

I still wish they had used Glue Man...he just seems pretty awesome.

I love how they make fun of Steam Man for being a new character that hijacked the design of Needle Man, when in fact Mega Man 9 had a RM that just took Needle Man's design and turned him into a fire character.

And as a side note: Magic Man and Clown Man...both totally showed up in later games, and I swear Magic Man looks just like that one. :P

I think my favorite's got to be Blade Man, if only because it makes the ingenious leap of taking a Wolverine expy to its next level by attaching a third set of blades to its forehead. Marvel ain't got nothin' on this kid.

Final Boss in 9 seems as tough as the one in seven, until you realize that

Half Damage guard works for all forms
Concrete shot absolutely wrecks the mouth area, and if you do the homing stamp part right you can kill him in one pass
Tornado Blow and Black Hole Bomb, if used correctly, can negate hits from Wily's final form.
You can also use hornets when he is too far away to hit and you are sure about your doging.
and Plug Ball is about eight million times easier to hit with than Wild Coil.

Learning the fight as a kid I lost to him with full tanks, and yes, I used them all.

Now I can do it somewhere in between no hits at all and two etanks.

Mega Man 7's Dr.Wily really wasn't that hard. In fact, if you know the right trick, he's easy as hell. Just use the Thunder Shot from Cloud Man as soon as he appears and he won't even toss the 4 little elemental spheres, just the ground electric attack. Thunder Shot doesn't hurt him, though, so as soon as you hit him with it, pause, select Freeze Cracker, and hit the bastard. Freeze Cracker can even hit diagonally.

EDIT: I'm not sure of that, but I think that Thunder Shot and Freeze Cracker are even just one L/R press from each other, so you don't need to pause all the time.

Really? Seems exactly like what I'd expect a kid to draw.

Crystal Man was MM5, which was covered in the same issue (along with 4 for the Game Boy) that contest was featured in. That contest's winners would go on to be in Mega Man 6.

I would love to just see Light working on X in the backround, or see the blueprints for him on Lights bench...or something.

Actually since Zero was created by Wily, how cool would it be to have this game's last boss be Wily, and when you defeat him, you have to fight Zero...who proceeds to kill you.

    Then MMX timeline begins. :D

It would be cool, but I think Inafune outright said that Zero isn't behind the 'Cataclysm' in an interview somewhere. Which is to bad, he's the obvious and most logical reason for it IMO.

Gitaroo Man is the only PS2 to PSP port in the storied history of them to actually control better on the PSP. The DS2 is too damn loose to make those squiggles easily. In fact, the only controller that would have been better for Gitaroo Man then that nub is an octo gate stick like on the Nintendo pads.

Back to Megaman. Looks like we're getting another ice level. We've had Ice, Blizzard, Freeze, Frost Man. I'm going with the simple but hilarious idea of Snow Man.
