I seem to get horrendous load times when heading down into the Deep Roads. Everything else has been fine so far but whenever I click on a location in the Roads it can take around 2 minutes to load up the location.
Kinda sucks.
Same here, I also got terrible loads all over Orzammar.
Must be all that magma.
Orzammar is a noted ripoff of Ironforge, right down to the lag :P
So I got home from thanksgiving today and decided on a whim to test unarmed combat on my dual weapon bard/assassin rogue.
...why is it hitting 2-3 times as hard as my sword / dagger combo?
How hard are we talking here? And how did you allocate your stats?
And in regards to the Dalish, if you return after finishing their quest and speak to the Elven Messanger...
He explains that he's going to visit the other Dalish Clans to rouse them to your cause, and that the Dalish have no organized army. That pretty much explains that they are not likely not a dying breed, but just live in seperate tribes.
You'd think an immortal leader would have a somewhat bigger tribe than like, 30 people though.
And you'd think Denerim's market square would have more than 20 people in it.
IT'S A VIDEO GAME
That's not exactly fair. Denerim's market square actually gives you the impression that it is much bigger then what you see. The Dalish camp on the other hand does not. In fact I think the Dalish clans are supposed to be real small anyway. They are a dying breed. Not dying as a race, just a way of life.
Not really. If you look at the map of Denerim, that's pretty much the whole thing.
It doesn't matter anyway, they're not going to go through the trouble of rendering big crowds of people that aren't important. This isn't Assassin's Creed.
There's cheaper and more effective ways, brah.
The marketplace isn't poorly done. It does kind of feel like just one area of a bigger place.
And if you look at the BG games, they create the illusion of space my simply adding audio tracks of indecipherable background conversation. Cheapest solution ever.

At this point in the game the character has:
22 str, 40 dex, 42 cunning (has lethality)
Normally wielding Austaurian's Might and Beastman's Dagger.
Regular backstabs were hitting in the 20-30 range, punch backstabs were hitting in the 55-65 range.
It may be that the rate of hitting is lower, but you punch pretty fast.

I think this might be caused by the fact that you likely didn't stack a lot of +backstab damage. On my female rogue, I'd pimped her out with a Rose's Thorn and a Crow Dagger, and some other random +backstab gear and +cunning accessories. She was dumping like 70-80 point backstabs, it was nasty. Though I guess it still doesn't explain why the fists are doing so much more damage - maybe fists have a high +str mutiplier? And since you have Lethality, sub Str for cun.

Well, I do think that only having one real zone in denerim makes things feel closed in. The difference between one 'common area' zone and two of them (even if the same content is spread between them) is pretty significant, imo.

The funny thing here is, Assassin's Creed actually looks better and has much larger levels, so Dragon Age would have greater resources to render big crowds of people.

I only stop now to go do laundry and post here that I think the game is fantastic, and to ask a question...
Do you ever find out more about Sven? No need to give away what you find out, but he seems very... disinterested in giving away information about where he came from, what he's doing, why he killed those people at the farm etc...

Wynne's sticking with the Senior Enchanter's robes so far...but is there anything better? I've tried giving her the Tevinter Mage Robes...but they're not very...senior.

Reaper's Vestments carried my mage through the end-game; you can purchase them at The Wonders of Thedas in Denerim.

I made a game! Hotline Maui. Requires mouse and keyboard.
I don't really see Reaper's Vestaments being worth the money. I mean, it's +6 Constitution and a bunch of defensive enhancements that you frankly shouldn't even need if you're keeping the heat off your spellcaster like you should.
They're not bad robes but they aren't comparitively powerful enough to warrant laying down 98g

Well, barring any +backstab from the weapons, you can in fact backstab with punches so it would presumably get multiplied through. There is +10% BS on the dagger in that setup, so even at that disadvantage punches seem to be blowing it away.

Why is there no way to see what your achievements are for in-game? I hate having them pop up and then having no clue what I just did to get that achievement.
The only worthwhile robes are morrigan's and you get them for free. I was severely dissapointed in that fact. Mages may as well run around naked... :winky:

On Xbox you can hit the center button while it's still on the screen to be taken to the achievement page with the newest one listed first.

So, questions about Morrigans quest:
Are there consequences to not fighting Flemeth? Also, Flemeth seems really, really hard. Should I be really high leveled before I attempt to fight her?

If you don't fight her, you won't get Robe of Possession, the best robe in the game for Morrigan.
And yea, she's a real tough bitch at lower levels. I tried it at 10 and couldn't survive at all. But at around 15 or 16, it should be quite easy.

You get it if you barter with Flemmeth. The only time you wouldn't get it is if you ignore the quest completely. But, no, nothing changes if you simply barter with her compared to fighting her.
Further testing seems to indicate unarmed just has a huge strength component, and that rogues are really good at multiplying that (respeccing to a minimum in dex/str and a huge amount of cunning with assassin/dualist made each punch hit for ~105-115, hilariously smacking down everything I tested it against).

Well, I'm not using Morrigan this run anyway. But that's a bit odd - I assume you also get a fair chunk of experience for defeating Flemeth? Does she drop a dragon/drake scale?

Anyone notice how some things (mattresses and the copy machines in Highrise) are totally impenetrable? A steel wall, yeah that makes sense, but bullets should obliterate copy machines.
I don't know about you, but I always buy a bullet proof printer. Its a lot more expensive, but I think the advantages are apparent.

Nope, no drake scale. Experience yes. I don't think you really get any good loot from her other then the Robes.
