I still find it hilarious that she feels unique for being a girl in the game biz. She isn't unique at all and there are actually women in the game biz that I do enjoy hearing on podcasts. Hell, Veronica Belmont was on This Week in Tech yesterday along with Jeff and she brought a lot of neat stuff to the show to talk about.

Whoa, Jeff Gerstman and Leo Laporte on the same podcast. I didn't think those two lived on the same planet.
Listing to the latest PC Gamer Podcast reminded me of why I could never be an exclusively-PC gamer. Their E3 report gave off such an impression of lapping up whatever table scraps get thrown to them. It was mostly a 90-minute MMO report. I mean, I play a lot of PC games, but their little self-contained world amuses me.
I remember listening to that for a month, and then realizing that holy shit podcasts devoted to one console are insular as fuck.
Think about what you are saying. It's pure sacrilege.
Brodeo. May peace be upon it.
Plus, they were the only 1up podcast that wasn't completely batshit insane fratboys with stupid fanboy prejudices
Retronauts?
This. Shane's Sony fanboyism could be a bit much at times but the podcast as a whole was - and still is - great, mostly because Jeremy Parrish is awesome.

Yeah, he was a bit better there, since Garnett (still) can't control the other people on his podcasts, but he still brought it down. I mean, when the freaking PC podcast is the only one of theirs which gave SMG a fair shake...
A Life Well Wasted had a good episode, remember to DL people.
Brodeo was the exception to the rule, because they would actually talk about how PC games related to the gaming culture as a whole. And they often were suuuuper self-deprecating in what they were doing with the magazine.

I actually finally listened to my backlog of Retronauts and I must say the quality goes up whenever Shane isn't on and went dramatically up when he stopped being a regular.
I admit that I may be being a bit irrational with my hate for Shane, but in my defense, I was reading GAF a lot at the time, and for some unholy reason, they idolized him to holy hell

Back then the Sony fanbase was probably the majority of the neoGAF experience.
New Retronauts is pretty interesting despite being very light on gaming.
God damn. That episode went up yesterday and that print is already sold out.
I know! They're all so amazing (this one is my favorite), and at $25 shipped they're a STEAL, but really? You only make 200 of them?
If you like these posters, I highly recommend browsing through Olly Moss's website and flickr. Lots of really cool stuff in there.
I still, once in a while, will listen to a random GFW podcast. It was them who turned me onto American Movie, and I will forever be thankful for it. I'm not a PC gamer, and I enjoyed all the non-PC talk they went into.
Wtf, the guy with the 14-inch dick is on the latest Retronauts, too.
The Maximum PC Podcast was a bit of a hoot when they were giving their E3 report (seriously guys? A bit late there) and started talking about how they really hope that Microsoft brings Kinect to the PC. Again... table scraps. Hilarious. So stubborn.

I don't doubt that Shane might be okay in certain situations but the Shane/Garnett thing on 1up Yours eventually became intolerable.
And meanwhile, Garnett's doing a great job on Weekend Confirmed.

Idle Thumbs has a new podcast out
But the description and name have some mocking of Dragon Age 2 in the same vein as that one time where they were mad at the character trailer for Jack in Mass Effect 2
I'm a little reluctant to listen to it
When Idle Thumbs gets all self-important and holier-than-thou it can be real painful to listen to
I like Ryan. At first I though he was kind of obnoxious, but he really grew on me, and he can be pretty story-savvy and perceptive at times. He and Brad make the perfect team because their voices are like kids on opposite sides of a see-saw; everything balances out. The other two I find indistinguishable.
I must mention Top Down Perspective if only because I heard about Deadly Premonition from them first. Audio quality isn't great and none of the guys are professionals, but it has a kind of watercooler-y vibe which I liked; and they're Canadian which is a plus. It's not especially polished compared to some of the other casts listed here but I enjoy listening in every once in a while. Also if anyone's heard of the well-known LP-er ProtonJon, he's one of the hosts.
I've never heard of A Life Well Wasted. American Life, eh? THIS BETTER BE GOOD.
I'm not a fan of Gerstmann taking over the Wiiware/DSiware release announcements. He makes too much of a production out of it, whereas Ryan's reading was pretty clinical and the reactions were the funny bit. People trying really hard to be funny rarely are.
That said, and I'm probably a bad person for this, I'd love it if Dave Snider took over Brad's chair permanently. Brad is a great writer and a great interviewer, but never contributes anything very interesting to the conversation.
Podcasts are better when experiences or anecdotes outside of gaming are discussed in ways they relate to games or creative pursuits in general. GFW Radio was so good at this. It's occasionally happened during the Bombcast but not enough. They're smart guys, certainly capable of it. But their formula for the show is kind of rigid and static. That said I like all of their personal styles, especially Vinny.

Brad needs to be replaced. He has no energy whatsoever.
And then saying "I need to strategically schedule a time during the podcast when I can go to the bathroom!" is the stupidest shit. He really needs to just leave the podcast room and not come back.
I generally like the Bombcast. Gertsmann gets on my nerves though. He can get pretty obnoxious, dismissing any game he doesn't have an interest in. Vinny and Brad are good people, though. And that host guy is a good host.
I've also never noticed any bias against the PC. Granted, I've only heard a couple of their podcasts, but one of them was almost all-RTS. They talked about Starcraft, Dawn of War, C&C, etc. I mean, I guess they don't talk about stuff like VVVVVV, but I don't think there's a bias.
I still prefer what little I heard of GFW Radio, though.

Well, he would have.

In case you haven't noticed, I've been evangelizing Radio Free Nintendo and that podcast is definitely not insular as fuck.
By the way, I'd like to see RFN added to your OP someday.

"So, apparently, putting a story about a guy with a huge penis in a video game podcast is sorta divisive. Who knew?"

Great episode, for a video game podcast. Not the best episode of A Life Well Wasted. Meh.

Well um Bombcast is more gaming oriented I guess...
