Well, I signed up for a year, both as payment for Bombcasts past and to help keep the Bombcast unsplit. Since I have satellite internet and no smartphone, none of the HD or mobile stuff is worth anything to me so I figure I'm square with the GB guys after this and won't renew.

I think someone needs to tell them to cut their losses and realize that cutting the podcast in half will be alot of extra work, and they should only do so if there making super extra money because then they can afford it.

If they're smart they'll just take all the (undeserved, hysterical, illogical) negative feedback into consideration and just go "4.5k is close enough, Bombcast stays as is".

Alright, $5 and another sub added to the effort. I figure I've received at least $5 worth of enjoyment out of their Bombcasts and quicklooks and such, and it's hard not to reward them for that ballsy live broadcast.
So once again, without consulting my co-workers (sorry guys!), I'm going to extend the deadline to the 15th for the reasons mentioned B4

On the other hand, it sure as hell worked to get them a bunch of subscribers. Hopefully it'll last longer than a month and they won't have to do this again later.
You can sub monthly? I may do 4 then, just because as I said, I would gladly pay 20 for the full year just for the podcast. That'll be my contribution.

During the Big Live Live Show Live, Ryan Davies said something along the lines of "We just basically told Whiskey Media we're doin' this. Five thousand subscribers by 10am tomorrow and the Bombcast stays free. Uhhh ... ok?"
Huh. Maybe he can "fix" those sites too. Metacritic just had a really ugly UI change, as well as being derided by the gaming industry for ruining everything in regards to review scores/bonuses

Considering his meteoric rise from plucky web entrepreneur to Vice President of CBS Interactive, I hope that is possible. People who are in the system for a while tend to be corrupted by that system before too long, making any sort of meaningful change difficult.
Does anyone have any idea when that community stuff is supposed to happen? They mentioned that for subscribers right? (A community event every friday where they answer questions and what not) I guess it'd be a little much to assume it'd happen today with the big shebang happening last night and everyone probably still being hung over :P
